Cryptozoic
Entertainment™ Announces Epic Con
Irvine, CA 2011—May 9,
2011: Cryptozoic Entertainment announces the creation of a new
gaming convention:
Epic Con! Epic Con is a traveling convention that brings the
best in gaming to your local community. Epic Cons will take
place across the United States, with scheduled events in
2011 in Las Vegas and Philadelphia.
“As you can imagine, the health and growth of the hobby
community is incredibly important to Cryptozoic. What better
way to support this community than by giving them a chance
to meet up, have fun, and revel in what makes hobby gaming
great… the human connection,” says Cory Jones, President and
Chief Creative Officer of Cryptozoic. “In an effort to make
Epic Con as accessible and exciting as possible for the
largest number of gamers, we continue to invite other game
companies to join us at the show. We don’t view other game
companies as competitors; we view them as partners. The
hobby gaming space is too small not to support any group or
company spending time and money to grow the category as a
whole, and as you can see with the types of games we will be
supporting and the types of partners stepping up to be
represented, we are totally committed to this vision.”
Free for players to enter, Epic Cons bring communities
together from multiple games and different game platforms.
At the heart of Epic Con is a Darkmoon Faire, a World of
Warcraft® Trading Card Game event that offers everyone from
competitive to beginner players the chance to participate in
tournaments for big prizes or try their hand at slaying
Alexstrasza, the dragon aspect.
And the fun does not stop there! At
Epic Con, players can participate in events for games like
Magic: The Gathering, Ascension, Settlers of Catan and many
more. RPG enthusiasts can group up for an adventure in their
favorite campaign. There will be board games from leading
manufacturers in our Board
Game Library, where for $5 you can rent a game for 4
hours. All proceeds from the library go to
Child’s Play, a charity based in the game industry that has
collected over 7 million dollars in donations of toys,
games, books and cash for sick kids in children’s hospitals
across North America. What’s more, attendees will
have the opportunity to dress up as their favorite game or
anime character and enter a costume contest for a chance to
win exciting prizes. There will be vendors at Epic Cons
where gamers can buy, sell, and trade their favorite games
as well.
Space for Epic Cons is still available! Cryptozoic is
inviting both manufacturers and game masters to come and run
games at these Epic Cons for free. Visit
www.epiccon.com
for information on how to get involved or find out when Epic
Con is coming to a city near you!
