Hello Pojo Fans,

We reach the end of the week and end with the leader of the Witchcrafter monsters: Witchcrafter Madame Verre

The Madame is an imposing lady, able to alter the ATK/DEF of a Spellcaster during either turn, or use her ability to turn all effects off for monsters on the field for the turn. Both effects are quick effects, and one can be applied in the damage step. Revealing spells isn’t hard for Witchcrafters, they play a ton of them and you’ll be bouncing them back to the hand, so it won’t matter at times if your opponent sees them. 1000 boost to ATK/DEF for each spell is gigantic and can easily take down most monsters in the game. The boost lasts till the end of the turn, so that monster won’t be losing out in a battle. The Skill Drain effect is a great way to stifle your opponents moves while using the same effect during your turn to turn off any lingering monsters on the board (drop Kagari’s ATK). The discard, as we’ve established, doesn’t matter when it comes to archetype-specific spells, as they can bounce back to your hand, and you are required to ditch a spell. The effect to reveal and boost isn’t archetype-specific, so any spell will do. She can be used with Trade-In, special summoned using Shining Angel, searched with Sangan, and has a tremendous DEF if you discard her and bring her back with Monster Reborn. Madame is the card you want on the field and to protect at all costs as she’ll make your Spellcasters better as long as you have a spell or two in the hand.

Ending the Witchrafter week is Witchcrafter Madame Verre. She’s a Level 8 Light Spellcaster with 1000 Atk and 2800 Def. Those are decent stats and would be better if the Atk and Def were switched. That being said, at least she has the defense to utilize her Atk/Def pumping Quick Effect. During a battle with any of your Spellcasters, you can reveal Spells with different names from your hand to pump your battling Spellcaster by the revealed number multiplied by 1000. The increase lasts until the end of the turn so it works offensively to get over pretty much anything or defensively since the Atk boost will last through their whole Battle Phase. I love that this effect only requires Spellcasters and differently named Spells. The word Witchcrafter is noticeably absent while still benefiting that theme. The second Quick Effect costs the discard of one Spell Card from the hand to negate all of your opponent’s Face-Up monsters’ effects until the end of the turn. Again, this is great as offensive pressure to potentially nullify any beneficial effects or defensively to disrupt their combos. The effect does only negate their currently controlled monsters, so they can summon something after and it would be fine. The effects are also a hard once per turn. Those negatives do not diminish the potential of Witchcrafter Madame Verre from doing great work for her theme and some other Spellcaster themes. She looks regal to me, granting subjects power and protection. Run at least 1 because of how easy it is in her own deck to Special Summon. Happy Friday!

We end the week with the queen of the Witchcrafter monsters, Witchcrafter Madame Verre.

Verre is a Level 8 LIGHT Spellcaster with 1000 ATK and 2800 DEF. DEF makes up for a poor ATK, so I won’t complain when at least one stat is really good, being a LIGHT and a Spellcaster can make for a good combination as well. During damage calculation, if your Spellcaster monster battles an opponent’s monster (Quick Effect), you can reveal any number of Spells in your hand to boost your Spellcaster by 1000 ATK and DEF per Spell until the end of the turn. This can get monsters to insane numbers, I can imagine using this on Verre can pretty commonly get you 5800 DEF and 4000 ATK so both stats are really good, but it isn’t limited to Verre and I can appreciate that. Verre also has another Quick Effect where you can discard a Spell to negate the effects of all face-up monsters your opponent currently controls at that time until the end of the turn, which is great to disrupt your opponent from using very powerful monster effects or to get rid of a monster’s protection on your turn to battle or destroy it via certain means. Both effects are great in an archetype that recurs its Spells with good ease, as when you control this and can keep recurring your Spells, you are in a great position. Both effects are hard once per turns just so you aren’t killing every one of your opponent’s monsters in battle and negating every effect they might have. Verre is a great one-of in a deck that can float into this with up to 9 slots dedicated to summoning it from the deck as well as making use of Witchcrafter Holiday or Monster Reborn to revive it, or maybe even Witchcrafter Edel, though if you want to run a second just to have it and in the case you draw one copy, I won’t fault you that much, just one is the better number to me.

Art: 4.5/5 She seems very smug, but the color scheme and background is so elegant.

Witchcrafter Madame Verre closes the week (and if THIS Spellcaster doesn’t vibe ‘I’m a Fairy’ I don’t know what does, more on that in the art).  She’s quite the Monster, sitting on high, being so pretty and watching her subjects, while not crafting anything herself.  Level 8, Light, Spellcaster, with only 1000 attack but a superb 2800 defense and two rather useful Quick effects.

First, if a Spellcaster of yours battles an opponent’s Monster, you can reveal any number of Magic cards in your Hand, for your Monster to gain 1000 attack and defense per card revealed.  Each Magic card has to be differently named, and the increase lasts only until the End of the Turn, BUT, that’s enough offensively or defensively, and at 1000 each, that should be a nice size of Damage to your opponent.

Second, by discarding a Magic card (which helps and is essentially the theme of these ladies) you negate any and all effects of face-up Monsters your opponent currently controls.  Oh, and for a bonus, you can use each effect in a turn (once only) but still, you don’t have to choose, and she’s further protected by the massive 2800 defense she has.  Amazing card for the theme, I love it.

Art:  5/5  TIS A FAIRY!!!  She’s beautiful, elegant, perhaps arrogant or cocky, but the chair/throne is super amazing, as is the background purple amidst the brightness of her and the seat.
