Alright, I didn't have to work this Saterday, so I
was able to enter the tournament! I came to the tournament about an hour and a
half before the actual starting time. I find my friend from school Zack and we
do some pactice duels to prepare for the tournament. We were also testing the
[Magical Scientist] card we both put in our decks that day. I had gotten some
easy Fusion Monsters for it, and we were ready to rock. Zack is not in my
league, but he is very good, nonetheless. After I had a few duels with him, I
was pretty much ready for the tournament.
Mike (the judge, and a really kool one at that)
started the tournament by announcing that instead of bracket-style, the
tournament would follow a swiss-style. Wow, so much confusion for something
rather simple... I think I was the only one, besides Mike, in the room who knew
what swiss-style tournaments were. As Mike was pairing people up, I rechecked my

============================================
Match 1: Yohan VS Candice
Omg... this pairing should have NEVER happened.
Candice was a complete newb who had just bought a tin and the Sacred Cards game
and threw all the cards together... however, there were only two rare cards
in his deck... Also, him being much younger than me (I'm only 16, he
was probably 10), I let him go first. BAM! Perfectly Great Ultimate
Moth stares me in the face from the start. I ignore the fact that he wasn't
allowed to summon the monster, and go about my turn. Dark Hole, and it all goes
down from there. I tried to play a 'teaching game' like I do with people when
playing Go (an old Chinese game, check the Hikaru no Go manga for details), but
it was very difficult. Well, he learned better, and decided to just play a
complete teaching game for the second duel.
Match 2: Yohan VS Exodia/Final Deck
Heh heh heh, I love decks like this... not only is
it really hard to focus around one combo or the other, but any exodia is at the
mercy of mine. Not to mention this kid was playing with an unsleeved 150+ card
deck... I didn't even have a struggle with this guy, easy win.
Match 3: Yohan VS ????
Hmm... I don't remember this guy's name, but I know
him from seeing him a lot at previous tournies. I *thought* he was good, so I
went all out on him... he struggled a bit, but it was no real challenge
again...
Match 4: Yohan VS ???? 2
LOL, I'm really bad with names.. but this guy was
no amatuer, a very good duelist with a very good deck. I was able to get an
early advantage with a Delinquent Duo and Spirit Reaper to defend. As it came
down to both of us not having any mosters of cards in hand, he sets a monster,
and I know its a Fiber Jar... I didn't want him to get any kind of advantage,
but what choice did I have? Draw... hmm... Magical Scientist? I know!
Thousand-Eyes Restrict... but looking at my other fusions, i noticed that Dark
Baltar the Terrible was a much better card to bring out. I hit his Fiber, and
attacked with MS, he draws... nothing, I draw, Yata, game. Second game was
really fast...
One thing I might add... good thing that I am
an honest person, or else i would have had 6800 LP instead of 2700 LP like i had
on my calculator... This guy didn't punch in everything in his calculator and
still had me with a lot of LP, but using MS and Imperial DOES take your LP away,
if you didn't know, lol
Match 5: Yohan VS Dark Paladin
Deck
Ah, Mike just wanted to be a jerk and gave me
an extra opponent... he was pretty strong, but playing a Dark Paladin Deck, with
beatdown monsters. He threw out a lot of 1900 monsters at me, and I had to
defend for a while... I wanted to bring out my MS, but it was no point. Then the
idiot plays Jinzo. BWAHAHAHA, time for some fun. I attack all his monsters
and deal some overflow damage. This duel was really close, something like 900-0.
Second duel was easy... he drew Dark Magician... Dark Magician... Buster
Bladder... Bister Bladder.. by that time the duel was over... hahahaha, so close
too. I kinda feel sorry for him.
Match 6: Yohan VS Sunny (Dark Magician
Deck)
Hmm... a very interesting Dark Magician deck
that relies a lot on the SURPRIZINGLY annoying Apprentice Magician. I dueled
Sunny earlier adbout 11 times, he beat me 4 and I 7, but we really didn't keep
track of score, so its unofficial. Sunny didn't scare me at all, having a dopey
personality, but his annoying deck did. Every time i killed a monster, another
would take its place... Mystic Tomato, Apprentice Magician... argh, they are so
annoying. I tried to suck up the Tomato and prevent him from getting monsters,
but it didn't matter, DMG, United We Stand, ouch, hit me hard, I
lost.
Second and third were easy, I kept him at bay
but destroying his monsters in his hand, have field control, and keeping
Imperial Order out... hahahaha, and he kept on using Magic
Cards.
Match 7: Yohan VS Ricky
A truely strong opponent. However, he had one
weakness that I'd like to point out to everyone... INJECTION FAIRY LILY ISN'T
GOOD ANYMORE!!! The effect should say something like, both players take 2000 LP
and you get to keep your monster on the field, the other dies.... Basically Lily
is a 1400 ATK monster with an ability similar to spirit reaper. I hit Lily with
DD Warrior Lady, MS, and other weak mosters... hey, i'll let you bring both of
us closer to defeat, makes my life easier. :)
yea yea... kind of boring today, I didn't
have much fun. for placing in 1st I only got $10 store credit... can you say RIP
OFF?! Well, it's nothing against Mike, its all against the store owners... who
are complete [insert obscene word here]s...
Maybe I'll be able to go to regionals in
Pheonix in two weeks and have more fun...
That's it for now.
