Draken's Yu-Gi-Oh! Top Ten List: In General
Hey, all. I've already done one of these, but I figured that with
Pharaonic Guardian out, I needed to update the list. Several PGD cards are
really, really nasty, and many of them combine very well with older cards.
So, here we go!
10.) Jowls of Dark Desire (or something like that)
Oh, man. This guy's scary. It can end games, by allowing a heavy
monster like GAFor Bazoo through to its opponent's Life directly. Hold an
Equip card like United or Mage Power for the situation, and you could
potentially win the game, or at least cripple your opponent. Why it had to
be a floating mouth, however, I don't know.
9.) Reaper on the Nightmare
Oh, boy! This thing's COOL! This guy can do a whole lot of
stuff. Play him in a Messenger deck, using any number of various Fusion
cards (except Fusion Gate. With Fiber Jar running rampant, Fusion Gate's a
baaaad idea) to get this guy out ASAP. Once out, he's all but
unstoppable. Combine this with various control cards such as Jinzo, Solemn
Judgment, and Sasuke Samurai, and you could have yourself a vicious deck.
My personal favorite card.
8.) Mystical Space Typhoon
This
thing's gained a lot of popularity recently with the release of Mirage of
Nightmare. Anyone who wasn't already playing three started playing three,
so's they could cheat MoN and get lots of cards so they could win games.
Of course, if you can't pull an MST, that MoN is going to completely and
royally bite your behind . I fought a guy that had that happen to him.
It wasn't pretty. Still, MST is a good card.
7.) Jinzo
I
know, I know. He should be up at No. 2 or 3, right? Wrong.
Jinzo's defeated itself. No one these days plays much more than five
Traps, for fear of Jinzo. That way, when the opponent plays Jinzo, all he
gets is a sick Summoned Skull. Of course, with superb new Traps like Non
Aggression Area and Barrel Behind the Door out and about, Jinzy here might just
get re-employed.
6.) Des Lacooda
This guy's the reason G-Bind decks
are going to get popular again. He can draw an extra card for you every
turn, without any drawbacks. If you can protect him, you've got little
to worry about from Yata. Card advantage wins games, and Des Lacooda is
major card advantage.
5.) Imperial Order
This guy's great, but he
doesn't help you in a tight spot. It's the best Counter Trap out there
(though it isn't even a Counter Trap), but sometimes you don't need a counter.
People stopped playing three Magic Jammers for a reason.
4.)
Mirror Force
This is the most powerful Trap card ever devised. Call of
the Haunted? Good, but not massive. Magic Cylinder? A Burn
card and little else. Ring of Destruction? Close. Sorta.
Mirror Force is just one of those primal forces (no pun intended) that
levels any playing field. Or prevents it from being leveled.
3.)
Change of Heart
Jowls got ten because he's hard to protect until his effect
goes off. Change, here, needs no protection. This thing is as much a
game-ender as Jowly, but easier to get off. Not only do you get another
monster to attack with, but your opponent gets one less to defend with.
2.) Raigeki
This card needs no explanation. It's simply
another of those primal forces.
1.) Yata-Garasu
You have no idea how
much this hurts me. I, personally, loathe Yata-Garasu. The card is
dishonor personified. Unlike Exodia or Last Turn, Yata doesn't need a
elaborate set-up to instantly win the game. He fits into the average
Beatdown like a hand in a glove. And he's almost impossible to kill with
his Spirit effect. This card is absolutely cheap, and I seem to be the
only one who thinks so, as everyone else is oh-so-eager to say, "Yata-lock!
I win! Yay!" But there's no denying that he's the first real
game-changing card since Jinzo. And Yata won't defeat himself, like Jinzo
did. So here's your first-place ribbon, Yata-Garasu. I hope you
choke on it.
