Hello Everyone! Here I am again with another Top 10 list , this time for the
next set we’re getting, Power of Magicians, set out in stores possibly late
September or October. This will probably be a combination of 2 japanese sets
(as always), namely Advent of Union and Champion of Black magicians.
Anyways, here is my Top 10 list! Enjoy!
10.) Giant Orc
Type: Effect Monster
Dark/Demon/4/2200/0
Effect: When this card attacks, it changes to defense mode at the end of the Battle Phase. You cannot change this card's mode during your next turn.
- Aah, the GAF of Fiend Monsters. This is a common in the Japanese set, but
knowing how crappy UD is, they’ll probably make this one into an Ultra or
Super Rare.
9.) BEAST FROM ANOTHER DIMENSION
Type: Effect Monster
Earth/Animal/3/1400/1400
Effect: Remove all Monsters from the game that are destroyed by this Monster during Battle.
- In my opinion, this is a much better card than Lesser Fiend, who shares
the same effect. And the fact that it’s a Lv.3 with great stats means it can
attack under the safety of Gravity Bind. Expect this one to be a Super or
Ultra Rare.(Stupid UD)
8.) GATHERING OF HEROES
Type: Normal Trap
Effect: Activate during your opponent's Standby Phase. Your opponent does not get a Battle Phase during this turn.
- A very effective stall card, that’s all I can say.
7.) WAVE MOTION CANNON
Type: Permanent Magic
Effect: You may put this card into your Cemetery during your Main Phase. Do 1000 damage to your opponent for each of your Standby Phases that this card was on the Field after it was activated.
- Comboed with magic reflector, this card can kill your opponents in 8
turns. Great addition to Stall decks and Burner Decks.
6.) SAPPHIRE DRAGON
Air/Dragon/4/1900/1600
- The upgraded version of the popular Spear Dragon, only without the
effects. A must for any Dragon Deck, and even Beatdown Decks, as it beats
Gemini Elf, esp. in defense.
5.) KNIGHT OF WHITE DRAGON
Type: Ritual/Effect Monster
Light/Dragon/4/1900/1200
Effect: Summoned by a [White Dragon Descent]. Sacrifice Monsters from your hand and/or the Field that total level 4 or more. If this Equipped Monster attacks a Monster in face-down defense mode, destroy the Monster without going to the damage step. You may sacrifice this Monster to Special Summon 1 [Blue Eyes White Dragon] from your hand or deck. (That [Blue Eyes White Dragon] cannot attack the turn that it is summoned.)
- Finally, the BEWD has become playable again! A personal favourite of mine,
the Knight of the White Dragon , although a Ritual Monster, has a great
effect similar to Sasuke Samurai of PGD. But the ability to bring out a BEWD
for 1 tributed monster has both it’s good and bad effects. Personally, I
like this card.
4.) SKILLED BLACK MAGICIAN
Dark/Magician/4/1900/1700
Whenever you or your opponent activates a Magic card, put 1 Magic counter on this card (to a maximum of 3). If this card has 3 Magic counters on it, you may sacrifice it to Special Summon 1 [Black Magician] from your hand, deck or Cemetery.
- With the release of the Power of Black Magicians (or Magician’s Force for
the English Expansion) , the Dark Magician finally gets the respect it so
truly deserves. This card is both a staple in Beatdown, Dark, Spellcasters
and DM decks. As great as it’s LIGHt counterpart, which is used to special
summon the Buster Blader, the Skilled White Magician.
3.) MAGIC WARRIOR - BREAKER
Dark/Magic User/4/1600/1000
When this card is Summoned, put 1 Magic Counter on this card (to maximum of 1). For each Magic Counter on this card, increase this card's attack strength by 300. Also, you may remove 1 Magic Counter from this card to destroy 1 Magic or Trap card on the Field.
- Ah, the infamous Magic Warrior Breaker. Another personal favourite, this
card is another great Beatdown Staple. And it’s ability is just as great as
well, as u can use it to clear 1 M/T on ur opponent’s field, Expect this to
be an Ultra Rare.
2.) DIFFUSION WAVE
Normal Magic
Pay 1000 Life Points. Choose 1 of your level 7 or higher Magic User Sub-Type Monsters on the Field. During this turn, only the chosen Monster is allowed to attack, and may attack each of your opponent's Monsters once. Negate the effects of Monsters that are destroyed in an attack in this way.
- This is the card Yugi uses to defeat kaiba in the Battle City
Championships, along with the Dark Paladin, who was against 3 BEWD. This
card is a staple in DM Decks, and even in Spellcaster decks.
#1 is shared by 2 monsters, so here goes…
1.) MAGIC CANCELLER
Type: Effect Monster
Air/Machine/5/1800/1600
Effect: While this card is face-up on the Field, Magic cards cannot be activated, and the effects of all Magic cards are negated.
- This card screams OWNAGE all over it. With this card, Machine decks become
a great threat. Simply put, it’s a Jinzo for magic Cards. Having both on the
field at the same time almost ultimately spells doom for your opponent. The
next Secret rare.
And…
1.) SUPER MAGICAL SWORDSMAN - BLACK PALADIN
Dark/Magic User/8/2900/2400
(Fusion) [Black Magician] + [Buster Blader]
This Monster can only be Special Summoned by a Fusion. While this card is face-up on the Field, you may discard 1 card from your hand to negate and destroy a Magic activation. Increase this Monster's attack strength by 500 for each Dragon Sub-Type Monster on the Field and in each player's Cemetery
- The card Yugi used to claim victory from kaiba, a staple in many DM decks,
especially those intent in Fusing. And the permanent magic Jammer is what
makes it playable to many too.
