The Muffin Mans' Top 10 New
Duelist Mistakes
In NO particular order!(except Numbers 1 and
2...heh...)
10.Absolute power wins absolutely - NO! Please, don't go
this route of thinking. You're gonna defeat many more duelists by using
strategicly played cards rather than overwhelming
defense/power.
9.Defense is an unstoppable strategy!! - With Black
Tyranno out, the last thing you want is your M/T cards Dusted away, leaving your
2000+ Defense monsters useless. What's worse, if they're not playing a Dino
deck, Raigeki will just get rid of your hard work. They've taken maybe 300 or so
damage, but revealed all your face-downs.
8.Dragons have high-attack, so they're the best
sub-type! - Actually, Fiends have alot more powerful monsters that keep below 4
stars and better effects usually, kiddos.
7.Yugi/Kaiba/Joey did it, so it
must be a good idea! - No. Nothing done in the anime with RARE exceptions is a
good idea.
6.More money = better cards - Trade. If you buy 3 packs
and get 3 rare cards that you don't need, you can trade 'em for better cards.
You don't ALWAYS need money.
(getting specific now!)
5.I can take something out
for Jinzo. - If you need to start breaking up the theme/arch-type, then maybe
you can do WITHOUT Jinzo?
4.Swords of Revealing Light is better than Waboku! - You
can't chain Swords to their own destruction, while still having the effect work.
Believe me, it sucks to think you have a 3 turn lockdown with Sinister Serpent
out just to have Jinzo break through with the help of
MST...
3.Heavy Storm/Dark Hole are bad because they hurt me
too! - Timing is key. Play your Magic/Traps AFTER Heavy Storming. It'll help cut
down on the losses. Same with Dark Hole. Dark Hole at the beginning of the turn,
then summon/Reborn a monster.
2.Great Maju Garzett is great! Tribute Blue Eyes and...
- Tributing a powerful monster for Great Maju Garzett means card disadvantage.
At the very least, a Magic/Trap card and Blue Eyes. At the most, 2 Tributes for
Blue Eyes, then that tribute for Garzett. 3 monsters for 6000 is not a good
trade-off.
And the number 1 biggest New Duelist mistake
is...
1.Yata is UNSTOPPABLE! He fits EVERYWHERE!! - Yeah! All you
have to do is clear my M/T space, my monster zones, make sure I don't have any
drawing cards in my hand/set, no monsters in my hand, and no Sinister serpent in
my graveyard and I'm LOCKED!! ...Geez, and people claim Pyro Clock of Destiny
was "too situational"?
Honorable Mention - Chaos monsters. Most new
duelists don't grasp the whole reason they're so obnoxious just
yet...

- don't bother complaining about the cards unless you accept this is MY opinion.
You don't have to agree.
