Magic and Trap Top Ten...
Honorable Mention: United We Stand
Yes it is the
best Equipt Magic card in the game but in order to take use of its effect you
must have a Monster on the field, and as you will notice none of the Top Ten
require cards on the field.
10) Delinquent Duo
I bet your all
wondering why I didn't put this at Honorable Mention. Well, fact is that by a
mere cost of 1000 LP you can trash 2 of your opponents cards in their hand. This
is a 1 for 2 deal. Although 1000 LP may sound like a lot it isn't, even if you
have 1500LP left I still see this card worth playing.
9) Imperial
Order
IO can really screw your opponent. If a hand of magics and try to
Monster Reborn (ect.) to gain field advantage you can just flip this card and
make their entire hand useless. Besides that Imperial Order acts as a free Magic
Jammer (which did not make the list).
8) Monster Reborn
What makes
this card a staple is that it allows you to Special Summon monsters from your
opponents graveyard. That means that you have the choice to summon any monster
that has been destroyed back under your control to your side of the
field.
7) Change Of Heart
This is one of my favorite cards. Not only
are you decreasing the number of monsters on your opponents side of the field by
one, but you are also increasing the number of monsters on your side of the
field by one also. That's why it is assumably better than Monster
Reborn.
6) Dark Hole
Destroying all monsters on the field is crazy.
Although not as powerful as Raigeki it can do things that Thunderbolt cannot.
Such as using your WotBF or Sangans effect with more speed than normal. What I
mean is by playing Witch or Sangan in Main Phase 1 before you play Dark Hole you
can take use of their effects immediately.
5) Magic Cylinder
Magic
Cylinder is basically Mirror Forces counterpart. The only difference is that MC
is a target card (targets one monsters ATK) and only stops one ATK. For that
reason alone this card takes #5. If Magic Cylinder also read. Negate all of your
opponents attacks for this turn, instead of what it does it would it would be an
equal to Mirror Force.
4) Pot Of Greed
Well this is indefinitely the
best normal rare card in the game. It is a 1 for 2 card, which means you use 1
card to get 2 more. Pot Of Greed is just a rare so it is very easy to obtain,
also in the current YGO environment speed and draw power means everything, I
cannot think of a better card that represents draw power better that this little
Vase.
3) Mirror Force
Although it has a similar effect to Raigeki it
is a trap card which makes it slower, your opponent has to attack to activate
its effect, and it only effects ATK Position monster, but this card is also very
one sided which is why it take #3
2) Raigeki
Destroying all of your
opponents monsters is never a bad effect. Even though it is not as powerful as
Harpies Feather Duster it is probably the most one-sided card in the game. Other
monster removal cards require costs (i.e., TttD, OttD), that's why this cards
takes the #2 spot.
1) Harpie Feather Duster:
Some people might argue
that Raigeki should take the number one spot, but since most duelests nowadays
play 15-18 monsters and usually 22-25 magic and traps Harpie Feather Duster
targets a wider variety of cards which makes it #1.
Monster Top Ten...
Honorable Mention: The Last Warrior From Another
Planet
Fusions...If Last Warrior wasn't a fusion it would take a spot on the
top ten. Even if it was a ritual it wouold be easier to summon, making it faster
and more versitle. Last Warrior's effect is literally game-breaking. Not being
able to summon monsters would create a sense of danger for your opponent, thus
leaving thier field open to attack directly. If only is weren't a
fusion.
10) Sinister Serpent
Well most people have found the power of
Sinister Serpent it just took awhile (as will Yata-Garasu). VERY versitle,
Sinister can be used as attack bait, a discard, and even a defense. With the
right cards Sinister Serpent can even pervent a Yata-Lock. This is overall a
great card, but duew to low stats it takes #10
9) Fiber Jar
Why is
this card so far down? Well, because good decks shouldn't need a reset button
(which every one calls Fiber Jar). A good deck should have well balanced draw
power as well as cards fast enough top play without the assistance of other
cards. Fiber Jar doesn't always have to be used as a reset button though. You
can play it simply to clear your opponents field to attack directly.
8)
Bazoo Soul-Eater
Well removing cards from your graveyard isn't really
something to complain about, and when you can pump up Bazoo to a non-tribute
Summoned Skull it makes for a great effect. Most duelists don't play MoF anymore
so when you activate his effect just remove 3 magic cards. On a downside when
your opponent steals (CoH, SS, CS) your Baboon they can also take use of it's
effect and make it a potential 3400 ATK monster.
7) Exiled Force
Why
does everybody still play MEB!?! Exiled Force is the fastest (besides Magics)
and most hardest to negate form of monster removal yet. Why not just use Penguin
Solider right? Wrong. PS is much slower than Exiled Force, with the penguin you
have to wait until your opponents turn to get it's effect making Exiled Force a
better card and taking the 7 spot.
6) Injection Fairy Lily
Ouch! A
cost of 2000 LP, that hurts, but considering the effect IFL can be quite
versatile. You could use this card as a defense and penetrate all of your
opponents monsters ATKs or as an attacking force. A card I have found to be
helpful with Lily is Fairy Meteor Crush. Usually your opponent would set some
field disruption flip effects after you play her and with a FMC, Lily inflicts
ultimate damage. Another card that helps this combo is Royal Command.
5)
Cyber Jar
Cyber Jar is a card of utter chaos. Destroying all monsters on the
field and the draw power included in it has the ability to turn the game upside
down. Cyber Jar is great when your opponent has field advantage. Pretty risky
though, that's why it took #5.
4) Witch of the Black Forest
This card
is very simple. Once its sent to the graveyard choose one monster with a 1500 or
lower Def. and put it in your hand. The part I like about this card is that it
cannot be stopped by monster removal or stealing effects. Once its on the field
its effect will most likely take place.
3) Exodia The Forbidden
One
There are only about 5 cards that come to mind that can destroy The
Forbidden One. They are Delinquent Duo, Card Destruction, Confiscation, White
Magical Hat, and Robbin Goblin. Now since 3 of the 5 cards are restricted
and the other 2 are not seen in tourney play much, that makes Exodia a very good
card to base a deck around, and the fact that having the 5 Parts in your hand
declares you the winner makes an Exodia Deck more playable.
2)
Jinzo
Negating all traps on the field is much to powerful for a card to go
unrestricted, even if there was a cost involved. As most of you might think
canceling all effects of traps is a double edged sword, but it is not. Since you
are the one summoning Jinzo you have the timing advantage, so you use up all of
your traps before you summon him.
1) Yata-Garasu
Not a very versatile
card, but it can be very effective against your opponents options. Yata is a
spirit monster which means it can return to your hand at the end of your turn.
Some people say that Crow would be better if it weren't a spirit, but returning
to your hand is probably the best way to protect a little monster like
this.
