This is the third in a series of Metal Raiders preview decks I have
assembled, and out of them, this is potentially the most powerful and
entertaining to use.
We're going to play a Direct Damage deck. Yes, direct damage.
We now have enough cards to build a decent direct damage deck. The deck
will revolve around the Catapult Turtle, which we have seen Yugi use before
(SPOILER: He uses it again in the Duelist Kingdom semifinals). We will
also throw in one of Joey's little tricks, Shield & Sword.
Metal Raiders cards are in bold.

This deck mostly revolves around the Catapult Turtle. It is Level 5
with 1000/2000 stats and allows you to sacrifice a monster to deal direct damage
to your opponent's life points equal to half the sacrificed monster's Attack
power. For example, if I used a Blue-Eyes White Dragon with this effect,
it would deal 1500 points of direct damage to your opponent's life points.
You can use this effect AFTER your battle phase, so you can attack with BEWD for
up to 3000 damage, then launch it for 1500 more! That's over half your
opponent's LP from one monster in one turn!
Giant Soldier of Stone, Aqua Madoor, and Mystical Elf are there for
defensive purposes, and to combo with Shield & Sword and Last Will. A
full explanation of the entire combo will come later. Sangan works
PERFECTLY for this deck because all of the cards except Dark Elf have less than
1500 attack points. La Jinn is there just for some kind of attacking
=/

Now I know you're thinking "Why does he have three Last Wills and three
Soul Exchanges?" It's quite a simple explanation, actually. With
Last Will, you can pull pretty much ANY monster card from your deck (except Dark
Elf) and play it as a special summon, including our friend Catapult Turtle (and
you don't even need a sacrifice for it!). Soul Exchange allows you to use
your opponent's monsters to perform Catapult Turtle's effect. Shield & Sword
will make your defensive monsters potent attackers with 2000 attack. We
can pull another combo with these in a second...
Tremendous Fire lets you do 1000 direct damage to your opponent with a cost
of 500 direct damage to yourself. If you can finish your opponent off
quickly, the negative effect won't matter that much.
You can recycle Last Wills, Shield & Sword, and Soul Exchange with the
Magician of Faith.

Total: 48 cards
Castle Walls will increase your monsters' defense to 2500, then you can use
Shield & Sword to have 2500 attack, then launch them for 1250 more!
Ultimate Offering lets you summon more monsters for the mayhem.
Let's walk through the long combo you can run with this deck:
1. Have a Catapult Turtle and Ultimate Offering face-up on the field.
2. Summon some monsters onto the field.
3. Activate any Last Wills you have.
4. If you have any Soul Exchanges or Change of Heart, use them to sacrifice
your opponent's monsters for Catapult Turtle's effect (Edo says it's OK).
Now, if they have mostly defensive monsters, wait until the next step.
5. Use Shield & Sword to flip the attack and defense stats of the
monsters on the field. Now you can use Soul Exchange/Change of Heart to
tribute your opponent's monsters for Catapult Turtle's effect.
6. Activate any Castle Walls you have face-down on the field to increase
your monsters' defense powers (which are now their attack powers) (Edo says to
make any modifications before swapping the stats).
7. Unless you used Soul Exchange, attack with your monsters. If you
used Soul Exchange, skip this step.
8. Use Catapult Turtle's effect to launch your monsters.
9. Take advantage of your Last Wills to special summon more monsters onto
the field (the Shield & Sword effect will take effect AFTER they go onto the
field), then launch them.
10. Watch your opponent's jaw drop down to the floor as their life points
quickly vanish.
The entertaining part is this deck will get even more powerful when
Labyrinth Wall and Millenium Shield are released, which each have 0/3000 stats
for Level 5. This is a really fun deck to play, and your opponent will
cry. However, you need to execute this deck's purpose QUICKLY, because if
your opponent manages to get set up with any sort of powerful offense, you are
going to be in trouble. This is a fairly large deck, but there are enough
ways to get all the cards you need to pull of the combo. If you use a deck
like this and you feel it is running too slow, I would suggest cutting a copy of
some of the 3x cards. You may want to, because there are only 18
monsters in this 48 card deck. But hey, 10 of them have 2000 defense and
we've thrown in Wall of Illusion for its powerful effect and Dark Elf for major
attacking just in case.
This is a defensive version of a Catapult Turle deck.
Tomorrow, I will prepare an offensive version of this deck, which is
certainly sure to knock the socks off your opponent. You may prefer
the offensive version. If you have any comments, send them to
NickWhiz1@buckeye-express.com.
See you tomorrow!
