There is currently no face down attack mode in the game. Monsters are either summoned in face up attack mode, or set in face down defence mode. I've heard there is a card in a later set that allows face down attack.

...Also, if traphole is played when a player sets a card face-down in defense mode and you use traphole and the attack is less than 1000? Your opponent shows you the attack and flips it back over and your traphole is destroyed, not bringing along the monster.

Sory to make it the second to final definition, but trap hole can't be used on a monster when it is set, only on monsters normal summoned, or flip summoned.
