Subject: Top 10 Underrated Cards
Ooh, the top 10 lists are back... well, I looked
through the last ones, and they all sucked immensely. No offense.
People kept rating cards like Toons as high up.
So... I"m going to compile a small list of the top
10 most underrated cards in the current gaming environment, in no particular
order. I couldn't decide whether to put them in order of strength or in
order of popularity...
#10: Fiend Megacyber. People don't like
this card, and this is their reasoning: "If your opponent's got two more
monsters on the field than you, you probably losing, boi." This is my
counter-reasoning: "Scapegoat."
#9: The Shallow Grave. So what if it
gives your opponent a monster? Revive a flip effect monster! Like
Cyber Jar!
#8: Spear Cretin. The double Spear
Cretin combo is so funny. Your opponent can't attack directly unless they
have monster removal, and he'll feel compelled to keep attacking so he can
revive more monsters. Then you use Fatal Abacus and
Jowgen/Raigeki/Dark Hole/Torrential Tribute. :) Also good for the
same reasons as Shallow Grave.
#7: Limiter Removal. It was recently
unrestricted in Japan, and you can bet it'll be unrestricted here. Need I
tell of the horror of 2 or 3 LR-ed Mechanicalchasers staring down at your
LP? Or a LR-ed Barrel Dragon? Or Jinzo? And the worst part is
you can't even use Reverse Trap :o Even better, it locks the monster's ATK
in place, so if you equip Megamorph and follow up with a Limiter Removal, your
monster will STAY at that ATK and not decrease even if your opponent's LP gets
lower. I'm still not quite sure whether their doubling effects
stack...
#6: Last Turn. Here's a few examples of
instant wins with this card: Jowgen. Last Warrior. Gate Guardian
pieces. Limiter Removal'd 'chasers. Now here are some draws: Penguin
Soldier (YES, FLIP EFFECTS ACTIVATE!). Man-eater Bug. Anything with
more than 2500 DEF (normal decks don't pack more than that except for
Tyrant Dragon). Spear Cretin.
#5: Nobleman of Crossout. This card can
empty your opponent's deck of all of one flip effect monster, as well as
stopping Sinister Serpent dead in its tracks. Personally, I pack two
of these in every offensive deck I make. Does anybody know whether the
opponent of the person using this has to search the other person's deck to make
sure he isn't cheating, or does a judge do that? Or what...
#4: Zombyra the Dark. The only bad
thing about this card is that it can't attack directly, but newsflash: IT'S NOT
FOR DIRECT ATTACKING. What you do is repeatedly destroy monsters until its
ATK is down to 1500 or whatever, then when your opponent attacks it, activate
Reverse Trap :) 1500 suddenly goes to 2700, and their Kycoo/Gemini
Elf/Bazoo/Skull/Ha-Des dies. Instantly.
#3: Flash Assailant. Sure, I know this
card sucks, but in a top-decking deck this card is great because if you can set
your entire hand this guy goes up to 2000 ATK. Furthermore, if you have a
big hand you can combo this card with Reverse Trap :) 5 cards in hand =
4000 ATK, and since the number of monsters on the field stays the same, if you
activate Reverse Trap in response to an attack, the attack still goes
through. Imagine this: your opponent has a Hayabusa and four
Scapegoats, and the Hayabusa has a UWS on it so it's 5000 ATK. Your Flash
Assailant is on the field at 0 ATK because you have 5 cards in your hand.
You have Reverse Trap set. Your opponent has no idea what your strategy
is, so he attacks. After Reverse Trap, the Hayabusa's ATK is 0 and Flash's
ATK is 4000. :) If 4000 direct damage isn't enough to kill your
opponent, next turn set your entire hand (it doesn't matter if they use heavy
storm or HFD if you have the right deck.. or a magic drain) and flash
assailant's at 2000. Whittle away at those little goats until you can get
to his LP. Or just use Fairy Meteor Crush, either way. There's also
a nice combo where you set Reverse Trap and Cyber Jar, and if Cyber Jar pulls a
flash assailant you summon it in attack mode, and while you have 7-10 cards in
your hand you get to pull off the combo. I got Flash Assailant up to 6000
ATK this way once. Won the game, too.
#2: Twin-headed Thunder Dragon.
Strongest. Fastest. Fusion. Ever. I have a tip written
about this. You can read it if you'd like.
#1: Reverse Trap. Seriously, I don't
understand why this card isn't in every deck. Any deck that packs equips
is going to die against Reverse Trap, and Jinzo is the only popular card that
negates it. (I mean, NOBODY plays Seven Tools anymore, for some
reason...) United We Stand? Useless. Mage Power?
Useless. Yata + Horn of Heaven? Useless. For one turn,
anyway.
Try 'em out.

(P.S. Pojo Staff, why didn't you guys post my
reviews of Fatal Abacus and Exodia? o_O I'm just asking, 'cause it
still says my name on the front page...)
