“X-men, X-men, win the day, win the day”
-X-Men Cartoon Intro (Circa 1990’s)
X-Men Assemble: Plot Twist: Cost 1:
Ongoing: Whenever an X-Men character you
control recovers, put a +1 / +1 counter on
it.
Well, I wasn’t going to review this, but I’m now
I’m going to have to. Because everyone else is
wrong…dead wrong…
Hi I’m Sheriff John Burnell and welcome to
America’s Dumbest Criminal Cop Car Chase Shot Em’
Up Police Force World…
Well not really.
Anyways before a character recovers it has to be
stunned, so you take damage.
Everyone else forgot that.
Yeah X-men may have plenty of recovery tricks.
But still being stunned means you take damage.
And taking damage is bad.
Then there’s the fact that any strategy relying
on this card plus recovery effects is bound to
be slow. And hey, guess what? Slow is bad too.
Plus, due to the vast amount of “KO stunned
character” effects in the game being stunned is
often fatal. And fatal is very, very bad indeed.
And I’m right. Cause I’m Si.
So maybe you get stunned, recover, attack the
next turn, recover and keep getting a little bit
stronger. Big deal. +1/+1 isn’t exactly a day at
the races. It’s not going to take down Galactus,
it’s not going to smack Apocalypse upside the
head and it’s not going to win you the game.
There are better things to spend your UDE points
on.
No, not Wolverine.
I don’t care how much you like Wolverine.
Just no.
