Well, as it was around 3 months since I did my last report, I figured I would do one again. My tournament attendance is on and off these past few weeks because I was unable to get a ride to the tourney, so my deck was a bit lacking, but not so much…

Well, before the tournament started, I bought a second Drop Off and a third D. D. Warrior Lady. I found that I was paired up against a good duelist, Jesse Leax.
Match 1 – Me v. Jesse Leax (pure Hand Disruption)
Duel 1
It was hard. And long. We hit each other back and forth with our various monsters for the first part of the duel, but with his annoying Tomatoes always bringing him what he needed, I was forced into a defensive position. He was breaking my defensive maneuvers with his Scientist, and I managed to pull a Scapegoat whenever there was Jinzo and several other monsters attacking me. The climax of the duel was when he was shut down by my MST over his Mirage, but as fate would have it, I lost anyways, to a Yata-lock.
End result: Jesse 4000, Me 0.
I sidedecked a D. D. Warrior Lady at this point for my Magical Scientist, which turned out to help immensely.
Duel 2
Well, this one passed by much quicker due to my inability to draw monsters. I believe 9 cards in a row, I drew Spells and Traps, and with his damned Imperial Order on field, I couldn’t do squat. When I finally did draw my measly DDWL, I attacked him. At this point he stops paying to activate Raigeki. After that, he hit me with a low life monster, probably Spirit Reaper. On my turn, I hit him with everything I had, reviving a monster and attacking him to get him down to a mere 2700. Alas, this move cost me the duel. He played Magical Scientist, sucked up one of my monsters with TER, attacked, destroying both, then left me handless with his Spirit Reaper. And I topdeck an MST…how useful. He just battered me with Tomatoes after that…
End result: Jesse 2700, Me 0
Winner: Jesse
Ah, as I lost during the first round, there was a consolation round for me. One kid just left after he lost, so I advanced into the next round. I was paired up with an old rival, Mike Maloney. I last remembered our score to be 3-3 matches. This was the deciding one.
Round 3 – Me v. Mike Maloney (VERY good beatdown – not a cookie cutter)
Duel 1
I hate to say it, but I just plain sucked this duel. I don’t remember having exceptionally bad draws, but more like making exceptionally bad moves. But, as my deck was a Disruption and his a Beatdown, I was able to make a dent in his Life Points before he took the offensive. I don’t remember many moves, just that I got him down to around 4500. Lucky for me, I DO remember the next duel.
End result: Mike 4500? Me 0
Duel 2
All right, this started out with minor hand advantage for me, as I used Graceful first turn and dropped a Serpent, but I forgot about it in my GY for quite some time. I attacked him once with Luster and let him go, upon which he stole it via Snatch Steal, and attacked me. There is one thing that is fundamentally wrong with his deck: He uses Dust Tornado instead of MST. He tried explaining it to me halfway through the duel, but I told him it would always be worse because of the inability to play it the turn you draw it. I was able to stall with Swords of Revealing Light, and when he set the last bit of his hand on the 3rd turn of SoRL, I knew it was Yata time. I pulled a Harpie’s Feather Duster, which I used. He played Imperial Order, and I played MST from hand. I told him that I would NOT have been able to pull that off if it was a Dust Tornado instead of MST… I took my Luster back, played Raigeki on his Spirit Reaper (I still don’t know why he has those in his deck…), summoned Yata, and locked him with 7300 LP left (a couple turns with Snatch gave me back 5000 LP from his three attacks with Luster). He conceded…
End result: Me 7300 Mike 0
Duel 3
Ooh, I had this one in the bag. From the start, I had field and hand advantage. Seemingly, Mike could not draw anything useful, as we were late in the game, and my Scientist + Jinzo were on field, unharmed. I was being very risky this game; I kept my Scientist in attack mode with 1700 LP left, hoping he did not draw a Goblin Attack Force (he does not run Zombyra). He was stalling with a Spirit Reaper on field and with 600 LP left. Oh why oh why don’t I use Spear Dragon? Well, anyways, I was trying to lure him to attack Scientist with a weak monster, and it worked. He summoned Reflect Bounder and attacked Scientist, inflicting 1400 damage, and telling me, “There is no way you can win.” Ah, touché, you are right! I took the easy way out, assaulted his Reflect Bounder, killing us both, and saying, “Good game.” I won, due to overall LP (second duel 7300…). Hehehehe, I pulled a McHale on Maloney… He said that it wasn’t an honorable win, so it didn’t count against our record, and I concur.
End result: Me 0, Mike 0
Winner: Me
Well, after playing two REALLY hard opponents, I was rewarded with two REALLY easy opponents. I don’t even want to get into details; all four duels were really easy and lasted about 4-6 turns. Just know I won all being virtually untouched. This is not meant to be exalting, but just that I don’t want to bore you.
Stuff that happened after and between duels: I got some really good trades in, like my Goblin Attack Force for a 1/e Luster #2 and my 1/e Kaiser Glider for Creature Swap and Drop Off… I played Leax in a second match and I got really angry because I mutilated him. I ended the first duel with 4000+ LP left and the second with 7000 LP left. Why couldn’t I have done that in the tournament? Anyways, I went to collect my prize, $5 store credit, which I quickly spent getting a 1/e DCR pack and a Mountain Dew.
Whew, that was fun, and a really profitable day since I finished my XYZ, Scientist, Scientist/Dark Flare decks in one day and I completed my secret rare set (LOB – DCR SCRs). Time for props and slops!
