Why
Water Decks are the Best
Ok first I just want to say that I believe
originality is the most important element in yugioh, more important than money,
skill, luck, staples, etc...
Second I don't care if anyone who gets
offended by anything I say b/c you probably will be. Also I don't want anyone to
email me saying well my deck could beat your deck...Trust me that won't happen.
I've slaughtered Hand Control, Chaos, Deck Destruction, Exodia, Final, Fiends,
Warriors, Burners and what not at our local tournament that normally runs at
least 60 people all playing the best of the best of the current
metagame...
3rd Breaker and Yata and CED aren't all that great as
everyone makes them out to be. (yes they are very good, but not
invincible)
Ok now that I've got that off my chest I'm going to
tell everyone WHY WATER DECKS ARE SIMPLY THE BEST!
1st is obviously
A Legendary Ocean...and I don't want to hear any whining about all the
m/t removal b/c there is equally as much counter cards to stop that... (SSt8,
Magic Jammer, IO, Cursed Seal of the Forbidden Spell, Spell Vanishing, Judgement
of Anubis...need I go on...)
2nd is Tornado Wall and or
Gravity Bind. I personally prefer Gravity Bind b/c it stops most monsters
anyways plus it works great with a LO and it is playable by
itself.
3rd is LeviaDragon and The Legendary
Fisherman. Each one has their own strengths and weaknesses. TLF is great b/c
it can't be attacked and its unaffected by ALL magic cards. Leviadragon is great
b/c it lets you get a direct attack in for 2500 w/out having to worry about
traps or monsters. Its only weakness is you got to get rid of your "umi" which
is the card that this deck is basically based around. I try to save this combo
as a finishing move that way I won't need my ocean.
4th is the fact
that Tribe Infecting Virus and Sinister Serpent OWN water decks.
They are great in every other deck, but they kill in this one. If I have A LO
and gravity bind on the field your going to have a hard time killing my Tribe
b/c it will be LV 3 with 1800...Also Tribe is great in this deck anyways b/c you
can use your extra Legendary Oceans in your hand as your discard cost...(this
principle rings true for your counter cards like Cursed Seal of the Forbidden
Spell...can you say goodbye all MST...)
5th is Amphibious
Bugroth MK-3. It is the most deadly direct attacker in the game so far. With
Legendary Ocean on the Field he will be lv 3 with 1700 direct attack each
turn...can you say ouch. Also with Gravity Bind on the field you can just laugh
at your opponent with all of his weak beat-down monsters on the field as they
are helpless to your monster's onslaught. Try putting Mage Power or UWS on him
and he is game winning.
6th is Mother Grizzly, Cure Mermaid,
Aqua Spirit, and Fenrir. All are great support for this type of deck. The
main reason this deck wins is speed. It has more speed that anything else out
there. More than zombies (but it is close) and warriors. Mother Grizzly has
great to be the best searcher...even better than mystic tomato if I may be so
bold...can you say Catapult Turtle or Cure Mermaid or MK-3...
7th
is really a water card but works amazingly well in this Deck is one of my
favorite cards Injection Fairy Lily. Can you say gravity bind...or
perhaps cure mermaid, if your playing Tornado Wall chances are you have plenty
of LP to spare
And the biggest reason why this deck is amazing has
got to be Catapult Turtle and Magical Scientist. With LO on the
field Catapult Turtle is lv 4 so no tribute plus you can special summon him with
Last Will or Mother Grizzly. Thats actually a favorite combo of mine, I'll
suicide my Mother Grizzly into my opponent's monster and watch their face go
from completly clueless to absolute horror by special summoning C. Turtle then
playing Last Will to special summon Magical Scientist...Actually this combo
works with any monster you have that you destroy if you play 2 last
wills...
The main reason why this works is b/c each card has
amazing combo potential, but works by itself, ex LO, gravity bind, magical
scientist, and c. turtle... The only cards that needs anything is The Legendary
Fisherman and MK-3 but if your playing this deck I'm hoping your smart enough to
play 3 Legendary Oceans.
Speed is the key to winning these
days. (Don't believe me look at all the chaos decks being played that win
the tournaments...)It has replaced both attack and effects. Play Card
Destruction, Last Will, Mirage of Nightmare, PoG, Graceful Charity, Mother
Grizzly, and Cyber Jar and you can get Magical Scientist out in no time. And you
don't have to worry about LP with Cure Mermaid. And even if they do stop the
Scientist combo with TT or something you still have your MK-3s and Levia Dragon
to easily get the job done!
Also water decks get another boost in
the next booster pack Ancient Sanctuary... so everyone Beware of Mermaid
Knight (lv 4 1500 att...when "umi" is on the field it can attack twice in
the same battle phase...thats 3200 every turn if you can't do the
math)
