Dragon Fury-Cyven
Hey, this is my first
tip ever, so I'm gonna start off with the deck I use, the Dragon Fury deck.
I
know many people think this type of deck won't get you far, but even in its
unfinished state, this monstrocity has defeated Chaos decks, Exodia decks,
Control decks, Beatdown decks, Deckout decks, Hand Destruction decks (though
just barely, still a weakness here...) and Burn decks.
One might
think this is impossible since Dragons usually don't have the best effects, but
the key is balance... You see, most Dragon decks have the standard Lord of D,
Flute and Blue-Eyes White Dragon. Usually all of these in threes... True, old
Blue-Eyes makes a great 3000 beatstick, but there is a much more lethal Dragon
available... The mighty Tyrant Dragon. I don't know if people know this card,
but for those who don't, here's the full info:
Main Type:
Fire
Sub Type: Dragon
Level: 8
ATK: 2900 / DEF: 2500
Effect: When
there is a monster on your opponent's side of the field after the first attack
of your Battle Phase, this monster can attack once again during the same Battle
Phase. In addition, negate the effect of a Trap Card that specifically
designates this card as a target and destroy it. If this monster is Special
Summoned from the Graveyard, you must offer 1 Dragon-Type monster on your side
of the field as a Tribute.
Isn't she a beauty? Basically what you
have here is a BEWD with 100 less attack, but it may destroy 2 of your
opponent's monsters (seriously, anybody still using the old Labyrinth Wall?),
which means that you will oftenly have an open field so one of your other
Dragons can go on a direct-hit rampage. Also its Trap-negating effect works
miracles for me.
An opponent once tried to activate Enchanted Javelin on
Tyrant Dragon... poof, negated and destroyed. Next turn: He tries to activate
Magic Cylinder on Tyrant Dragon.. buhbye!
Moving on to the next
wonder:
Jinzo killer, a.k.a. Kaiser Glider
stats:
Main Type:
Light
Sub Type: Dragon
Level: 6
ATK: 2400 / DEF: 2200
Effect: This
card is not destroyed as a result of battle when this card battles with a
monster with the same ATK. When this card is destroyed and sent to the
Graveyard, return 1 monster on the field to its owner's
hand.
Another magnificent Dragon I love using. His returning effect
is a real pain and I (ab)use it whenever I face say Buster Blader or Dark
Paladin. a nice kamikaze attack is usually all it takes to take the lead in a
duel. Also, (and more importantly) Kaiser Glider can kill Jinzo and live, LIVE I
TELL YOU! *cough* uhh yes.. I just love using him to kill off an opponent's
Jinzo
I realise this tip is becoming quite lengthy, but I don't
feel like stopping now... So onwards I go!
Lord of D. is a must
have in any Dragon deck, imo. Not just for the Flute effect, but its effect
protects Dragons against any targetting effect! Use this card combined with DNA
Surgery and you just got yourself a non-targettable face-up field. I recommend
using 2 of these in your deck, since 3 is excessive and 2 is just too few
^_^;;
The best trap for Dragons is most likely to be Dragon's Rage.
I can't believe they made this baby a common (woot for me!), I've won so many
duels because of this card.
Example:
Opponent has 2200 lp's
left. 3 scapegoat tokens and a Vampire Lord, your field consists out of Dragon's
Rage and Troop Dragon (great stall card). Summon another Dragon (say a Luster
Dragon #1) and congrats, you've just won the game.
What Dragons
should fear most though, are the notorious Jars and DD Lady's. That's why I also
use Light of Intervention, at least this way you know what you're up against.
Funny thing is your opponent often forgets it's already out there. I've faced
plenty of opponents who (after their Witch was destroyed) would still search for
Fiber Jar, while Light of Intervention was active, not only destroy it, but
still try to set it, whilst it wasn't even their ownly monster.
In
short, a Dragon deck should try to have the following:
*Powerful
Dragons with good effects to back them up
*Lord of D's to keep your opponent
from using say Exiled Force or Change of Heart
*Dragon's Rage for trampling
your opponent silly
*Light of Intervention (or another perhaps even Royal
Command) to stop those nasty flip effects.
