DC Origins Review: Batman, Caped
Crusader
Today I’ll be reviewing one of the cards from the brand
new DC Origins set. This version of Batman is available in the Batman vs.
Joker starter set. Before I get more into this card here are the stats:
Batman, Caped Crusader
Rarity: Common
Team:
Recruit Cost: 5
ATK 9
DEF 9
Whenever Batman stuns a defender, that defender’s
controller loses endurance equal to that defender’s recruit cost. (This is in
addition to the normal stun endurance loss)
The main power of this Batman version is his ability to
essentially stun a defender twice. During the all important turn 5, this
could be the difference between a win and a loss. His stats of 9/9 are
what the average 5 drop has in the VS world, but with a lot of available ATK
increases in the game it should be no problem to take down the likes of Thing,
Heavy Hitter. Getting Batman out on the fifth turn should be no problem
with the help of cards like Bat-signal (which is similar to the FF Signal Flare)
and Alfred Pennyworth (similar to Doom’s Boris). The Caped Crusader is, in
my opinion, in the top 4 when it comes to 5 recruit characters. Sharing
the spotlight with such cards as Quicksilver, Magneto, and Thing I believe that
Batman will see a lot of play in tournaments. The only real negatives I
see in Batman are his average ATK and DEF. He has no Loyalty requirements
(Loyalty only allows the character to be recruited if another character of the
same team is in play), he is a common card, and with all the support the Gotham
Knights have you can get away with having one copy of this card in your
deck. Overall, I give Batman-Caped Crusader an 8.5/10 for his double stun
ability and the no drawback requirement to recruit
him.
