Do you have any idea how hard it is to come up with a
funny and catchy starting paragraph for an article if
you have no idea who in the green hell the characters
you’re writing about are? I’m not a big comic book fan
and even tough I have done my share of watching cartoons
and scanning comic books every so often I have no idea
which hero is which unless you’re talking about the all
mighty Nathan Grey/X-Man/Cable. ^.^
Anyway, this deck is one of the most solid League of
Assassins (LoA) decks I’ve been able to come across.
This affiliation offers a couple of cards that are
simply good not to consider in the current environment.
Tower of Babel is the lone reason why Teen Titan decks
are packing Not so Fast because a well timed Tower of
Babel can just about stop the Titans on their tracks all
by itself. The next thing they offer is a lot of
locations hate with Ra’s Al Ghul (4) and Josef Witschi.
With an early game Josef Witschi you won’t have to worry
about using your Have a Blast on Locations which means
you’ll be able to save them against those pesky New
Brotherhoods.
If that wasn’t enough Lady Shiva is one of the best
seven drops out there because with her ability to KO any
character at will she can neutralize any potential
problem at any given time. Combine all of these great
abilities with Bane (5) who’s practically a walking
Finishing Move and Ra’s Al Ghul (6) who’ll allow you to
cycle trough your deck faster than you could imagine.
He’s no Dark Knight but he offers you a lot of ways to
deal with his heroic counterpart… the Batman.
This deck’s main goal is to not miss a single drop after
turn three. If you can get every desired character in
play on the turn they’re meant to drop you should have
an advantage over your opponent thanks to all the
utility cards the deck has to offer. Try to use every
resource you place face down before turn six so you can
used Ra’s Al Ghul (6)’s ability to it’s full potential.
Hopefully at least three of the six new resources you
get will be non-character cards so you’ll get the jump
on your opponent when it comes to the number of cards
you can use a turn.
To help you ensure you don’t miss a single drop you have
Avalon Space Station which combined with Mountain
Stronghold and Shape Change can help you make sure you
have access to each character you need to play. Ra’s Al
Ghul (6) can also help you get some characters you might
need later on in your discard pile as long as you play
them as resources before turn six.
The deck has a lot of tempo and doesn’t have any
problems going head to head with another deck that’s
hitting every drop they need. This deck doesn’t need any
Locations or Ongoing Plot Twist to be able to achieve
victory which should give you an edge against certain
decks. I’ve been testing this deck for a couple of weeks
and have learned that you only really need to use Avalon
Space Station once to help you get the designated drop
for a certain turn. The only reason Avalon Space Station
is not a Reconstruction Program is because it has a bit
more utility than Recon program but both cards work just
as well.
The deck used to play Flame Trap to be able to handle
any Swat deck you might be running up against but after
testing against that deck archetype for a while I came
to realize Flame trap wasn’t necessary. The dark Knight
hits play on turn seven and that’s the same turn Lady
Shiva can take him out, Overload also helps in this
battles but it’s very likely to get Fizzled so just make
sure you can play Lady Shiva on turn seven against this
archetype and the game’s practically yours.
The Titans can be rather annoying at times and a lot of
the time the game will come down to how many Towers of
Babel you draw Vs the Not so Fast Garth will keep
recovering. You should be able to drag the game out to
turn seven and allow Lady Shiva to get to work. If she
hits play you’re more than likely going to turn eight
which is when the Titans will face their worst
nightmare, a living Tower of Babel that turns off
Garth’s ability and comes with some very nice stats of
17/17.
I love how solid and consistent this deck is and is
currently what I’m planning to take to Gen Con because
it can handle the environment very well. It has a bit of
tech against everything out there and is ready to handle
just about any surprise your opponent can throw at you.
Now I just hope I get an invite so I can be at Gen Con…
lol.
This is Q signing off.
