I entered the Wyndham hotel definitely late after trying to find directions there. Accompanying me was my best friend Leo Torres, who came here also to duel. He had even given me a BEWD right from the LOB set first edition too when I was feeling kinda down on myself. With our cards, we decided that we participate in both tourneys. We brought all our money just ready for this event. The tournament hyped us up so much that we missed much of our sleep last night. As we entered, it seemed more like Halloween had returned once again as we saw many people dressed up in so many different outfits. That’s because of the other card games that were having tournaments there too. We saw the Buffy tournament tee shirts, a whole bunch of people for Warlords, Warcon, but the main event of the day was Legend of the 5 Rings. The prize for that tournament was amazing, 2 actual swords, kitanas, posters, packs and even boxes of stuff. I was pretty much amazed I almost forgot to sign up for the Yu-Gi-Oh tournament. I ran as quickly as I could as I entered the convention and saw the decks. I definitely wanted a Yugi deck and two MR packs, we were late too, 11:16 from the 11:00 start time but we still were able to enter. Too bad, I got the Kaiba deck deck and 1 pack of LOB and 1 pack of MRD. I got the packs, opened them up anxiously, they turned out for the worst, Darkfire Dragon and Masked Sorcerer =/. I still dueled though and I did pretty good. The other duelists competiting were Jack, BattleGuards on MIRC, Chris, Tiso, Leo and myself. The tournament was Sealed Deck, best 2/3, Swiss( Swiss is based on wins and losses, nobody get eliminated) and each person receives 1 pack of Metal Raiders, 1 pack of Legend of the Blue Eyes, and 1 starter deck at random, for $25 dollars and they are only allowed to play with those cards…=/. Here’s how it turned out:
Round 1
Chris vs. Jack
Me vs. Tiso
Leo got a bye
I didn’t see too much of Jack’s or Chris duel, but all I knew was that Chris won. Both Chris and Jack had Yugi starters and I noticed that Jack had a Raigeki. In my duel against Tiso, he was really set, we both had Kaiba decks. He won the chance to go first by Rock, Paper, Scissors, amazingly enough nobody had any quarters or any coins to flip.
In the first duel we kept exchanging blows, one card attacking after the other. We began to run out of cards and since Tiso had the weaker monsters included in the deck and by having included all the cards received into one deck; it was harder for him to draw monsters. I cut my deck down to 40 and I kept drawing monster after monster and kept attacking. I got lucky there; he had a monster reborn the next turn on me bringing back a small Ryu-Kishin Powered on the field. I brought out my La Jin to attack it and that was the end of the duel.
1-0
Tiso came back again, with a perfectly set hand. Blue Eyes + Lord of D.+ Flute. With 3800 LP left, I attacked with Pale Beast against his Lord of D. then Dark Hole. Trap Hole followed and then I managed to keep the pressure on, with very few cards in hand. The fissure played was his last card that was left as he played a card face down in his Magic/Trap Zone. With another hand of monsters and magic cards, I managed to get my first win of the tournament and got more comfortable for the challenges that awaited me.
2-0 The Win goes to me
Standings:
Chris Win 1 Losses 0
Ivan Win 1Losses 0
*Leo Win 1 Losses 0
Jack Win 0Losses 1
Tiso Win 0Losses 1
* Win by a bye for a round
We waited about 10 minutes for the other guys to finish and it seemed pretty close. With another 10 minutes of waiting for the pairings for the next round, the head judge announced them:
Round 2
Chris vs. Leo
Jack vs. Tiso
I got the bye
I watched Leo play for the very first time and he actually did ok at first. Chris lost the first duel after Leo used his Pot of Greed, and with a combination of change of heart, tribute summons for Summonded Skull and attacking. Chris put up his defense with Mystical Elf and Giant Stone Soldier of Stone but Leo used trap hole to destroy the Curse of Dragon he used and then used his face down Man-eater bug to deal direct damage. From that point on, Leo took advantage of his deck and attacked to win the first duel.
1-0 Go Leo!
I don’t really know what happened between Tiso and Jack’s duel, I managed to stay half the time looking at cards for sale and buying packs. I managed to pull out a Magic Jammer and a Mask of Darkness, great for just $10.00 from 2 Metal Raider Packs. I wish I was able to play those cards in this tournament. I went back and noticed the next game was going on…
Jack had won I think his duel with Tiso, but I was not sure, I know that when I came back, Leo was losing bad. Chris had a whole line of attacking magic cards that either destroy Leo’s Life points or his monsters. With quick change of heart, it was all over.
1-1
Leo’s last and final duel ended up the same, he got marauded by serve attacking monsters, he did come back with a Monster Reborn but it was too much, Man-Eater Bug and a couple of defense monsters set up an assault on destroying Leo’s monsters one by one. Leo tried playing Soul Exchange to discard his Magician of Faith for a Summonded Skull but Chris said that the card could only be used when you have a monster on the field. That is the only time u can use soul exchange =/. We tried to argue to no avail and even the judge running the tourney said this was true. Any of u guys on the Pojo staff or anyone, please tell me if this is true thanks, I don’t think I’ll ever play exchange again after this lol…So basically Leo had no monsters to play, a bad hand once again and got owned lol….sorry man…. I still think you can use Soul Exchange when you have no monsters on the field =P
2-1 Chris Wins!
I found out Jack won his duel I think I’m not sure but I think he did….
Standings:
Chris Win 2 Losses 0
*Ivan Win 2 Losses 0
*Leo Win 1 Losses 1
Tiso Win 1 Losses 1
Jack Win 1 Losses 1
Off to the third round and I wanted a little revenge for Leo’s loss, if it was on misunderstanding of a card lol. I just wanted to try to win, I knew it was going to be harder with the Kaiba deck but I had to try.
Round 3
Chris vs. Ivan
Tiso vs. Leo
Bye Jack
This was the last round so I had to make sure if I didn’t win; Chris would win because he won all his duels without the bye so if he lost one, it wouldn’t have mattered. I had to try to win. We played as we got set up; I got a bit nervous as I got my hand. Pretty good and not bad, fissure then trap hole, attacking with Battle Ox and La Jinn helped too. It was a good strategy for me and it helped I managed to get them onto the field safely. I attacked and since most of Yugi monsters are less than 1700 Attack Points, most got destroyed. I won the duel with quick hits.
0-1
Leo beat Tiso the first round but not by much, it was a close match
2nd duel
In our second duel, I managed to get a bad hand. Worst hand, 2 reinforcements with a wall of illusion and a fissure. Not that bad, but I mean one creature; I can’t just take them all out with reinforcements on the wall. I had to stall for time and the wall was pretty good but he kept playing defense monsters. With nothing to destroy creatures in hand, I managed to get Share the Pain but I mean it doesn’t help unless you have Blue Eyes for Tribute which wasn’t in my hand =/. It’s annoying but I hanged in there, finally he attacked, the Great White went back to hand then fissure, with no monsters on the field defenseless, I got annihilated
1-1
Leo won his duel, and it looked all right, he might just make it to the finals if I win this last deciding duel
Last Duel
With everything on the line I needed a good hand, and of course I didn’t get it =/ I had some pump up magic cards but my creatures got destroyed by trap hole after fissure after change of heart. I couldn’t believe how many cards he had on the field, 5 facedown, I was getting beat down each turn. He Change of Hearts, Monster Reborns, and Soul Exchanges for Summonded Skull and Curse of Dragon, I couldn’t do anything against that gg and that’s it; the tourney was his!
1-2 Chris wins 1st Place
Standings:
Chris 3 Wins Losses 0
*Ivan 2 Wins Losses 1
*Leo 2 Wins Losses 1
*Jack 1 Win Losses 2
Tiso 1 Win Losses 2
Now Leo and I played for second place but I mean we really wanted to split the prize. $25 dollars the prize had to be worth it right?
First match
Seems just like old times, Yugi vs. Kaiba starter. Originally I had bought the Kaiba starter and Leo bought the Yugi. We learned how to play the game since then and I wasn’t about to go easy on him since he is my friend and all. I dueled him and place my Pale Beast in attack mode, he attacks then with Skull Red Bird, I try to come back with a combo of Komori Dragon and Swords of Dark Destruction. I destroy the bird but get a facefull of Elf and Stone Soldier. He then tributes the Elf for the Skull and I trap hole it, then he fissures my dragon. He then uses Monster Reborn and I’m just done for after that. Punishment and a bit of a spanking right there when the whole field jumps to attack mode. Ouch!
0-1 Leo
Second Duel
Didn’t look any different than the first, for some reason either I can’t shuffle or it’s just that I got bad cards, I think it’s the bad cards hehe….
0-2 Leo gets 2nd place
Final Standings:
1st Chris (undefeated) 5-0
2nd Leo 4-1
3rd Ivan 3-2
3rd Jack 3-2
5th Tiso 1-4
* Means 1 win was a bye
Now we wait for the prizes and as I watch, I was expecting maybe a booster box for the winner. Or something big for about $25 dollars each that’s about $25*5 that’s right there $125 dollars. But I guess these guys are cheap, for Leo’s second prize finish, a box of commons, not including anything good such as Ox or Jinn. Nothing above 1600 attack points or a magic card, just a lot of equip magic cards that are all. Useless stuff, even more useless was the first place prize. Chris got a box too, and it had rares in it. Not First Edition, just rares, fusions, cards with silver lettering, only thing good in there was Pot of Greed. I heard from Jack that he cheated by getting cards from his protector and adding them into the deck. That could explain some things but I mean how could you prove it? The judge said the same so the guy won but over a controversial win, I might say. Jack says that he and his father saw the same thing so I guess I have to believe them. And I guess I have to believe Chris too… =/
Well it ended about 1:30 so Leo and me decided to check out more cards. The guys managed to bust out some rares and started selling them; I jumped on them not letting anyone go near, I bought the Magician of Faith, Dark Elf, and Robbin Goblin for a dollar each, great deal I made there. I also bought a Catapult Turtle for 8; I also needed a Pot of Greed that I bought for 2, and a 7 Colored Fish for $1 as well. I was really set up especially with my deck and all. I was ready for the later tourney, but it starts at 4:00 =/. I was really tired and had nothing to do then I bumped into an old friend. Louis is his name and he is one of the best friends I have since Knightmare, an old comic book store in town that was really popular for it’s location. He is the best at DM’ing and even playing most card games. He knows from all sorts of arrays of games, L5R, Magic the Gathering, and even most role-playing games. I think he wants to learn how to play Yu-Gi-Oh hehe. Anyway, he says he was doing ok in the tournament, just that it was going better for his friends. I noticed some of his friends, remember them from playing Legend of the 5 Rings once, a person from the Crane Clan, I think another was from Unicorn and then of course Harold. He’s really tough on people but I mean he knows what he’s doing. Now Harold is different because he doesn’t take anything from anyone, not even jokes. Really stern, but he knows everything there is to any game. Any game you name it, he knows it and how to play it. Scary too, but I mean that’s him lol. Although he didn’t say hi to me, because probably he didn’t see me, he’s still a good guy. Leo and I walked to the convention center, where they had food and all but it seemed kinda weird, everyone just kept staring at us funny. I laughed as I took some fun and ran off. I was hungry; I needed something to eat. We waited outside a bit but I mean we came back in. We dueled a lot because we had nothing better to do.
Just then some guy got interested in seeing my deck and how to duel. I really didn’t understand why but we dueled anywayz. He didn’t really know much about how different magic cards work but I mean he did have one mean deck. All he focused on was Lord of D and the Flute of Summon Dragon. I beat him bad the first game, Trap holing most of his Lord of D. then if he got it back, just destroy it again and his blue eyes with it. I won the duel and he asked to play again. I dueled him again and he pulls out Lord of D on the second turn attacking with 2 BEWD and the Lord while Raigeki, destroying my Wall of Illusion. With those 800 life points left, I attacked with Battle ox to Lord of D. and dark holed. Too late, he used Heavy Storm My jaw drops as my trap hole is gone, his fissures then attacking with Neo the Magic Swordsman and that’s game. We duel again because I guess I got kinda annoyed that I lost that way lol. I attacked quickly, not allowing most cards to be used. With Summonded Skull and a 7-Colored Fish, I had defeated him best 2/3.
I decided to duel Leo again and his Catapult Turtle Shield and Sworded me. I got hit for about 3600 but I guess after that Leo’s deck started to cripple. He didn’t really want to play in the tournament even though I insisted him not to. He felt that this game is only based on money and it’s unfair that rich people can only win. I thought that was true because what all cards are about is money. There is no ethic behind it all, just people who spend more money or trade a lot get the cards they need such as the Raigeki and Swords of Revealing Light or even a foil Monster Reborn =/. Leo felt kinda out of the tournament vibe because everyone else there was playing greater cards than he had. So he decided that he wouldn’t join. Just then, we met a guy named Chad, who was into Duel Monsters too. He looked for Raigeki but I wasn’t going to give him mines.
Hours passed as I played Leo and people began to play each other. Leo and I were really hungry and we didn’t know where to order a pizza. I asked a guy if I could buy a slice from him, the guy was gonna charge me 2.00 a slice, yea I’m gonna eat Pineapple Pizza for $2.00? I wasn’t that desperate to eat so we decided to walk outside. People were eating and all and it just made things worse. We walked right to the main entrance and just stayed there laying down on the different couches, trying to relax from all the boredom and stress we had just getting to this place and finding something to do in the mean time. 5 Hours we had to stay there trying to find something to do and trying to calm our stomachs down before we entered the convention again. I didn’t really feel like staying here and waiting for the second tournament but with no way to go home and since Leo and I don’t drive yet, no help there =/. We went back into the convention in about 15 minutes from seeing people pass us by, mostly security.
We entered and this time I noticed 9 duelists were there, ready to duel. Most of these duelists were friends of the guy that played me with the Lord of D. I guess they were either family or friends but they were good. From what I can see, they all used Lord of D and they all like to get their dragons out. I knew this was going to be harder since if this one guy had an awesome deck, why not the whole gang? Each person had a cell phone, jewelry, and bought frequent amounts of packs. I couldn’t believe it. Each one had their own sets of dragons too, the youngest with BEWD, the other two had REBD. Even their deck protectors were the best, gold or silver and even a better blue plastic than I had. The sign up paper was set up and we all signed up. I was the second person to sign up and Chris was ahead of me once again. The tournament was a double-elimination tournament, where once you lose twice, your out! The tournament was also Constructed, so you brought basically your own set of cards and your own deck. We went by UpperDeck’s Restriction List, but I don’t think anyone would have 3 Mirror Forces, would they?
The Paper read as followed:
1. Chris
2. Ivan Dano
3. Kevin
4. Jesse
5. Dennis
6. Joel
7. Tiso
8. Chad
9. Frank
10. Ryan (mysteriously joined at the last minute)
We all waited patiently for the round’s pairings, and then they were announced
Round 1
Chris vs. Joel
Ivan vs. Tiso
Kevin vs. Chad
Jesse vs. Frank
Dennis vs. Ryan
I was matched up with Tiso again and I guess we play each again first for the second tourney. This time, his deck looked mean and big especially that he had about 50 cards in it. My deck looked short to it with it’s only 40 cards. I got ready and the round began.
First Duel
I draw a great hand combo of fissure, trap hole, Soul Exchange, Skull and Wall of Illusion. I place the wall down
And he places a whole line of defense; I draw a bug place it face down. He plays another card face down. I flip summon to destroy one face down monster and tribute the Bug for a Skull. He trap holes it, then he plays another monster face down after placing two more cards face down on the field. He plays another face down card and then u. I attack with my La Jinn the Mystic Genie that I play from hand and it hit myself for 200 Life points, he fissures the Jinn and then he discards his Witch of the Black Forest for a Summonded Skull. He thinks it’s basically game since I only had 1600 life points left but I show him the Trap Hole. He tells me that I activated it too late. But I waited for him to draw his card from Witch::Sigh:: I yell out, It’s just a game, damn it!!! Everyone just looks at me and I start to laugh. We call over the judge to handle this problem to tell him that there is no time issue on activating traps. I apologized immediately but I don’t want to lose on account of another card ruling lol. I manage to Raigeki and hit him directly, activating my Robbin Goblin to remove his card from hand and each turn I discard a card from his hand. I play down the Magician of Faith and wait for his turn. He then plays a card in his magic/trap zone. With no cards in his hand, I attack him and now he says that I have to discard a card from my hand I attack with both monsters. Not another ruling problem, sigh: We bring over the head judge to tell him that it specifies the opponent’s hand and not mines. I don’t really show any signs of being happy about this at all if I knew I was right the whole time. You guys at Pojo really got help me out on these rulings lol. I managed to win the first duel with a combined attack of 7 colored fish and La Jin the Mystic Genie
1-0 My lead
Second Duel
With this second duel, he had a pretty nice hand there and most of my monsters
got trap holed. The second turn, he get a Thunder Dragon, discards it and uses
Polymerization and combines to bring out Two Twin Headed Thunder Dragons on the
field. Since the dragons are special summons my trap holes never reached them.
My Wall of Illusion withstood one attack and brought one up to hand but I kept
getting hit. With combinations of Trap Holes and Fissures, I manage to protect
myself up to 950 life points left. I monster reborn putting a Jirai Gumo in
attack mode. With most of his hand wasted, Tiso attacked and I activated my two
reinforcements. With this new pumped up creature it took out the monster and I
was getting set to attack. I bury the Jirai Gumo for Judge man and continue to
attack until he has 3200 life points left. He then activates Monster Reborn to
bring out my Summonded Skull and attacks, with that attack I activate my last
reinforcement and it says the duel for me. I attack and win the duel with Judge
Man and Battle Ox attacking.
2-0 I win!
I was the last to finish the first duel but the first to win a duel. The games were fierce and as I watched, each of the family members or friends had all the Dragons, Blue Eyes White Dragon, Red Eyes, even the promo dragons from the DDS.. I was in for it big now but I was ready for it.
Standings:
Ivan 2 Wins 0 Loss
Jesse 2 Wins 0 Loss
Chad 2 Wins 0 Loss
Chris 2 Wins 1 Loss
Ryan 2 Wins 1 Loss
*Joel 1 Win 2 Loss
*Tiso 0 Wins 2 Loss
*Kevin 0 Wins 2 Loss
*Frank 0 Wins 2 Loss
*Dennis 1 Win 2 Loss
* Represents 1 loss to the two needed to be eliminated from the tournament
Seriously, sorry about that Tiso. As we waited, I found out that Leo had been keeping score for us, he said he needed something to do. He was right, I didn’t know what he was going to do while I waited for the tournament.
Round 2 pairings were set up at about 5:10. We were ready to begin:
Ryan vs. Chris
Dennis vs. Joel
Chad vs. Jesse
Frank vs. Tiso
Kevin vs. Ivan
Now I wasn’t ready for this type of duel but I was about to find out all that was happening now. Kevin’s nice gold plastics really got my attention and his deck certainly proved to live up to them.
First Duel
I get the worst hand 3 reinforcements a wall of illusion and a trap hole. I use the trap hole to stall but as soon as the wall got attacked the next turn, he fissures it, then activates robbin goblin, I draw nothing but magic cards. He attacks and destroys my hand. With no hand and creature beatdown, game set match. It was over.
0-1
Second Duel
Now in this second duel, I actually had a better hand. I got out my cards quickly but I kept attacking blindly insisting to get trap holed and fissured. With that strategy led to failure as I got beat down from creatures. I managed to pull out a Raigeki and destroyed all his creatures I play Neo the Magic Swordsman and monster Reborn for a Summonded Skull with 3800 LP left I thought this duel was mines and then he flips mirror force. I just got slapped in the face with that one. My jaw dropped yet again as the beefiest card out he had, I couldn’t believe it. With that, he cleanly attacks and I was done for. Good game, I guess =/
0-2 Kevin defeats me 1-2-3 KO
Standings
Jesse 4 Wins 0 Loss
Chris 4 Wins 2 Loss
*Chad 2 Wins 2 Loss
*Ivan 2 Wins 2 Loss
*Kevin 2 Wins 2 Loss
*Tiso 2 Wins 2 Loss
**Dennis 1 Win 2 Loss
**Frank 0 Wins 4 Loss
**Joel 3 Win 4 Loss
**Ryan 3 Wins 4 Loss
* 1 loss to elimination
** Players Eliminated
Dennis and Frank get eliminated but for “good sportsmanship,” they get two packs. Leo was mad because even though he would have lost, he would have gotten two packs. Tiso wins his 1st or 2nd duel of the day, Kevin owns me in that duel, Jesse stays undefeated, and Chris is still undefeated for the day.
Next round begins and I’m ready for the duel:
Chris vs. Jesse
Ivan vs. Ryan
Kevin vs. Tiso
Chad vs. Joel
In this duel Ryan had been the mysterious entry to the tournament. Even though he came late, from what I saw, his deck was strong. I waited to start and we began:
The First Duel
Kinda funny that I couldn’t keep track of the life point total. I was falling asleep on the table. I think Ryan noticed this and told me he would keep his own score on his Cell Phone’s calculator. He starts off by using Swords of Revealing light on my Man-Eater Bug face down. It gets destroyed and I activate trap hole on his card. I de-spell the swords and try to attack. This time, I decided to calm down and stop going ballistic on attacking so I started to wait for the right moments to and not waste my hand of valuable 1-4 monsters that I could use. He swords again and again I de-spell that. I attack and with a couple of successful attacks I broke through his trap wall. I managed to get 3 monsters on the field and attacked with them.
1-0
The Second Duel
I attacked with 7 Colored Fish and met face to face to two bugs. I managed to pull out my own sword of revealing light and began to use flip summons. I used Man-Eater Bug to destroy monsters and attack and then I used Magician of Faith to bring back a change of heart I used as tribute. Everything worked out. With a hand used for defense, I think Ryan got a bad hand. I guess I got luck and managed to squeak by with some reinforcements and trap holes to win the duel with the Dark Elf.
2-0 Off to the next round.
Now for the standings:
Chris 6 Wins 2 Loss
Jesse 4 Wins 2 Loss
*Chad 4 Wins 2 Loss
*Ivan 4 Wins 2 Loss
*Kevin 4 Wins 2 Loss
**Dennis 1 Win 2 Loss
**Frank 0 Wins 4 Loss
**Joel 3 Win 4 Loss
**Ryan 3 Wins 4 Loss
**Tiso 2 Wins 4 Loss
As you can see once, you have 4 on your loss chart, you’re basically eliminated. With Chris’s defeat over Jesse, he stays undefeated (to Tiso’s discontent), Jesse now has to play Kevin, and I have to play Chad.
Round 4
Ivan vs. Chad
Jesse vs. Kevin
Chris gets a bye
With this round 4, Leo was my right-hand man on Life Points again. I watched as me and Chad wished each other lucked as we went to our dueling field. We shuffle, cut and drew our starting 5 card hand.
Duel #1
I got a really good hand, Bug, Skull, Jin, and 2 Trap Holes; I played the two trap holes and played bug face down. Chad played a Trap master which I destroyed the next turn and sacrificed my Bug for Summonded Skull and attacked. I then put down the Man-Eater Bug and Raigeki to hit him again for 3000 LP. I play the Magic Jammer face down on the field. With the bug in place, he tries to play fissure, but I activate the Magic Jammer to stop it. He can’t defend himself anymore and I attack with Bug, Skull and Magician of Faith to win.
1-0
Duel #2
Pretty interesting that I managed to use SORL when he has a 4 card line face down on the field. It turns out one of the monsters was a bug that destroyed my wall and another was the mystical Elf. I began to start to attack in a frenzy. Again, he got left with defense monsters, which I wiped out quickly. He said he had a bad hand and I believed him. The duel came to an end and next was off to the semi-finals. Yes!
2-0 The Chad was great, but great doesn’t mean it was good enough hehe
In the other duel, Jesse had defeated Kevin hands down so instead of me getting the bye; I had to duel Chris while Jesse got the bye for defeating Kevin.
Standings:
Chris 8 Wins 0 Loss
*Jesse 6 Wins 2 Loss
*Ivan 6 Wins 2 Loss
**Chad 4 Wins 4 Loss
**Dennis 1 Win 4 Loss
**Frank 0 Wins 4 Loss
**Joel 3 Win 4 Loss
**Kevin 4 Wins 4 Loss
**Ryan 3 Wins 4 Loss
**Tiso 2 Wins 4 Loss
* 1 loss towards Elimination
* Player Eliminated
Round 5, since Chris was undefeated again, I knew it was either him or me that had to go on. With Kevin losing to Jesse, he was eliminated. I knew with just one loss I would be eliminated and I couldn’t let that happen. I had my friends, and even my family came by and I knew I had to duel the best I could. I wanted to try to win a Red Eyes for my friend, because he likes the card so much. He even gave me a 1st Edition LOB BEWD from the booster packs because I was feeling down, I had to try to pay him back. I knew I had to win, I just knew it. The only thing was, he didn’t =/.
Round 5
Chris vs. Ivan (Part II)
Jesse gets a bye
In Round 5:
First Duel
We both draw our hands; he plays a whole bunch of magic cards. I play cards face down and he then waits. I play a 7 colored fish and 2 trap holes, not sure if he had heavy storm. I flip summon and attack with both the bug and fish but the fish gets destroyed by trap hole. He plays change of heart and skull and almost activates an equip magic card but he is stopped by the first trap hole. I play Battle Ox and attack with it and deals damage. He then plays dragon zombie and tries to pump it up again but I don’t let him with the other trap hole. I attack then with a fish and an ox. And with one card still left in my hand I play down Magic Jammer. He then tries to Raigeki but I magic jammer on it. With no defense, this match was mines.
1-0
The Second Duel:
Chris had been known for his comebacks, when he loses the first game then mysteriously wins the next two. I wasn’t really worried because I have trust in my cards lol. I had to get prepared and I was, while Leo kept score. We both quickly waste our hands countering each other’s monsters. I play De-Spell on a ¼ chance of getting a magic card and I get rid of Change of Heart. Yeah, great play for me as I play Monster Reborn face down and use Card Destruction to destroy my Summonded Skull. I reborn the monster after fissuring his face up monster on the field. I play the Fish in attack mode. Both the fish and the skull quickly attack for 4300 LP of damage. I then get a change of heart and attack with all his creatures while he uses Waboku. I then just quickly get a judge man, attack and with the summon of judge man, I knock the remaining life points. Tiso could be happy now as we called him as I told him that his friend had lost. And so I stayed alive in the tournament, while I faced either Jesse or Chris.
Standings:
*Chris 8 Wins 2 Loss
*Jesse 8 Wins 2 Loss
*Ivan 8 Wins 2 Loss
**Chad 4 Wins 4 Loss
**Dennis 1 Win 4 Loss
**Frank 0 Wins 4 Loss
**Joel 3 Win 4 Loss
**Kevin 4 Wins 4 Loss
**Ryan 3 Wins 4 Loss
**Tiso 2 Wins 4 Loss
* 1 loss towards elimination
* Eliminated
Round 6:
In this round 6 I got the bye and my parents wanted to leave A.S.A.P. I knew that I had a chance to win but I didn’t want that to effect my parents being here. They saw many of the old faces that Knightmare had as well and they talked to them as much as they did to us. Louis in particular but that’s because Harold is a busy man. In Round 6, Jesse and Chris squared off again to decide who played in the Finals against me.
Round 6:
Chris vs. Jesse
I get the bye ^_^
I really didn’t pay much of the attention to this duel, sorry guys, but I’ll tell u one thing it lasted. It took 3 duels to finish too. I saw Card destruction, Heavy Storm, Monster Reborn, Change of Heart, anything you can think of was played. Chris basically played like Mai pumping up each monster with a different magic card or trap and Jesse was looking only to get his dragon’s out at any cost, including using Magic Jammer and Seven Tools of Bandit. In the end, Jesse pulled off victorious and I walked calm and collectively to the dueling field.

The True Final Duel
The duel before ours was extremely intense and I saw it from both eyes. Chris looked extremely frustrated while Jesse looked sort of calmed and collective, as I sat down on the seat; my hands began to shake. I just quickly shook myself up, shook hands, and began to duel. Kind of ironic for him that the first person he dueled would have to be his last…
The First Duel
This duel was pretty easy, other than the trap holes. Jesse had a bad hand and only could use effect monsters. I used this to my advantage and quickly sent most of his cards to the graveyard with man-eater bug and Soul Exchange for Tribute. With a Summonded Skull out, I even played bug face down. I flipped Summon Bug to play La Jinn and to add more pressure, played Swords of Revealing Light. With activating Robbin Goblin, I destroyed most of the cards in his hand. With that the duel was mine and the first game went to me.
1-0
The Second Duel
In the second duel Jesse went on the offensive activating any magic destruction card he could find, with quick attacking and me with a wall and a magician of faith, each monster got destroyed. I put up a good fight especially with a dark elf as a wall with 1150 LP left. But a quick change of heart decided that…
1-1
The End
The final duel was the best of the three. Each with a trap hole on both sides, we managed to destroy as many creatures as we could, I played my Magician of Faith to draw back Pot of Greed, with 5 cards in hand as monsters and trap holes. I was set for the victory, each monster I destroyed just a little further to the end. With Jesse not getting any dragons that he needed, I took the match hands down!
2-1 Victory
With my win, I waited for my prize. Since they gave out boosters, I was expecting a whole booster box. Instead I ended up getting that case of rares, except this time they were 1st Edition, ::Sigh:: Jesse who came in second got 2 boosters and pulled out with a foil Seven Tools of Bandit. How does the 1st Place winner get a crappy prize and the 2nd place gets a 1st edition Ultra Rare in a booster pack. He showed it to me like if he was trying to impress me at all, it’s just a tournament to me. I came here to do good and I didn’t expect myself to win at first but in the end I did and I’m glad I came. Just wish those guys doing the tournament weren’t so cheap. So for all people wanting to go to a Yu-Gi-Oh tournament, please don’t get stuck with these guys. The guys didn’t give me boosters, they gave me a lot of crappy rares, DarkFire Dragon, Armed Ninja, Spirit of the Harp, come on…I spent 6 hours here to get the same stuff I get in packs. Is there like some type of agency that prevents this type of tourney fraud lol. I paid $45 dollars just to enter these 2 stupid tournaments and to end up with basically no prize for a 1st place win is outrageous. Anyway I hope u enjoyed this report as much as I enjoyed typing it all for you. Good luck to all and I hope to duel you in a tournament soon enough.
