Bring on the BURN - ~Chief~
BRING ON THE BURN
Hello Everyone,
This is my first post on Pojo's Tips section and I hope it won't be the last, (that is of course depending on the response, good or bad, that I get, if any...). (btw I'm sorry if this is a little long...)

There have been numerous posts on burn decks in the past and undoubtedly will be more in the future. I have my own contributions to make to ever increasing pile of strategies and decks designed to decrease an opponents life points to zero with little or no attacking. I myself run a few different types of decks (5 to be exact, yes that's right....5) including my tournament Warrior Deck, Zork/Necrofear Deck, Pyro Burn, Fire Princess Hybrid Deck, and Deckout/Control Deck. All of which are extremely effective. They may seem a bit spread out in terms of similarities but I absolutely love them all, quite possibly why there are 5... Anyway, I will move on to the point of my article, The emergence of a new archetype, the PYRO BURNER!
Most people hear the word Pyro and think of the ancient times of PSV with Darkfire Soldiers and crappy lv 5's, but recently this has all changed. Thanks to the awesome Ancient Sanctuary set we now have one of the best decks, IMO, ever, the Pyro Burner. The center piece of this deck? the great Solar Flare Dragon.

Solar Flare Dragon AST-032
Fire/Pyro
4/1500/1000
This card cannot be attacked if there is another Pyro-Type monster on your side of the field. This card inflicts 500 points of damage to your opponents Life Points during the End Phase of your turn.

Now you begin to see the power of Pyro decks. Imagine, getting 2 of these bad boys out at once, its an instant lock on opponents attacks, plus they lose 1000 life points when your turn ends, beautiful. Now of course you will need other Pyros and burn cards to support and/or replace this strategy in the worst-case or late-game scenarios, which is where good old Fire Princess comes in (at least in my deck...). Before I continue I will display my deck so that you begin to see more clearly what im talking about.

So there you have it, my personal Pyro Deck, I realize the catastrophic possibility of a horrible hand, but i have personally done over 4000 points of damage in just 2 turns with this deck on a half decent draw. Since this deck is massively Jinzo ownable I might include some other type of monster removal and/or stall tactic in the future, but right now it is a killer deck. Some of you might be wondering why I have included Curse of Anubis. Aside from the fact that i wanted to test it out, it combos great with the 2 Infernos, and with their UWS and Molten Destruction in case i lose Curse of Anubis too early they still have a good chance of getting their effect off. The Thing in the Crater is a great way to get out more monsters since i get the effect if it dies in any way, including magic cards, in which case i can nuke the field with a Dark Hole with a TTiTC on the Field and still get to summon after his effect lets me Spc. Summon. This is even better when i have Backfire out. Since this deck is partially offensive i only have one each of MoP and GB for backup or Fire Princess stall. I have seen Poison of the Old Man in many decks but I cant say that i have seen it used correctly. A lot of people seem to want to use it the second they get it...which is WRONG, IMO, you should set it and chain it to an opponents MST to let them burn their M/T removal or set it to use later when you get out a Fire Princess or intimidate an opponent who wants to attack. Most people would not like Dark Room of Nightmare in this deck as its full of Magics/Traps already, but i love it, an extra 300 adds up fast with the amount of times I will be doing damage to my opponent. As for my support monsters i.e Sangan, WotBF, Cyber Jar (which i consider a staple), and Sinister Serpent, they are not fire but of course assist in the speed this deck needs to "set itself up". My Blazing Inpachis are pure beatstick as well as Inferno and Backfire fodder. They also are not affected by Curse of Anubis.
I hope this has shed some light and opened some eyes to the awesomeness of the Pyro Deck as well as sparked some imagination to turn away from Copy Cat Chaos Decks and start to play original decks. And as many of you know, when the Ban-List comes into effect, these types of decks will be much more effective and "safer" to use.

~Look for my next article featuring my Hybrid Fire Princess Deck soon~

~/>?<\~ I have a question for anyone out there who knows the answer. My friend and i have been having a debate over the card Fusion Gate and its effect. He says that you can simply remove the monsters from play wherever they may be i.e. "you dont have to have them in your hand". I on the other hand think that that is rediculously overpowered and that you have to have the fusion material monsters in your hand to remove them from play. I have not been able to find a ruling to validate my claim, but I hope that one of you readers can help me with this. ~/>?<\~
