Right as I am a rookie at all this, I know you
now laughing after seeing my deck, but after this you may change your mind.
After collecting for a while to build up a gate guardian deck it ended in
failure after I could never get him on the field. Next I changed to my blue eyes
deck, which was mostly stolen to leave me with this deck.
Playing in my first tournament I knew it was
going to be hard so here it goes………
64 people at this tournament – elimination
matches.
Me with my brother (Liam) and my mate
(Charlie) were all in the competition.
We all drew numbers a got ready to face our
first opponents.
Round 1. Me vs. Steve
After drawing our first cards I already had a
nice plan. Steve placed down la ginn the mystical genie of the lamp (1800/1000).
I placed down my castles of dark illusions faced down in defence mode
(920/1930). Steve thought I was bluffing and attacked it. Flipping it over. Next
I placed down my armoured zombie in attack mode. Steve then was only drawing
1500 or lower cards, whilst my zombie was pumped up to (2100/800). This won me
the first round. The second round was the same as I drew my other castle and my
dragon zombie (1600/0), which won me that as well. Steve drew no good cards
besides his battle ox (1700/1000).
Liam and Charlie both won their first rounds
also.
Round 2. Me vs. Craig (labyrinth
deck)
Drawing our hands again I drew a bad hand. I
got 1 lava battle guard (1550/1800), 1 unhappy maiden (0/100), 1 mushroom man#2
(1250/800), 1de-spell, 1 magic jammer. Playing down my mushroom man#2 (1250/800)
against Craig’s guardian of the labyrinth (1000/1200). I easily beat it but
realised he must have had the labyrinth deck. After transferring my mushroom to
Craig he couldn’t figure out why his LP was going down. After drawing out my
ring of magnetism and another genie I was set on winning until he drew the black
hole and placed it on the field, but I stopped it using the white hole, which
was a first. I ended the match after getting my lava battle guard (1550/1800) on
the field, after placing down my milus radiant earlier in the game to make
lava’s (2050/1800).
Round 2 was fast as I quickly got out my dark
elf (2000/800), jirai gumo (2200/800) and a stim pack to put up a wall, then
drawing my witch’s apprentice to boost up my dark elf (3200/800). I lost 7000 LP
attacking to win the game. But after beating he’s curse of dragon (2000/1500) he
gave up.
Both Liam and Charlie made it
through.
Round 3. Me vs. John (gate guardian
deck)
This was a funny game as I drew muka muka
(600/300) and my black hole in this turn. John was like me he started with a
gate guardian but stuck with him. He drew all 3 parts in one turn but still
needed to get 9 tributes. The only card he could play was his fire kracken
(1600/1400). I easily beat it with my powered up muka muka (1800/1500). Later he
managed to get the gate guardian in play and I was really amazed as I thought it
was impossible to do, but I ruined he’s plan buy using black hole. After already
using he’s monster reborn he was stuck and ended up playing a dark elf
(2000/800), which was a bad move after he had 400 LP left. I drew my la ginn
mystical genie of the lamp (1800/1000) and after keeping malevolent nuzzler in
my hand added it to my genie to win the game with my genie
(2500/1000).
Charlie and Liam again made it
through.
Round 4. Me vs. Liam (Bewd
deck)
Playing my own brother, I knew it was going to
be hard because he had a much better deck than me.
Firstly we drew our cards. I drew my castle of
dark illusions (920/1930), my armoured zombie (1500/0), witch’s apprentice
(500/550), monster reborn and my de-spell. Playing down my castle in defence
mode and my de spell (faced down), against Liam’s mystical elf in defence mode
(800/2000). Liam next played down reinforcements, and yami to boosts up he’s elf
to (1500/2200) knowing I couldn’t beat him in one turn. Next I drew my la ginn
the mystical genie of the lamp (1800/1000) playing that with my witch’s
apprentice (500/550) to boast la ginn up to (2300/1000) which easily beat his
elf. For a couple of turns Liam was drawing but not playing any cards down
besides one which he placed down in defence (face down). Next I drew my pot of
greed and also played down my armoured zombie (1500/0). Liam drew and placed
down lord of d. (1200/1100) and then the flute of summoning dragon, playing one
of his blue eyes white dragon (3000/2500). None of my cards were any good. He
only attacked my face up cards so I played down a lava battleguard (1550/1800)
and 2 swamp battleguards (all face down) in three different goes summoning each
one. Liam placed low attackers but still did not attack. I next drew my
malevolent nuzzler and my milus radiant (300/250) and placed them both on the
field (face down). Liam next drew a card and played it faced down in defence. I
then drew my dark elf (2000/800) and placed it on the field and attacked his
face down card, it was the stern mystic (1500/1200) allowing all my faced down
cards to be flipped over. It did me a favour, which took my lava battleguard
from (1550/1800) to (3850/1800). Which destroyed his blue eyes white dragon.
This won me the first round on a time limit.
2nd round was over in seconds as he
got bewd on the field in 2 turns and whipped out every card I put on the field.
Last round was harder for Liam as in my hand I drew muka muka (600/300), black
hole, castle of dark illusions (920/1930), dragon zombie (1600/0) and milus
radiant (300/250). In a couple of turns playing muka muka (600/300) and milus
radiant (300/250) with 5 cards in my hand boosted muka muka to (2600/1800) and
destroyed some of his lower cards (Trap master, Master and expert ECT…) but he
managed to get lord of d. (1200/1100) and the dragon flute getting 1 bewd of the
field the destroying my muka muka the later getting a second bewd on the field.
After destroying one bewd with a combo of dark elf (2000/800), witch’s
apprentice (500/550) and malevolent nuzzler boosting dark elf to (3200/800) he
used monster reborn on it. He destroyed my witch so I ended it all for him using
dark hole, which got rid of two bewd’s his lord of d. and his ryu-kishin powered
(faced down). Destroying my dark elf as well. Using my monster reborn on dark
elf and drawing another witch’s apprentice won me the game, as Liam could not
get any thing out over 2000 atk.
Charlie made it through with
ease.
Round 5. Me vs. yak juos (ultra jap
deck)
Now this boy was 10 years old and was Japanese
and spoke very good English. The cards he was using I had never even seen before
and he said he goes back to Japan to bye all these cards that aren’t even out in
the states and England. All he’s a card was in Japanese so I can’t remember what
they were called. He even brought with him an English translator. So lets put it
this way he kicked my arse and I didn’t even make a mark on him.
The final. (Exodia deck) Charlie vs. Yak Juos
(ultra jap deck)
Charlie next faced yak juos and got beat the
same as me, but Charlie lasted a bit longer and was able to win the first round.
Third place play off. Me vs. lee (random
deck)
Playing this game was hard but easy. Even
though it ended in a draw in all 3 rounds.
First round started off with me placing la ginn
the mystical genie of the lamp (1800/1000), and lee placing down 7 coloured fish
(1800/800). We carried on matching cards for cards running out of time in the
end.
2nd round. This was getting a bit
boring as we again kept drawing the same type of cards. He could of won this
round but used change of heart at the wrong moment making this round another
draw.
3rd round. In this round I was
becoming tired as I gave away 2500 LP because of lee using just desserts. Other
than that I drew my castle of dark illusions (920/1930) and my dragon zombie
(1600/0) which drew us back to 1500 LP each and unfortunately we ran out of time
again.

bewd’s)
OVERALL: I had a good tournament and as it was
my first I thought I did proper good. I feel sorry for any one like me who has
faced Yak Juos, as he looks like he’s never been beaten.
Good points: Well I’ve already said it as I did
quite well. And I got to see gate guardian in action.
Bad points: I can’t seem to find any besides I
had to face my brother in one of the rounds.
There should be another tournament
soon
