If the ATK of a monster summoned by your opponent (excluding Special Summon) is 1000 points or more, the monster is destroyed.

Key word SUMMONED by your opponent. If it was meant to be activated turns later it would be a magic card not a trap card to be played right when it is summoned. So when you are dueling in a tournament you can correct some people on that.
