Warcraft News Upper Deck Ready to Host WOW TCG and Miniatures Realm Championships: May 16 & 17
More than $360,000 in prizes will be awarded to top players across 18 different Realm venues!
North Las Vegas, NV (April 30, 2009) — The Upper Deck Company is pleased to announce its 2009 Season 3 Realm Championships will be taking place at a Realm near you. On May 16 and 17, World of Warcraft Trading Card Game players from around the globe will gather at one of 18 different Realms to compete for fame and prizes totaling more than $10,000 per venue. Players will be battling for prizes that include a $2,500 travel voucher, electronics, and other exciting rewards. In addition, the WoW Miniatures Game Realm Championships will be held simultaneously at the same venues as the WoW TCG competitions and will feature a similar lineup of prizes.
The World of Warcraft TCG Realm Championships is an invite-only-based tournament for those players who qualified during Season 3 at a Realm Qualifier in their Realm. The top four players from each Realm Qualifier have been invited to compete in their respective Realm Championship. Along with the massive amount of prizes being awarded, players can also get their hands on the exclusive Vindicator’s Brand and Lightning Arc Extended Art promotional cards. First prize for the Realm Championship is a $2,500 travel voucher, along with a Spectral Tiger loot card, four copies of Vindicator’s Brand Extended Art card, and the Realm Championship trophy. Invites are still available. To find a qualifier near you, visit the Realm Qualifier information website.
Plan now to compete in the Realm Championship. If you don’t qualify, don’t fret; there is still the Realm Open in which you can compete at each location. The Realm Open is available to any player who has not qualified to compete at a Realm Championship. First prize for the Realm Open is an entertainment package that includes a Playstation III, one Spectral Tiger Loot card, and four copies of the Retainer Alashon Extended Art card. Realm Open players will also receive a Brok Bloodcaller Extended Art card for participating and, provided they place high enough, a Retainer Alashon Extended Art card.
The World of Warcraft Miniatures Game Realm Championship also occurs during the Realm Championships weekend. This event is open to any and all miniatures players and should prove to have its share of stiff competition. In addition to the same lineup of electronic and travel prizes, each minis player will walk away with an event-exclusive Death Watcher miniature and carrying case. Note: Competing in the Realm Championship weekend is the only way to receive this miniature.
The rest of the prizes for the events include iPod Touches, Foam Sword Rack Loot cards, iPod Nanos, Priest Deck boxes, and carrying cases for miniatures. The top four place-finishers for the Trading Card Game Realm Championship and the Miniature Game Realm Championship – as well as the two finalists of the Realm Open competition – will each receive a Spectral Tiger Loot card. For more information about prizes and locations, please visit the Realm Championship information website.
