Top Ten Flip Monsters(list is outdated)- Lee
Ah, the infamous flip monsters! A signature trademark of Duel Monsters! The game just isn’t the same without them!
Here’s my list of top ten:
10) Hane Hane- Back in the day of LOB being the only English set for the game, this card was used alongside with Man Eater Bug, Fissure, and Trap Hole for monster killing. Kind of outdated now(kinda like my list but that’s not the point!) Bounces a monster back to owner’s hand. The effect gets by, but its not good enough for today’s environment. Only use it if you are just starting, but start looking for replacements soon.
9) Man Eater
8) Big Eye- Yu Gi Oh! is mostly a game of brute force, here’s a card for a change: control, an aspect infamous in Magic: The Gathering. Flip the eye guy, get to see what’s coming up, and get this, you can rearrange them too! Just make sure you don’t get a Witch of Sangan killed if you do, then it’s a waste of an Eye.
7) Morphing Jar #2- Funky, very funky flip monster. This card started all the deckout decks, I know, I know, compared to beatdown, deckout is almost nonexistent…but they definitely exist. This can wash out entire decks, leaving nothing but the few puny level fours…plus its reusable…kinda, if you flipped it and its not attacked. Can REALLY mess up your opponent if you launched it properly, such as when you have only MJ2 and they have an army. Still, this could work against you and kill you too if you’re not careful.
6) Needle Worm- TP-3 Ultra Rare(worth quite the penny, just for that fact) Normally, I wouldn’t incorporate money value on to a card’s usage, but that’s the case of all TP cards. Flip the violet-pink caterpillar and your opponent loses 1/8 or more, (if it’s later in the game) And just a friendly reminder: FIVE CARDS MAKE A HAND IN YU-GI-OH! How often do you get to kill an entire hand, (though pretty indirect) and suffer no real consequences(so what if your opponent attacked it and you lost a worm, seriously) Get one and test it out, I never used one, but I heard you can kill quite a number.
5) Tornado Bird- Very overlooked, and kind of forgotten, I’m guilty of that crime too, hehe. A great card for newbies before they can get real M/T removal such as Feather Dusters, Heavy Storms, or even Giant Trunade(scratch the last one, it’s in the Joey deck, I believe) Even seasoned players can use the bird because it’s versatile. Feel a bit too cheap to pay for the Imperial Order twice? Bounce it back, and set it. Or use it straightforwardly and eliminate, though temporary two M/Ts from your opponent’s field. Getting rid of two out of five is VERY nice odds, especially from a flip. Some would argue in terms of getting more kick for your buck that these are better than MSTs/Dust Tornados because two M/Ts instead of one get kicked.
4) Penguin Soldier- Two bounce cards in a roll? Yep, most definitely. Penguin Soldier is like the Bird, but for monsters. You can bounce up to two monsters, duh. But get this, its reusable if you bounce one of your opponent’s, and the second target is itself. I’m pretty sure it doesn’t die, though the kids in my school think I’m trying to cheat. If you’re out of resources to run your opponent over, you can bounce your used flip monsters and reuse them(I earned a reputation in school doing that) Many prefer Penguin Soldier over MEB because a) girl’s that play this game think he’s fuzzy and cute and b) it’s a two for one deal. Not to mention the wording: up to two monsters! So if your opponent has one monster out, you don’t have to bounce the soldier if you don’t want to so you can summon a Jinzo or Summoned Skull.
3) Morphing Jar#1- Lookie, it’s the second TP Ultra Rare on the list! (also worth quite the penny, IMO, the best TP card ever made, even above Mechanical Chaser) This is the one Bakura used in the show, difference is, when you play Duel Monsters in the show, there are no restrictions for the number of MJ1s. In most beatdown decks, doing heavy hits consist of comboing a few cards you held in your hand. If you kill the opponent, great. If not, you are left pretty much to luck or in a cooler term, you are top decking, playing by the card you draw. I hate those…pure luck, takes the brains out of the game. But with MJ1, both opponents get a fresh hand. So what if your opponent gets one too?! You don’t rely on luck completely. Control is good, if you’re the one doing it. Got a Trunade combo too, if you don’t like Card Destruction.
2) Cyber Jar- Excellent reset button, and can possibly give you a head start in tributing that Skull, Jinzo, Barrel Dragon, (or even God cards if its casual play and your friend don’t mind!) If not, then it gives you hand material. But the best part about this card is that it destroys your opponent’s 3 Summoned Skulls, Jinzo and Barrel Dragon in one shot. A gamble card, definitely, but if you’re at the wrong end of that hypothetical situation, this bad boy is a blessing. This card shuts down the Lord of D/Flute combo. A definite signature card in turning the tables, or even securing a lockdown.
AND numberrrrrr 1!
1) Fiber Jar- What do your parents always tell you when you’re little?? EAT THE BROCCOLI, YOU NEED FIBER! All right, the content proceeding that gets kind of unsanitary but it’s true, everyone needs fiber! A reset button in a different way, get all your resources back, the stuff not removed from the game anyway…and start another round of beating your opponent up. If they attack it, there’s a 50/50 chance he summoned an attacker, then he’s WIDE OPEN, unless he gets all 5 Exodia pieces(then you would feel like the content you empty in your toilet, slim chance, but by no means impossible!) in his new hand, or draws a Kuriboh. As I mentioned, a staple in almost all decks(I would say all decks!) especially Exodia. Great counter against those seldom deckout decks, but mostly, it provides a fresh chance to start over. Just don’t play this card when you are winning…
A rule of thumb: Flip monster have LOTS of things working against them, for beginners, the all too famous Nobleman of the Crossout, the best monster removal in the game, but just for facedowns. Then, as the sets go, there’s Hades, Royal Command, even the common card, Light of Intervention! They are fav targets of Change of Heart. It’s very mean if your opponent takes your only MoF, flips it, gets his monster reborn and get his dead Jinzo back, then tributes YOUR MoF for a Summoned Skull or HaDes.

PS- I know this list isn’t as funny as the last one…but I tried, I’m tired and pissed off.
