Dallas Native Adam Bernstein Defeats More Than 300 Competitors In Upper Deck Entertainment's $1 Million

Marvel & DC Vs. System Pro Circuit Championship In The Big Apple

UDE Pro Circuit Event Rewards Top 75 Participants With Cash Prizes

Largest Player Attendance Ever For Pro Circuit Event

(Carlsbad, CA) May 29, 2005 – Adam Bernstein’s wallet just got a lot fatter as he takes home the big check ($40,000 US) at the fourth stop on Upper Deck Entertainment's Marvel & DC Vs. System Trading Card Game (TCG) $1,000,000 Pro Circuit in New York this past weekend.  Upper Deck Entertainment wrote checks totaling more than $256,000 in prize money for the top 75 competitors.

It looked like for awhile that Upper Deck Entertainment’s Pro Circuit would have its first repeat champion as Ryan Jones (Pro Circuit Los Angeles 2004 winner) played strong throughout the weekend but finished in seventh place.

Bernstein, a twenty-year-old wunderkind trading card game player, beat Jason Hager (three games to one) in the best of five finals to capture the Championship title and the large cash prize of $40k.  Bernstein outplayed a strong field of competitors in fierce head-to-head battles utilizing the strength of the Curve Sentinels deck and earning the fourth ever UDE Vs. System Pro Circuit crown.  There were 119 players that made it to Day Two to fight for the cash, while the Top Eight advanced to Day Three where the big money was awarded.

“Once again the number of participants continues to grow – this event was the highest attended Pro Circuit yet with more than 300 players. The Upper Deck Entertainment Pro Circuit continues to attract the top trading card game players around the world," said Scott Elliott, Program Manager of Organized Play for Upper Deck Entertainment.  "The premier players enjoy the big cash payouts and the complex strategy provided in the Vs. System Trading Card Game. We look forward to seeing even more entrants at the next Pro Circuit event at GenCon Indy in August."

The hotly contested three-days of battle culminated with six of the final eight players deploying Curve Sentinels decks, each deck created to highlight its own menacing and destructive qualities.  The Javits Convention Center rocked as 309 of the planet’s best  Marvel & DC Vs. System Trading Card Game players started the contest on Friday and represented nearly every continent.   Many of the players journeyed from as far as Canada, the Czech Republic, the Dominican Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Puerto Rico and the United Kingdom to make the competition a true world tournament.
