For those of you have been reading my tournament reports, I
am sorry I haven't written a report for the last two weeks. The past two
tournaments I never made it past the first round. This weeks tournament
went much better for me; I made to the third round. Also, as a side
note, I received an entire box of Pharaoh's Servant boosters in the
mail from Upper Deck; apparently I was one of the top duelists in my
area. Well, on to the tournament report.
Round 1
Fiends of Darkness vs. ??? Deck
Duel 1
Roger the Skunk 8000-6200-3700-3400-900-450
Mo 8000-7950-6450-5850-4900-4600-3600-2600-1600-0
During this duel Mo had me on the ropes the entire
time. In the end Solemn Judgment saved from the jaws of defeat,
and I came back to win.
Duel 2
Roger the Skunk 8000
Mo 8000-5200-4100-2750-0
This duel was quick. I was able to bring out my forces
quickly.
Round 2
Fiends of Darkness vs. Gravity Bind Deck
Duel 1
Roger the Skunk
8000-7950-6750-6250-6150-3050-4050-2900-1750-250-0
A.S. 8000-9000-6600-7600-4200
In this round I faced the younger brother of duelist I just
defeated. A.S. caught me off guard with his Gravity Bind.
After a lengthy duel, A.S. finally managed to get me down to zero.
Duel 2
Roger the Skunk 8000-5500-4000-5000-4000
A.S. 8000-6550-5550-4100-5100-1700-0
Before this duel, I took out Rush Recklessly and
substituted Mystical Space Typhoon in order to deal more effectively
with A.S.'s Gravity Bind. The substitution proved to be very
effective along with Jinzo. I even dealt A.S. 1450 in life point
damage with a Man-Eater Bug with an Axe of Despair
attached.
Duel 3
Roger the Skunk 8000-6300-4300-2300
A.S. 8000-9000-7550-5100-4100-3100-0
Hayabusa Knight worked well in this duel. Most
of the damage that A.S. dealt was due to Just Deserts. During
these duels A.S. hardly ever dealt any damage to my life points via attack me
with a monster. A.S. was to often on the defensive; he needed more
power. Some Giant Soldiers of Stone with a Malevolent
Nuzzler or two would have been very effective in his deck.
Round 3
Fiends of Darkness vs. Good Beatdown
Deck
Duel 1
Roger the Skunk 8000-5450
Dan 8000-7000-6000-3600-1200-0
Dan is the brother of Chris, the judge for the
tournament. Dan beat me in the first round of last week's
tournament. Dan is a good duelist, but I just drew the right card every
time.
Duel 2
Roger the Skunk 8000-6200-4400-2600-0
Dan 8000-7000
The only damage Dan received was by his own hand: his
used Delinquent Duo. Dan kept taking-out my monsters with
Trap Hole.
Duel 3
Roger the Skunk 8000-6200-4400-2600-800-0
Dan 8000-7000
This was practically a carbon copy of the last duel. I
should have side-decked in my Heavy Storm and Cyber Jar.
All in all this was a good tournament. My thanks goes
out to IQ who traded his first edition Solemn Judgment for my
Goblin Attack Force at last week's tournament. I also was able to
trade to get two more Maha Vailo, Mask of Darkness, and two
Mystic Plasma Zone and two Gaia Power; thanks those of
who that traded with me. As always, if you have any suggestions, comments,
or questions, just send me an e-mail.
Also, Lone Star Comics is holding another official Upper
Deck 64-person tournament. The tournament will be January 25, 2003.
The entry fee is $10. First place prize will be $100 store credit;
second place will receive $25 store credit. If you want further
information, refer to the phone number at the beginning of
this e-mail.
Roger the Skunk,
