Yu-Gi-Oh – Top Ten Magic Cards

I realize that there are many different types of decks in usage at this current time in the game of Yugioh; there are beatdowns, exodias, "weenies", so-called "cheese" decks (ones whose main strategy is to use monsters like [Jinzo #7] to directly assault your opponent’s life points), direct damage decks, hand destruction decks, deck depletion decks, defensive decks, fun (non-competitive) decks, and the various theme decks (e.g., dragon, warrior, and water decks). Each deck has its own types of cards that are utilized for the smoothest possible operation of that deck and for optimum performance.

Therefore, the compilation of Yugioh magic cards that are listed here is a general list, one that is intended to list, from my personal experience, the ten best magic cards, in my personal opinion. It applies to many of the decks popular on the current tournament scene.

Key: 10 through 1 is from lowest to highest, 10 being the lowest and 1 being the highest

position in the list.

10. Mystical Space Typhoon- This is one of my favorite cards. It’s versatile, powerful,

and has a high Spell Speed.

9. Graceful Charity- Card drawing is one of the deciding factors in many duels, and this

card is one of the best choices for any deck. Also, as an incentive,

you could drop off something that was not useful at the moment,

and retrieve it later via recursion. [Sinister Serpent] can also soften

the blow of [Graceful Charity].

8. Swords of Revealing Light- This is also another personal favorite. Its strategic

abilities cannot be overlooked. Stalling for 3 turns is

extremely useful, and can save you from pending

doom.

7. Change of Heart- Did your opponent finally get out his [Masked Beast]? Let him be

sacrifice fodder for your [Jinzo] or [Airknight Parshaft].

6. Monster Reborn- [Monster Reborn] is the definitive example of recursion versatility

and power.

5. United We Stand/ Mage Power- The reason why I am placing these two equips

together is because they are so similar. Usually,

you have around 1 through 2 monsters on the field

at any given time, on average, but sometimes more.

Usually, you have around 1 through 2 magic or trap

cards on the field at the same time, and frequently 3

or even more. And don’t forget that [Mage Power]

counts itself when calculating the power bonus. But

you may ask, "What about the [Scapegoat] combo

with [UWS]? Wouldn’t that make [UWS] more

powerful?" The answer is Yes and No. Yes, it

certainly would. But with all of the monsters out

with [Fairy Meteor Crush] abilities built in, some

popular ones being [Spear Dragon] and [Airknight

Parshath], among others, and more of the type

coming out in future sets, [Scapegoat] will soon be

less potent and more hazardous to use. Therefore,

even with the higher increments of attack bonuses

that [UWS] offers, [Mage Power] evens it out with

the average number and ease of which you can

place magic or traps down. (Note: you should

never just place magic or traps down for the sake of

gaining an additional attack bonus).

4. Dark Hole- Even though actual dark holes cannot be seen, that doesn’t mean that

[Dark Hole]’s effect is not seen. The beauty of this card is that everyone

sometimes falls into a slump of one sort or another, and this card allows

you to make your opponent feel your pain (Mwuahahahaha).

3. Harpie’s Feather Duster- The mechanics of this card are excruciatingly simple, as

well as the purpose of this card. Any half-serious duelist

needs no explanation of this card. And you thought that

[Heavy Storm] was the best magic/trap removal out there.

Ha!

2. Raigeki- You need monsters to inflict damage to your opponent’s life points, but, first

and foremost, you need them to defend your own life points. If you can

remove your opponent’s monsters from the field, their life points are

(usually) open to assault. Simplicity is almost always the most potent

magic, as demonstrated by [Harpie’s Feather Duster].

The # 1 Yugioh magic card should be no surprise to any duelist. As you know, draw power is one of the most important aspects in helping you to win a duel. So, the #1 card is.... (drum roll)….

1. Pot of Greed (!)- This is no doubt the best magic card, and very possibly the best card

in the entire game, monster, trap, or magic. Game play options are

key in duels, and this is the most straightforward, efficient card for

that function.
