It’s been a LONG time since I have registered a tournament report, but I think I’m finally overdue for another one.
I know there are many people in the world that use decks that they don’t really play because they think their deck is “too good,” but fear not; all you see, I have.

Today was a no age group day. Yay!
Round I – SiphonX v. Generic Beatdown
Duel 1: Nothing much happened until I managed to rip apart his hand with the Bird. He made the dire mistake of bombing my faceup Scientist with Exiled Force rather than attacking it, and I believe that is what allowed me to Yata-lock him so quickly. That and he searched out Don Zaloog with Reinforcements, and didn’t attack me with it. He made me play out the lock until I summoned Chaos Dragon.
End result: Me – 8000-7000-5400
Him – 8000-7800-7100-6700-LOCK
Duel 2: I started off okay, but due to his lack of knowledge, he started off worse. He managed to get a few quick hits on me via Spear, but I beat him back with Chaos Dragon. What an easy, easy victory…
End result: Me – 8000-6700-5700-?
Him – 8000-6900-5300-2400-0
Winner: Me
Round II – SiphonX v. Water Beatdown
Duel 1: This guy’s deck was solidly built. I managed to appreciate that when I saw the first Gravity Bind. However, bad draws for him and extraordinarily great field control for me allowed me to hit him with a nice Chaos Dragon + Yata when I got rid of the Bind. His Sinister Serpent in attack mode couldn’t match up to my Reflect Bounder, and later, I used recursion to bring back the Dragon and blow him up a second time. That finished him off quickly.
End result: Me – 8000-7600-6600-5900
Him – 8000-7300-5600-3800-2400-0
Duel 2: He simply couldn’t draw any Oceans, and his plans were foiled. I managed to pull off some quick, successive hits to bring me an easy kill. Had he been able to draw his signature combo, ALO + Bugroth + Gravity Bind, I would have been destroyed. Whew, that was close.
End result: Me – 8000-7500-6500-5500
Him – 8000- 6900-5400-3200-1900-0
Winner: Me
Round III – SiphonX v. Chaos Beatdown
Duel 1: I suppose I would have had to encounter a good deck some time or another, and this was it. It had all the key elements a good Chaos deck needed, but it lacked the essential speed that my deck provided me. Basically, this match was nothing like the previous two. It was basically anybody’s game. He hit me for 1000 or so, and I retaliated swiftly. Both of us conserved our hands as we battled down to the hundreds. I managed to pull a final assault that destroyed him via Soldier.
End result: Me – 8000-7300-5200-3500-2300-1300
Him – 8000-6300-5300-2400-0
Duel 2: This duel was his from the beginning. He launched the game into turmoil with a quick Delinquent Duo, and as I tried to keep my hand stable, he attacked with everything he had. I had come out of tougher spots than this before, but I didn’t think there was anything I could do about his massive onslaught. Several times, he could’ve gotten me into a Yata-lock, but he didn’t have the guts to summon her. At the very end, I managed to bring out Dragon and Soldier sequentially. And I remember at one point if I would have had 200 more life points, I could’ve killed him. In the end, he won with a lady over my defense Soldier and a Tribe in the rear. Bah…
End result: Me – 8000-6200-4700-3700-2400-1300-900-0
Him – 8000-7000-6500-4800-3200-1400-400
Duel 3: It all boiled down to this last duel, and unfortunately, my brave opponent couldn’t hold any ground. I simply destroyed him. I ran through his defenses, on a breakaway until he managed to retaliate, this time, with a Reflect Bounder. I drew my Dragon, summoned it, said “To hell with it,” and attacked with it and another monster for the game. Mwahahahahahaha…
End result: Me: 8000-7000-6500-3500
Him: 8000-6200-4800-3200-2900-2300-0
Winner: Me
Round IV – SiphonX v. Beast Beatdown
Duel 1: I don’t mean to be cocky, but I’ve no idea how my opponent came this far. He usually loses in the first or second round. Well, easy victory for me! And I was proven right. Oh poo, I like surprises… The game went under way with massive hand and field advantage on my side, as his Nimbles, Dog, and Gorillas couldn’t stand a chance. He wasted a Painful and two Oxes to summon two Manticores. I suppose I shall just have to get rid of them. Dark Hole. Heavy Storm. Reaper assault. Well, now his hand is nearly gone, and mine is full. A few turns later, I pulled off a nice lock.
End result: Me – 8000-7000-5300
Him – 8000-7700-6300-LOCK
Duel 2: This game was painstakingly non-challenging. I ran into two of his Nimbles just to get rid of them, and after that, he lost all LP advantage he once had. I summoned Soldier, removed a few monsters, and simply owned. The game finished up with me losing no Life Points. A flawless victory.
End result: Me – 8000
Him – 8000-6400-7400-8400-7500-3400-2500-1300-0
Winner: Me
Round V (Finals) – SiphonX v. Advanced Beatdown
Duel 1: Despite his small stature, this duelist’s deck can pack a mean punch. Have you ever felt the wrath of Spears? They can be very annoying, especially when you run low defenders. The first duel consisted of me achieving Nirvana, a.k.a. full hand advantage, full field advantage. Details are a bit hazy, but I remember Spears got annoying after a while. Locked him in a few turns.
End result: Me – 8000-7500-6300-5100
Him – 8000-7700-7500-7100-LOCK
Duel 2: He allowed me to draw nothing, and what was worse, he managed to find a way to bring back his Spear and assault for massive amounts of damage. Me no like this at all. However, I did get a good hit on him with Bounder, or whatever.
End result: Me – 8000-6100-4800-2400-0
Him – 8000-6900-5300-3100
Duel 3: Final duel of the finals! This duel progressed ultra-fast. First, he pays 1000 for something, sets some stuff, and I run in after getting rid of it with a DDWL and attack his LP. He states that I am done, and changes DDWL, sacks for Jinzo, Prematures DDWL and attacks for 3900. He managed to use Forceful Sentry to send back my Snatch Steal. My hand, at the time was Change of Heart, Monster Reborn, Snatch Steal, and Raigeki. I draw…Breaker, game. Summon it, break premature, CoH Jinzo, reborn DDWL, and attack for 5500… He congratulates me, and I inform him I put the record in my favor (2-1).
End result: Me – 8000-7000-3100
Him – 8000-7000-5500-4900-0
