Subject: A rant on deck types ~ Nerimon

Hey there, Nerimon here with my fifth Pojo tip. This is just a point I'd like to make about people bashing deck types.

Now, there was a lot of bashing kids who have money - I submitted my thoughts on this topic and soon after, the subject was closed, thank goodness. So, hopefully with this rant, the subject of deck bashing (which has been ongoing since the game started) will finally be laid to rest.

My point, simply, is this: people don't need to post rants saying about how beatdown is unoriginal, or a list of many other alternative deck strategies that (if used correctly) will make you unique. Listen, one and all - every deck is unique. Every duellist puts his/her heart and soul into finding the right cards to perfect his/her deck strategy, and it doesn't really matter what type of deck they have. I started off with a Beatdown when I first played; purely because, yes, it is an easier way of building a deck, even if you do include sub-strategies. Eventually I assembled all of Exodia and built an Exodia deck, which I used for a while; I got bored of that, however; playing on the same strategy, draw the pieces, win the game. Although Beatdown is easy to make, I find that has a much wider variety to play with; in my Beatdown for example, I could simply trash the opponent's Life Points; or I could use Yata-Garasu to lock my opponent out; or use my cards like Barrel Dragon and Man-Eater Bug to remove their monsters first; and if my current plan fails, I can use Fiber Jar to reset it. My point is, there are so many options with beatdown, and you can only have 40-50 cards or so. So, obviously, with the amount of cards in the metagame at the moment (I don't know what metagame means, but it seemed appropriate to say it) no two people are going to choose EXACTLY the same, unless they did it on purpose, or it was a damn good coincidence.

Also, everyone knows about all the different strategies available; duellists don't want to read lists of different deck types to use to crush Beatdown, they already know about them. Clown control, dragon, light, Exodia, hand disruption; we've heard it all before. My guess is if you've made it as far as Pojo, you probably have a deck, and you're just looking for some tweaks.

Basically to conclude this; please, stop writing a general deck strategy in detail (like Exodia, for instance) because everyone knows about them already. Of course, if you have an original combo to add, that'd be brilliant - but people don't want to read a lot of stuff they've already read hundreds of times before. And please stop bashing other people's Deck types, because unless you have played and beaten every duellist in the world with that type, you have no right to say that their method of winning doesn't work.

Please send me your comments, flame and suggestions to alexd@pro-net.co.uk. Flames will not be read, but it'll give me a good laugh.
