Hey, Perrin003 here.  Due to great annoyance with the complaints of people online and here in my hometown, I'd like to get this in the open.

Upperdeck ISN'T the evil you all think it is!!!

Ok, first of all, I'd like to address those who say that sets are coming out WAY too fast.  Yes, i know, hardly anyone has the money to keep up with the current set, and the metagame is hardly able to develop and diversify in the short span of time between sets.  I agree with this notion entirely, as I have been playing since LOB, and have kept up with the sets.  But you know what, they are Trying to do so for a long-term goal.  I know, it sounds stupid and like I'm simply rambling, but UD is actually trying to get a point across by sending out sets so fast.  By doing so, they allow players to have a larger cardpool, and greater ablity to create the new decks that have been in anticipation from Japan.  Not only this, they do so in order to make us ACTUALLY viable for play in Japan.  UD is attempting to release most/ all of the cards that are available to Japanese players in order to cross the gap of years that they have over the USA.  By doing this, they are trying to enable US players to be able to compete in International tournaments without having cards that are inferior, or restricting the japanese players.  Just wanted to give some background on that.

Then, to those who are complaining about the rarity of cards losing

value: it's going to happen.  Think about it:  in the days of LOB and MRD, the secret rares just weren't really playable in a serious environment.  To be honest, i've never even seen anyone with a Gate Guardian deck that I haven't busted up laughing at because of the lack of playability.  When the secret rares that were ACTUALLY playable came out, however, Upper Deck took advantage of this by re-printing these cards to be available to the general public.  I know, this seems like a feeble point, but really, once the next sets came out, they lost a slight bit of power anyway, and people weren't as eager to get them to begin with.  Obvious exceptions are, of course, easily found.  The one that resounds most in seasoned players heads is, of course: JINZO. The seemingly most stupid move in dueling history to make the most powerful monster in the game (to some, at least) available to anyone.  Then, when I think about it more, I kinda liked the idea.  Many duelists who are just starting off never are able to even come close to beating those seasoned players (starting from PSV or

sooner) because of the immense amount of good cards they have.  The newer player cannot even get past their Mirror Force easily, and they end up wasting both players time.  With the release of this, however, at least a challenge can be given to the more seasoned duelist.  It gives both players the much needed experience of dueling with/ against the Jinzo, and helps both to prepare for future encounters.  With this arguement, the newer starter decks, especially the Evolution decks are also bashed. " The release of Swords of Revealing Light as a common?  Axe of Despair a dime a dozen??? What's the world coming to?"  Well, again, this goes back to providing the needed experience to those newer and with less money to invest in the game.  Also, have you noticed that UD actually waited a while until releasing the better cards.  Jinzo lost a little hype (though not much) before being revived by the BPT release last year.  Swords of Revealing Light was appearing in less and less competitive decks, and so, they reprinted as a common.  They waited long enough that they didn't completely screw up the original cards hype.  In addition, these newer versions of the cards don't fetch anywhere near as much as the originals for sale.  Ebay places the PSV Jinzo selling anywhere from $19-25, while the BPT version sells for a meagre $8-13.  Just saying, they don't really lose their value with the increased supply, but the newer versions are simply worth less to the collector (and fairly equal to the pure duelist).

So, after this, if you STILL disagree and want to send hatemail, you can send it to YCBurninator@aol.com  I will attempt to answer most e-mails.

Please, refrain from spamming/ virus mail however.  Thank you for your time.
