Tournament Introduction:
Comic Odyssey has some of the best duelists many playing with Morphing Jar,
Needle Worm, and even running a few Mechanical
Chasers. That's more then a 300 dollar valued deck just by playing
those cards. I've personally been there maybe 10-11 times attending
only 5-8 tournaments there because they are really hard to win.
Deck Introduction:
Last time I was there I played with a Burner Beatdown using Amazon Archers and
Scape Goats which really didn't get me anywhere
so I decided since most players were playing with a defensive deck I should go
with one too. Luckily I was able to get my hands on
2 Sinister Serpents and 2 Harpie's Feather Duster without spending much
money before the tournament. I had planned on buying
a one more Graceful Charity so I could put my Sinisters to good use however they
were selling it for $4 so I had no choice good by
Bazoo ( it was the only card they would take for store credit that I had available
on me ). As for the rest of my deck I had a hard time
fitting the rest of the magic/trap cards in it, I still wanted to play with
2 Nobleman of Crossout, 2 Tribute to the Doomed, and Torrential Tribute.
The Tournament:
Unfortunately I don't play there enough to know the players names so I won't
name them at all just so I don't end up embarrassing myself
by giving wrong names.
Game 1: Sinister vs. Player [ Mixed Deck, Just a bunch of rare cards
and a few staples ]
Round 1/
I started off beating his life points easily he wasn't able to bring out any
monsters so I gained an easy monster advantage and wiped his life
points. Then another small kid like himself was looking at my cards
and starting telling him what I had so people around that were watching
told him to stop I won.
Round 2/
Started with Giant Germs wasn't able to draw anything strong he ended up
noblemaning my witch and I snatched steal his witch and attacked
he then was able to change of heart my Kycoo and sacrifice his 4 started monster
and my 4 stared monster to get out The Masked Beast. Now
on all ritual card it says "you can tribute a monster 8 stars or more
from the field or your hand" I thought that meant you can tribute One
Monster
therefore the a monster but another guy told me you can so I let it go
since he ended up attacking my mirror force. After that I had his witch, my
sangan, 2 germs, and a white magical hat out and he had his 2000 defensive
monster so he stalled and leeched off my snatch steal but I ended up
sacrificing for Jinzo and winning.
Game 2: Sinister vs. Player [ Beatdown Offensive ]
Round 1/
I played scapegoat and ended up messing myself over since I had one monster on
the field and 4 goat tokens and had snatch steal and change of
heart in my hand. Finally I got skull lair and killed his monster then
I removed 1 card for 1 of my tokens snatch steal sacrificed for Jinzo and
played United we Stand. I won.
Round 2/
This game just got alot harder as he was beating me with his Gemini's and
Bazoo's finally he got his Jinzo out and wham hit me for a heavy hitter
that game lasted for awhile and by this time both of us were already nervous. I
lost.
Round 3/
This was it, either I win it or loose it all here I snatch'd his Jinzo and he
penguin soldiered it back to his hand leaving my snatch steal for him to leech
this was a problem because if you look at my deck I don't play with Heavy
Storms or Mystical Space Typhoon. We went back and forth most of the
time using Swords and the score was me 4200 and him 10500 it looked pretty
hopeless when finally I got Raigeki and hit him for a clean 2000 with my
Giant Germ and White Magical Hat. The score was now 2300 to 8500 he then
got me for a heavy hitter with change of hart leaving me at 1100 Imperial
Order had drained most of my life points. He had a witch of the black
forest out and at 8500 life I had bazoo, witch of the black forest and he had
his
witch in defense mode and another card face down. I drew Raigeki YES
finally the card I needed in a diversion to see if he had a Jammer down I
activated monster reborn to get my Jinzo back then summoning mad sword beast I
raigeki'd and won the game.
Game 3: Sinister vs. Player [ Defensive Deck Squirrel Deck with Light
of Intervention and Skull Lair combo ]
Round 1/
An easy round as he got only 2 monsters out I easily got the monster advantage
and won within the 8th to 9th turn easy win for me yet shouldn't
have been so over confident.
Round 2/
After getting a good shuffle out he was ready to get me he played light of
intervention claiming that my already face down monsters flipped face up
unfortunately the guy next to him Henry agreed with him and since Henry has
pretty much been winning or at least getting 2nd or 3rd place since he
played there i figured he would know best (disregarding wartortle's rule) I
revealed my monsters this would unfortunately cost me the game as he
had skull lair out and wiped out my monsters he won.
Round 3/
Great now the pressure was on the game was going pretty good for me until I had
my man eaters down and he played light of intervention again
my monsters flipped face up and he was able to skull lair my monsters.. Very
Depressing.. then he snatched my Jinzo and hit me for all I got once
again I lost.
Final Thoughts:
I felt I did better then the last tournament but like I said again this place
had to many good duelists its to bad I didn't win I requested a tp3 pack
and will go and pick it up next week but until then I guess now I need to find
me another bazoo 2 or 3 more gemini's and a morphing jar hopefully
they don't restrict my graceful charity and harpie's feather duster any time
soon :( until then... - Sinister :)~
