Hey all, I'm here
because all the time I see people throw perfectly good cards away because no
one else uses them. These include things like Stealth Bird and Parasite
Paracide. I'll review a few of my favorites in detail.
Ojama Trio
*DCR-047*
Trap
Special Summon 3 Ojama Tokens (Beast/Light/Level 2/Atk
0/Def 1000) in Defense position on your opponent's side of the Field.
The tokens cannot be used as tribute for a Tribute Summon. When an Ojama
Token is destroyed, inflict 300 points of damage to the controller's Life
Points.
I like this card mainly because it takes up summoning
space. Say they have two monsters that are useless because of Gravity
Bind or something. They attempt to play a third...and can't. As
they take up 3 spaces, it stops most armies in their tracks. And if your
opponent destroys them in any way to free up space, he/she will take
damage.
Stealth Bird *IOC-068*
Effect Monster
Level 3/Dark/
Winged-Beast
700/1700
You can flip this card into face-down Defense
Position once per turn during your Main Phase. When this card is Flip
Summoned successfully, inflict 1000 points of damage to your opponent's Life
Points.
If placed in the right deck, this little sucker can end the
game from the word go. Take 3 of them and 3000 damage a turn. It
adds up a lot faster than you think it would. And although the Flip
Summon part is a little hard, all it needs is a little protection. This
card might need a deck centered around it, though.
Ordeal of a Traveler
*PGD-042*
Continuous Trap
You can activate this card's effect when your
opponent attacks. Your opponent randomly selects 1 card in your hand and
calls the type of the card (Monster, Magic, or Trap). If your opponent
calls it wrong, the attacking monster is returned to its owner's
hand.
Sure, this is asking to be MST'd or Dusted, but it thrives fine
with a little everyday protection (Imperial, anyone?). It does reveal
your hand to your opponent, and is useless when you have no hand, but is very
aggravating to your opponent. If it stays long enough it may impair
his/her memory and they may call a card wrong even if they know what it
is.
Parasite Paracide *PSV-003*
Effect Monster
Level
2/Earth/Insect
500/300
FLIP: Put this card face-up in your opponent’s
deck and shuffle it. When your opponent draws this card, it is
immediately Special Summoned on your opponent’s side of the field face-up in
Defense Position and inflicts 1000 points of Direct Damage to your
opponent’s Life Points. From this point, all face-up Monster Cards on your
opponent’s side of the field are treated as Insect-Type monsters as long as
this card remains face-up on the field.
This card is begging for a
combo. It got an early one with Insect Barrier, and now gives a huge
boost to Insect Princess. This card also has burn capabilities, since it
does 1000 damage. The flip part is a little hard, but like all cards it
needs protection. When you think about it, Waboku and Imperial Order can
protect most anything. All you need is a way to buy a turn and then sic
this nasty little bug on them for a good chewing out for using it and annoying
them.
And now the last card, my personal favorite...
Jowgen the
Spiritualist *LON-061*
Effect Monster
Level
3/Light/Spellcaster
200/1300
Randomly discard 1 card from your hand to
the Graveyard to destroy all Special Summoned monsters on the field. In
addition, as long as this card remains face-up on the field, no monsters can
be Special Summoned.
OK, so everything in this rant needs
protection. I know Jowgen as the Chaos killer and Necrofear
stopper. He's that useful. At the very least, side deck one of
these guys. Should you come across a Chaos, Revival, or Necrofear deck,
no sweat, just put this in and screw your opponent. The random discard
isn't that bad because how often will there be any more than 3-4 cards in your
hand anyway? I really like this guy, give him a try.
E-mail me at
Jowgen the Great@aol.com or IM me at Jowgen the Great. If you care to
disagree, I'll gladly take you on with these cards and show you how annoying
they can actually be. I just want them to be played in some games and
not collect dust in shoeboxes.
Until next time,
Jowgen
