An Infinite Crisis Preview
You Will Be Seeing Double
by Scott Gerhardt

April 26, 2006

In Vs System, two of the most game breaking concepts is the ability to not be stunned and the ability to attack twice in one turn. Generally they are hard to come by abilities but can really swing a game around. Look at Sebastian Shaw in the Hellfire Deck. If he wants to swing twice, he has to whack two of his friends. It’s worth it every time, though, because it usually leads to the end of the game. Bamf! is a great card that simply keeps your guys from getting stunned. Both of these cards can really swing a game around in your favor in a hurry. Throw in a little Teen Titans Go for the benefit of team attacking and we’ve got the makings for something rather vicious. Of course, these cards are all good by themselves, but maybe we can find a way to balance them all up into a neat little destructive package. Well ladies and gentlemen, I think I have your answer. I give you Double Play.

Now to make sure everyone is on the same page, “identity” is that comes after the diamond in someone’s name. So, if you have Bruce Wayne <> Batman and Dick Grayson <> Batman in play, you could trigger identity effects. So yes, by this means, the card is a bit limiting, especially for limited play. In constructed play, though, the possibilities are endless. It just allows you to go in, hammer a guy, ready, and then hammer another guy. The ability to swing twice without fear of stunning on the first attack makes it so incredibly useful. Sure, the deck has to be built right around it, but I’m sure you smart deckbuilders out there will find a good way to do it right.

That’s all for my previews this set. Check back next set when we reveal a bit more goodness for you.
