 Mega Mage3003's Top 10 AST Cards

 

Ever since PGD came out, I did these kind of Top 10's, where I think the best Normal, Effect, Spell, and Traps are from a set.

Before I start, I'd like to state this: THIS IS FOR AST ONLY!!!!
I've gotten a lot of e-mails in the past saying "Where's Mirror Force?" or "Where's Blue-Eyes?"

READ THE TOPIC! AST ONLY! NO MRD! NO LOB! JUST AST!

Now that that's settled, let's begin, shall we?

Normal Monsters

10: Mokey Mokey
Ooook. That art is the weirdest I've ever seen. Not to mention the stats are god-awful.

9: Gigobyte
I can understand the Gagagigo lineage, but going from 350 to 1850 is weird, ain't it? Anyways, he's slightly better than Mokey Mokey, but he's still god-awful.

8: Kokazy
That art looks like it came out of Van Helsing, but who's complaining? Not me. Cool art, but still god-awful stats. Now I understand why AST (or 309 for this case) focuses on the "Normal Monster" cards.

7: Pharaonic Protector
I fail to see why he's called a mummy, since I see no bandages. Anyways, he's Trample-prone, not to mention god-awful.

6: Pharaoh's Servant
Again, Trample-prone. But, he's the exact same as Pharaonic Protector, stat-wise that is.

5: Fiend Scorpion
Well, it's a bump up from the other ones I mentioned, but still, it's god-awful (I'm using that a lot, ain't I?).

4: Sealmaster Meisei
Okay, a step up from the other guys, not to mention he has a couple of cards that support him, but not by much.

3: Warrior of Zera
Well, he can't be searched by any monsters, only by Reinforcement of the Army. Anyways, he's needed for Zerato and Mazera, and he's a pretty decent attacker too.

2: Metal Armored Bug
WOW! Witchable AND #1 candidate for Pinch Hopper (#2 once Insect Queen comes out this fall). Anyways, second-most powerful Insect out there (first being Perfectly Ultimate Great Moth, but who uses him?) and easy to get. This is the second Witchable two tribute monster we have (first being Mystical Knight of Jackal, then the third being Gilford the Lightning). What's not to like?

1: Gogiga Gagagigo
2950 ATK for 2 tribs, 3150 ATK with ALO, and the most powerful Gagagigo in the lineage. He's a common, that's good, and he's the most powerful Reptile we have, and Reptiles have no focus what-so-ever, except for Ultra Evolution Pill.

Effect Monsters

10: Absorbing Kid of the Sky
1300 ATK won't kill much, so the effect is basically useless. Not to mention he's a chubby kid wearing wooden sandals that Samurai Jack would wear!!!

9: 3-Hump Lacooda
C'mon! With so much Monster Removal out there, the odds of pulling this off is slim to none. And why won't UDE call them Camels!?!?!?

8: Desertapir
I guess it's a good Book of Moon alternative, but it's useless with Monster Removal AND Nobleman of Crossout running amok.

7: Elephant Statue of Blessing/Disaster
I guess this is a good counter to Hand-D, but 2000 points isn't a lot nowadays.

6: Regenerating Mummy
Like I said, a good Hand-D counter, not to mention a good semi-beatstick.

5: Double-Coston
I know this deserves a better count, but this is my opinion, not yours. Anyways, he's good for Dark Magician, DMoC, and even Red-Eyes.

4: Night Assailant
Need I explain?

3: The End of Anubis
I still think Necrovalley is better, since it stops Chaos while this doesn't. Anyways, it's a good replacement for Summoned Skull.

2: The Agent of Judgement - Saturn
Perhaps the best Burn effect I've seen, but he's Trample-prone. Anyways, he's good for a deck built around him.

1: Blowback Dragon
Let's see. Witchable. Destroys any card. One tribute. Better than Barrel Dragon in every other way. I'm even letting the 300 ATK difference slide.

Honorable mentions: Zerato, Mazera, Gear Golem, Stone Statue of the Aztecs, Goblin King, Solar Flare Dragon, Zaborg, Mermaid Knight, Theban Nightmare, Needle Burrower

Spells

10: Opti-Camouflage Armor
Face it. Equips are god-awful in this era of the game. And there's no good Level 1's out there that don't already have this effect. If it were Level 2, then it'd be another story (Yata).

9: Amplifier
Like I said, equips are god-awful, especially when they can only be used on a Restricted card. But I guess the Jinzo + Amplifier + IO lock is pretty good.

8: Earthquake
Perfect for Tramplers/Black Tyrano/Rocket Jumper. Otherwise, it blows.

7: The Sanctuary in the Sky
Needed for the Agents, Zerato, and any other Fairy-based Deck. Otherwise, it blows.

6: Dark Magic Attack
Perfect for Dark Magician Decks, not to mention a replacement for HFD when it gets banned.

5: Burst Stream of Destruction
Same as Dark Magic Attack, but for BEWD Decks and a replacement for Raigeki.

4: Monster Gate
I know this deserves #1, but like I said, MY opinion. Perfect for Scientist Decks, and other decks that need Monsters on the field.

3: Enemy Controller
Swap the position, or sack and control? That is the question.

2: Mystik Wok
Weird name, to say the least. Perfect for Fire Princess/Saturn Decks.

1: Goblin Thief
Basically stealing 500 LP. Or, dealing 1000 in Fire Princess Decks.

Honorable mentions: Spell Economics, Level Limit - Area B, 7, Delta Attacker

Traps

10: Backfire
Not that many FIRE monsters out there. Anyways, it's a good way to dish out 500 when Fire Princess dies.

9: Solar Ray
I'm a fan of LIGHT monsters, and this card is simply the best for LIGHT decks. Maxing out at 3000 damage is pretty good.

8: Beckoning Light
Pretty much useful when you have a crap hand, like monsters you can't summon, spell/traps you can't use, etc.

7: Draining Shield
Better than Enchanted Javelin, simply because it stops the attack as well as increase your LP.

6: Dora of Fate
I guess it's pretty decent if you have a Level 3 monster when your opponent has a Level 4 on the field. Otherwise, it's pretty god-awful (there I go again, saying god-awful).

5: Desert Sunlight
I fail to see any combos with this card, except for Dream Clown (or is it Crass Clown, I forget which one).

4: Des Counterblow
OMG!!! I HATE THE "DES" CONVERSION!!! Counterblow of Chaos would've been better, but it's a good effect.

3: Labyrinth of Nightmare
I wonder why a card was named after a set? Anyways, it's pretty good when your opponent uses Scapegoat/Stray Lambs.

2: Judgement of the Desert
Not bad, for Flip Summons/Swarm Control (Swarm of Locusts/Scarabs). This is pretty decent, until Breaker/MST/HFD/Heavy Storm comes around.

1: Micro Ray
Perfect for Tramplers.
