Hey all! I'm Johnny/Patriarch, and today, I had the oppurtunity to play in my first Yu-Gi-Oh tournament! While I spend far more time and money into Pokemon (and to a lesser extent, MtG), I do kinda have a soft spot for an occasional duel every now and then. So, with my somewhat "Rogue" Beatdown deck, I took on the competition in single elimination format. Here is my good (and not-so good) IOU N my last will:
Creatures (24)
3 Blue Eyes White Dragon
3 Summoned Skull
1 Cyber Jar
2 7 Colored Fish
3 La Jinn the Mystical Genie of the Lamp
3 Dark Zebra
3 Man-Eater Bug
3 Hane-Hane
3 Trap Master
Magic (19)
1 Raigeki
1 Dark Hole
1 Monster Reborn
1 Change of Heart
1 Messenger of Peace
1 Pot of Greed
1 Card Destruction
2 Tribute to the Doomed
2 Soul Exchange
2 Last Will
3 Malevolent Nuzzler
2 Fissure
Trap Cards (7)
1 Michizure
3 Trap Hole
3 Acid Trap Hole
Round 1: Vs Brogan
These 3 matches were very long and challenging. The first game was somewhat easy, as I quickly disposed of him the first round. However, in round two of our duel, we played a LOT longer, and he pulled the win. In the third and final match, it was very close. However, when Things got horrible for me in this match, I drew a Messenger of Peace, and stalled for quite some time. Although this took me down to a mere 2100, I later attacked him to bring 'im down to almost that level (2200). Unfortunately, he Relinquished my pumped-up La Jinn, and thanks to a face-down defense trap master, I managed to destroy his face-down Trap Hole! I later fissured his Relinquished, destroying both creatures, and tributed trap master to play Summoned Skull. I barely won the Duel (Duel record: 1-0; Match record: 2-1)
Round two: Vs Anthony
Very Easy games, as he did not know how to play. I remember helping him a couple times when it came to tributes and strategy, but that doesn't mean he'd get much mercy. I won both games without taking a single hit (2-0; 4-1)
Round three: Vs Clif
This is where I eventually got owned, and BADLY. He comes down to the Pokemon Battlezone every now and then, so I knew him already. Match one, I was doing quite well, until he got out those ****** WHITE MAGICAL HATS, discarding my raigeki. while I did manage to take the store's top player down to 2000 with a blue eyes, he easily fissured it, and monster reborned it later to win. Match two, I don't even wanna start talking about. Thanks to my OWN Cyber Jar, he manages to draw 2 tribute monsters and Jinzo. Needless to say, he killed me, and I was out of the tourny.
However, I had a fun time and traded for plenty of cards. After unloading my Black Illusion Rituals, I obtained all sorts of things, including a La Jinn and a Tribute to the Doomed I put in the deck right before my 1st duel started, An Invader of the throne, Suijin, and Harpie's Brother 3 sets, not to mention my NICE heavy Storm :D
After my tournament, I quickly headed down to KB toys for a good $1.25 deal on booster packs! Of course, this was for
Pokemon ^_^
