Deck: Throbbing Beat Stick
Name: Logan
The Stadium, Bay City, MI
June 28, 2003
Entry Fee: $5
There were about 25 duelists. The Stadium runs a type of double elimination, where you drop into the Second Chance bracket after your first loss. This was my first tournament and I thought the people at the shop and the duelists in the tournament were cool. There was a wide range of age among the duelists, from 7 years old to about 30.
My deck:
I run a pretty standard beat-down. I’ve got most of the cards I want in it for now and it should be completely tweaked within a couple of weeks. Feel free to email me if you know of ways to tune it up – I’m new to Yugioh and don’t have much experience. I have a Yata coming from an Ebay buy, plus an Injection Fairy Lily and a couple of Goblin Attack Forces to fill out my deck. I’m working on a Water Deck, but want to finish this one first.

Side Deck:
I took a side deck with a bunch of situational cards but I can’t remember all of them so I won’t bother listing it.
On to the Tournament Results:
I got paired up in the first round with Mark, who is the number 2 duelist at the Stadium. I lost my notes so I don’t know exactly how it went down, but I got a good opening draw and put a Harpies and a Raigeki late in the first duel, then finished off his life points with a juiced-up Bazoo and a GAF. In the second duel, it was a tougher battle, but I got good pulls and managed to Magic Cylinder his Summoned Skull, then Change of Hearted it and used it plus Gemini Elf to finish off his life points.
In the second round, I went up against and adult and was lucky to get great cards in both duels. I won in 4 turns the first duel by getting out GAF, Bazoo and Gemini and hitting him with Heavy Storm and Raigeki. The second duel was again tougher but I got out Injection Fairy Lily on about my 5th turn and finished him off with two consecutive big hits.
I was feeling pretty incredible, having beat two of the better duelists at the Stadium, but I got wiped out in the third round. I forgot the guy’s name, but he beat me in the first duel with good pulls, one after another and he had about 2,000 LP left when he finished me off with a huge barrage. I came back in the second duel and hit him hard early with a Gemini, a Summoned Skull and a juiced up Bazoo, then it went back and forth a few turns until I Fairly Lilly’ed him away. The third duel got called for time and I was behind in LP, so I lost. I was pretty bummed out but that’s the way it goes.
So I went to the Second Chance round and took the first duel pretty quickly, with GAF and Lilly mostly. The second duel went in 3 turns because he couldn’t get anything down to handle my barrage of Gemini, Jinzo and Bazoo plus the La Jinn I Change of Hearted from him, plus my Axe.
I forget the name of the guy that got first place, but the guy he beat in the finals went on to lose his first match in the Second Chance round. Since losing to me in the first round, Mark had gone on to win every match. Thus, he and I were paired up to duel for second place. He got off to a pretty good start in the first duel, but I fought back with a Harpies and a Dark Hole, then I Change of Hearted a tribute monster of his and hammered him hard with it and my Lily. The second duel went faster because I got an excellent opening hand and kept getting great pulls. On about the third turn, I nailed him with a Jinzo and Lily and finished him off the next turn.
I couldn’t believe I’d gotten second place in my first tournament! We all got a pack of PSV for entering and I got one pack of TP3 for second place. I was bummed that my brother got eliminated early, but he just got bad draws and that’s how the cards drop. He did have some good duels, like in the first round when he Yata-locked on the third turn after emptying the guys hand with a Delinquent, then sweeping his field with Harpies and Raigeki. That was cool. I still don’t completely understand the rules – the duelists and staff at the Stadium were really cool about helping me learn. We can’t wait to go back!
Uppers:
Getting second in my first tourney.

That’s about it.
