Dark Paladin's Dimension
Toons
1.27.05
Hello again to one and all!
First, I want to say a couple of things since a couple of
points need to be made.
*Point 1--Please don't send me your decks and expect me to
fix them for Regionals. I am the WRONG person for that. I
will be happy to give input and tips, but if you got to
Regionals, you must be doing SOMETHING right. :) Just
believe in yourself and the heart of the cards...I mean,
just believe in yourself! (I suppose faith in the deck
doesn't hurt, just don't go during a duel Heart of the
Cards...or I need to draw the right card or else...unless
you're trying to psych your opponent out.)
*Point 2--I do NOT thing Mage Power is a bad card. I just
think it should've been a Super Rare. It IS a good card,
especially with United We Stand banned (that rhymed :) so
stop telling me I hate the card.
*Point 3, this is my 3rd article in a week, and don't get
use to this. I currently had this week as a break from
college (Winter Break) so expect ONE article a week from now
on, starting next week. Probably on Wednesdays or Fridaiys.
Anyhow...since Dark Beginnings 2 is bringing us a lot of new
Toons and even some Toon Support, I found it only fitting to
build a Toon Deck. Let me just quickly refresh your memory
as to the Toons that will be released.
Toon Masked Sorcerer
Toon Cannon Soldier
Toon Gemini Elf
Toon Goblin Attack Force
Toon Table of Contents
Toon Defense
So...we're getting 4 new toon monsters, and a spell and trap
card for support.
I suggest dusting off your Toon cards, or even decks IF
anyone out there actually has one. This has got to be one of
the most original deck ideas ever.
Also, Toon Goblin Attack Force, Cannon Soldier, and Masked
Sorcerer have identical effects to their Toonless
counterparts. GAF having the defense switch, Cannon Soldier
having the tribute monsters for 500 points effect, and
Masked Sorcere's inflict damage and draw a card. Most of you
may know of Toon Gemini Elf's effect of "When this card does
damage to an opponent, he/she randomly selects one card from
their hand to the graveyard. I seriouisly believe that with
these 6 mere cards, a tournament winning Toon Deck could be
constructed. With just Toon World, Toon Summoned Skull, and
Toon BEWD, (yes there are a couple more, just not worth
mentioning) it almost couldn't be done.
*LET ME STRESS THAT FOR ALL THOSE WHO MAY NOT BE AWARE THAT
TOONS CAN, YES CAN, CAN BE ATTACKED BY NON TOON MONSTERS*
FOR ALL THOSE WHO HAVE EVER SEEN PEGASUS DUEL AND USE TOONS,
THEY CAN, CAN, CAN BE DESTROIED BY NON-TOONS*
That being said...
Now, here's a well-constructed Toon Deck :)
Monsters
Toon Blue Eyes White Dragon x2
Toon Summon Skull x2
I realize this gives us 4 Tribute Monsters, but they are the
only powerhouses of the Toon Family currently. You could try
3 Skulls and a BEWD if you want, since Skull only requires
one tribute.
For other monsters, this is pretty straight-forward.
Toon Goblin Attack Force x3
Toon Gemini Elf x3
Toon Cannon Soldier x2
Toon Masked Sorcerer x2
Now, the 3 Toon Goblins and Toon Gemini Elves add many good
things to this deck.
Boasting 2300 and 1900 attack respectively for Level 4
monsters is great.
Plus, Gemini Elf has her hand disruption ability which could
be nasty especially if you could get more than one of her on
the field. Toon Cannon Soldier can add a little extra burn
and be tribute bait. Toon Masked Sorcerer can add a little
defense and also be tribute bait.
Magician of Faith--Why you may ask? She can be essential
incase Toon World is destroied. Set her and you can resummon
all your beloved Toons next turn.
Gear Golemn the Moving Fortress--This monster will help add
a little defense (with 2200) and can't be knocked out by a 4
star monster except GAF or if the monster has an equip. If
you can't get Gear, go for a 2000 defeneder (Mystical Elf,
Giant Soldier of stone might not hurt either) to buy the
time you need to draw Toon World.
Cyber Jar--This card adds more speed to the deck also,
allowing you to draw 5 cards when destroied. Also, it can be
a good defensive manuever if you're swarmed.
Spells
Toon World x3 (DUH!) "This card allows me to summon any and
all of my Toon Monsters"--Maxamillion Pegasus...hehe Anyway,
why shouldn't this card be in a Toon Deck, come on guys.
Toon Table of Contents x3 Now, this card, surprisingly, acts
JUST as it did on the anime. No kidding. By playing it, you
can bring ANY card from your deck that has "TOON" in it's
name. Obviously, best for helping get Toon World to your
hand. This card adds speed to the deck, and will never be
dead weight.
Why? Even if you have Toon World out, and say a Toon GAF and
Toon Gemini Elf you could use it to pull Toon BEWD or Skull
for added beatdown.
Swords of Revealing Light--This card can add some much
needed defense before Toon World is played. It also gives
you a little extra time to draw what you need.
Pot of Greed--Since your Toons are useless until you draw
Toon World, this card giving you extra draw power is a very
valuable asset.
Premature Burial--In case your opponent manages to destroy a
Toon, just have this to bring them back.
Mystical Space Typhoon--A card needed to counter opponent's
s/t cards, and can be used offensively. Toon World needs to
be protected, or your Toons are destroied.
Different Dimension Capsule--Lots of people don't like this
card, but here's the deal. Either your opponent KNOWS you're
getting Toon World and will waste a trap to destroy this, OR
just let you have it. Waiting one turn isn't a big deal.
Heavy Storm--This card can also add some defense against
your opponent's face down cards. A good card to help protect
Toon World.
Poison of the Old Man--This is a great card healing your
with 1200 LP or doing 800 LP damage to your opponent. With
all the paying you have to do for Toon World, and to attack
with your Toons, it isn't a bad option.
Change of Heart--Even though the deck only has 4 tribute
monsters, this adds a little speed to the game. Whether you
tribute it, or use it to destroy your opponent's monster to
set up a direct attack, it'll help you get at your opponent
quicker.
Scapegoat--This card adds defense for you, whether or not
you have Toon World on the field. If you're swarmed, or your
field is empty, this is a great defensive move.
Reload--This card is like Card Destruction but better since
it only works for you. This also adds some much needed speed
to the deck, and is a quickplay.
Have fun with that.
Traps
7 Tools of the Bandit and Magic Jammer--Both of these are
absolutely necessary to prevent Dark Hole or Heavy Storm
from destroying your Toons and/or Toon World.
Toon Defense--Believe it or not, you only need one of these,
since it is continuous. With how offensive, beatdown, and
fast the Toon deck can be, this is just the frosting on the
cake. It protects all your Toons except for Toon BEWD and
Toon Skull.
Jar of Greed--I also recommend this to help speed the deck
along. It helps more if you're trying to draw Toon World of
course.
Call of the Haunted--For the same reason as Premature
Burial, this can resurrect one of your dead Toons which is
never bad.
Negate Attack--This can also add a little defense, with or
without Toon World on the field. If there's a monster or
monsters you'd like to protect.
Magic Cylinder--Another good defense card that can stop your
opponent in their tracks.
So, this gives us a final deck that looks like so...
Monsters x17
Toon Blue Eyes White Dragon x2
Toon Summon Skull x2
Toon Goblin Attack Force x3
Toon Gemini Elf x3
Toon Cannon Soldier x2
Toon Masked Sorcerer x2
Magician of Faith
Gear Golem the Moving Fortress
Cyber Jar
Spells x16
Toon World x3
Toon Table of Contents x3
Mystical Space Typhoon
Premature Burial
Change of Heart
Swords of Revealing Light
Pot of Greed
Different Dimension Capsule
Poison of the Old Man
Scapegoat
Heavy Storm
Reload
Traps x7
Toon Defense
Call of the Haunted
7 Tools of the Bandit
Magic Jammer
Jar of Greed
Magic Cylinder
Negate Attack
This Toon Deck has a 17 monster/16 spell/ 7 trap ratio which
should work quite well. When these cards come out, I'd like
to see some adventurous people build this or a similar deck
and let me know how it goes.
A couple of notes to end on. First, all of these new Toons,
I believe, are commons. Secondly, I'm PERFECTLY aware I left
Jinzo out of this deck. It was intentionally done, as Jinzo
does not help this deck. If you are going to send me mail
about my hating Jinzo (which I don't) don't bother. Finally,
Jinzo doesn't HURT this deck, he just isn't needed in my
opinion.
Now, a quick question for next time. I wasn't going to do
deck building here, but obviously, am. So, which deck would
you like to see built next.
a) A Legendary Ocean deck
b) Exodia Necross deck (Yes, NECROSS, not your plain Exodia)
c) Sanctuary in the Sky deck
d) Lifepoint gain/maintain/heal deck
e) A deck around the Ritual monster ..... (if you choose
this one, choose the ritual monster you'd like done.)
Now, the winner and the runner up will be done on my
articles in the coming weeks. However, they may not be the
NEXT two articles. Anyway VOTE VOTE VOTE.
You have until Monday the 31st to vote. I believe that's
everything.
I am still answering EVERY e-mail, sorry if I don't today,
I'm currently on my way to work for 9 hours :) I will get
back to e-mails tomorrow, worry not.
If anyone would like to meet me, I live in Sault Ste. Marie,
Michigan. If you do too, or nearby, send me an e-mail and
we'll hook up. I'm posting a picture of myself in an
upcoming article, but I like this "mystery" for now.
As always, e-mail me @ tsearcy@lssu.edu
Until next time...
You stay class, planet Earth :)
