Livening Up the Tournament Scene
A BerserkerAzn Article
I’ve been to many tournaments and played many people. After a while though, this game gets boring. This article is just my way of giving out ideas on how to liven up the tournament scene with a variety of different dueling methods.
Step One: Get a regular playing group together. Having a group of people to play with is so much better than just hanging out by yourself, or one or two other people. I myself have a group of about 7 people that always hang out at our local tournament and the adjacent Wendy’s. It’s great having a close-knit group to hang and duel with.
Step Two: If you are tired with the amount of deck types in your Metagame, then just take initiative and change it yourself. I myself have played several different deck-types. Even if you lose with them it’s always fun to try out new strategies.
Step Three: Another way to liven up the game is to remove the staples. Get together with a friend or two and make up a plan to duel each other using a deck that has no staples in it. I guarantee that the game’ll be better that way. Instead of using Raigeki why not try Dark Master-Zorc’s effect? The duels last longer, and you get to use a variety of new cards. This game isn’t just about winning, it’s about having fun.
Step Four: Help out with the administrators. If people are setting up tournaments or need ideas or help, you can provide input. I’ve helped out a ton at my tourney and I’ve been awarded cards and money and stuff for it. You also get your own say in how some things are done.
Step Five: Don’t quit! If this game gets too boring for you, then take a hiatus (a break) from the game. Come back in a month or two, but don’t sell your cards. You’ll see that the tournament scene should’ve taken a large jump in the way things work. Maybe there’ll be new faces, stronger opponents or new cards. UDE’s release schedule is for a new set every two months. Waiting two months’ll let you see how fun the game was and also lets you have more time for other things without forcing you to quit the game completely. If money is your problem, then stop buying packs. Save your money for tournaments and don’t join a tournament every week. I’m sure your tournaments have room for people to just trade and not duel at all. I only spend money on 4 of every pack that comes out. I trade all my cards for the rest of the cards. One of my friends went around and asked for screwed up holos. He started out trading commons and free messed-up holos that people donated. He ended up with secret rares and other hard to get cards. Just know who to trade and what to trade. If you hear somebody needs a Ha Des, then go get it and see what they’ll trade for it. If they decide not to trade, then you’ve got yourself a pretty useful card that is also a hot item for trade.
Bulletin Notes:
Take initiative and work to change and improve your tournament scene.
Take a break from the game if you’re bored of it.
Don’t spend too much money on the game; use your wit and skills to trade people.
Stop playing with the same cards all the time. Try for a little variety. You may find that the new game will surprise you.
Have fun and don’t give up playing the game.
