Really what were they
thinking?-Dark Warrior
I got bored today and
decided to read the whole Tips, News, etc., for October when I came across a
string of Dark Beginnings. Now one article really got to me to thinking. I'm a
great duelist who has taken on the best of the best in his store and has ridden
the waves of their power while they left out of boredom. Dark Beginnings
destroys the true skill of an upcoming duelist. All of us have hunted, traded,
bought, and used our wise judgment to get the most sought after cards in the
game to make a great deck. This is how you play Yu-Gi-Oh a person has to buy
their cards, play Russian roulette (1 bullet in a six-shooter, spinning the
barrel and taking a chance pulling the trigger) and see if they get their
powerful card they need for their deck or junk for bonfire pile, make a deck,
try it, fail or rule, buy more cards, edit their deck, rinse and
repeat.
The fact of the matter is that UDE is
trying to make massive profit while killing this game's challenge and skill, by
basically handing any n00b/beginner/whiny 5 year-old with Chinese cards or
whatever you like to call them, with the almighty dollar the cards he needs to
win. With the greatest of ease a n00b can buy in a week the whole set of Exodia
all the control cards (Delinquent, Forceful, Confiscation, Don...), and every
other card sought after and called scared in the game. What's worse is that most
of the cards they will have no idea how to use. They'll be spending 20 minutes
staring at Pot of Greed saying... "how many cards do I draw?" Its TWO you little
rocket scientist!!!!! Now I love a test of skill but Dark Beginnings is where I
put my deck down and draw the line.
I
absolutely resent the fact that these people will now longer have the chance
to work for their cards. I remember my old days playing 3 Solemn Wishes and the
Card Destruction/Gate Guardian combo ... so young ... so incredibly stupid I was
back then ... but I learned from my mistakes and became a better duelist. I went
from an undefeated 5-7 games a night to mastering the game with an average of a
4 win to 1 loss ratio. I believe that this new expansion will rob the new
players of learning how to make use of what they have, and not what they can get
for a few dollars. To the truth, I know this ranting doesn't matter complaining
about the honor of the game in releasing this travesty.....
Oh well we have
to do what we always do adept, as always, to the foolish choices of
Upperdeck.
