Superman,
Last Son of Krypton
It's nice to know that VS can still surprise us,
even after the number of sets they've put out
over the years. World's Finest was a set that
put a long overdue emphasis on the pillars of DC
Comics; Batman and Superman. For Superman, they
brought out the first VS card ever printed
without a cost.
Technically, you're still paying 4 resource
points to get him out, but you lose all of the
other negatives related to printed cost. You
don't take stun endurance loss from him, and he
can't be targeted by anything that references
cost. Granted, for a four-drop, it would be nice
for him to have another effect, but with the
number of Superman-specific plot twists in DWF,
as well as in DC Legends, just having him be
named Superman is pretty powerful. Also, that
four endurance you save will start to add up.
That's like a free Soul World activation every
turn. He's not broken on his own, but he is more
powerful than he may look on the surface.
Definitely above average, but not quite a
staple.

Superman
This is one of the reasons why
Lex can’t get Superman
Superman
Last Son of Krypton
Team Superman/7/7
Flight/Range
Loyalty – Reveal
To recruit, pay 4 resource
points.
And to think that such a simple
concept of a card without a recruit cost would
cause so many problems. Such is the way of the
Superman. He has built in Invulnerability that
can’t be Only Humaned, Flight and Range and
can’t be targeted by cost effects like
Turnabout. That combined with its many
supportive themed cards, and you have a surefire
powerful Legend Deck.
In sealed, broken if you got the
Team Superman support.

Why does Superman get all of the
good effects?...

This guy is a
lot better than I first thought. First of all,
flight and range, as Supes should be. Second, he
has NO cost, so whenever he becomes there is no
endurance loss from the cost. Third, he can't be
targeted by effects that mention costs. In case
you haven't noticed, there are a boatload of
effects that mention costs, such as 5 drop
Thanos. He really is a lot better than I gave
him credit for. You can team attack with him and
Natasha Irons for no endurance loss.
Sealed - 4.0 (I would give him five but he has
loyalty reveal, as he should.)
Constructed - 4.5 (I really see a lot of abuse
of this guy, especially since DC Legends is so
counter happy.) |
