Ravencroft
Institute
I gotta tell you, the best team out of Marvel
Team-Up had to be Sinister Syndicate. Except,
this cards was NOT the reason why.

It’s lame. Ironically, when you play Sinister
Syndicate Swarm, you have a LOT of cards in your
hand, through The Vault and Legacy of Evil. The
only characters that would benefit the most
anyway would be 2 drops getting +2 ATK. You’d
have to play a lot of 2 drops in your deck and a
lot of 2 costing cards to really benefit. Or you
could just Spider Hunt and give all your
characters +2 guarantee.

Not worth it…

If any of you don’t know, back in the 90’s the
Ravencroft Institute was designed to
contain/treat all the “crazy” super villains
from the Spider-Man books, like say Carnage,
Venom, or the words “Clone Saga”. Needless to
say it didn’t really work very well. And in an
amazing, spectacular and god-awful one written
by Peter David act of coincidence this card
doesn’t really work very well either.
The major sticking point about this effect is
that the card is revealed at random. This might
fit in with the “chaotic, insane, Tom DeFalco
writing the book” theme of the Sinister
Syndicate. But it sucks to use. You either have
to be running a whole host of cards with the
same cost, or you need to have very few cards in
your hand. Taking the first option and running a
rush team of low cost Syndicate guys is the best
bet for this. Unfortunately it doesn’t make the
best deck. (Hint: The answer lies in attack
pumps).
Whilst this card can effect multiple characters,
the possibility to increase the attack of
multiple characters by a small amount cries out
team attack strategy. And nobody loves that.
On the other hand, you really aren’t going to
get a big attack boost. It’s just not going to
happen. Unless you have way too many high cost
characters and plot twists. And hey, even if you
do you won’t have the multiple characters to get
the best out of it anyway. So that’s no good.
At best you could get a small attack increase
early on, and then KO the resource for an
effect.
Not good.
