Fusion Deck, Brad Pontani, Good Times Comics and
Cards, Conroe, Texas, Sept 21, 2002. 37 players
We had 37 players show up for the Duelist King
Tournament this Saturday after a trial run with 31 a week ago! This is my
tourney winning deck. I will be making some changes after the play but
used it mostly to try out some combos and new cards and still managed to
win.
Monsters = 24
Relinquished, Invader of the Throne, 2 Summoned
Skull, Red Eyes Black Dragon, 2 Gigatech wolf, 2 cannon soldier, 2 Witch of
Black Forest, 3 Magician of Faith, Cyber Jar, Maha vailo, 2 Sangan, 3 Nimble
Momonga, 3 Jirai Gumo
Magic = 13
Mystical Space Typhoon, Soul Exchange, Raigeki,
Monster Reborn, Change of Heart, Dark Hole, Pot of Greed, Megamorph, Axe of
Despair, Rush Recklessly, 2 Polymerization, Black Illusion Ritual
Traps = 3
2 Magic Jammer, Mirror Force
Sideboard = 15
3 Trap Hole, Magic Jammer, 2 Heavy Storm, 3
Maneater bug, 3 La jinn the Genie, 2 Waboku, Blue Eyes white Dragon
Fusion = 3
2 Labyrinth Tank, 1 Black Skull
Dragon.
The main deck played very well most of the day but
I found that the Relinquished was too difficult to keep alive with all of the
removal spells around. Cyber jar played at the right moment several times
turned the tide from imminent defeat to victory. I would not use Megamorph
and the nimble momonga together but I rarely was behind in life after an early
squirrel onslaught. My favorite finish was in the finals where
the death blow was dealt by a momonga with an Axe of Despair.
My compliments to Kevin Kloosterman who owns Good
Times Comics and Cards for well run tournaments.
