This will be my second tournament. I’ve made some changes to my deck to provide more protection for my weaker monsters, and add some speed for XYZ. I received an invite to a tournament located in the same vicinity as the last tournament held 1 hour earlier than my previous tournament, so I decided it would be a good idea to check it out. This tourney was slightly smaller than the last one, but it looked like the competition would be better (less small children). This tournament was Swiss format post-ban (sorry, for the mistake on last week’s submission which was single elimination). Anyway, let’s get on to the tourney.
Round 1: Bye
Great, I get a freebie hope my good fortune lasts …….
Round 2: Me vs. Burn/Life Gain Deck
Ok, time to duel this guy ran a burn deck using cards like level limit area b to stall and burning with solar flame dragon and others (sorry, those are the only cards I remember). The first round of this duel I took some damage from his burn combos and was kept from attacking because of the Area B’s eventually I managed to get BLS, XY Dragon Cannon and some other monsters on to the field. I was able to keep his Level B’s gone using XY’s effect and soon ended the round from there.
Victory 1-0
Me: 8000 > 6000 > 5000 > 4600
Him: 8000 >8200 > 7200 > 7800 > 6300 > 6700 > 0
The next round was pretty one-sided he burned me before I could retaliate.
Loss 1-1
Me: 8000 > 7600 > 7100 > 6100 > 5100 > 4100 > 3100 > 2100 > 1100 > 100 > 0
Him: 8000 > 10000
Last round again he began with level limit area B’s and I could not get to him, he began burning my life points and I defended as best I could. Running out of time I attempted to thin my deck using Painful choice so that I could get to Heavy Storm and Mystical Space Typhoon faster (should’ve waited) after playing Painful when looking through my deck Heavy Storm, and MST would have been the next two cards I would have drawn, ooh well. Continuing my best bet would be to get XY on the field after a lot of turns and some slight burning I finally got MST and Heavy and was able to get rid of his Level B and getting at some of his life points. On his next turn he activates, of course, another level B. On my turn I am able to summon XY and rid myself of Level B again, but XY is placed in defense mode. My remaining monsters killed off his monsters and chip his life points a bit, but I still need one more turn to end it and then time is called, crap!
Loss 1-2
Me: 8000 > 7000 > 6500 > 6000 >5500 > 3500 > 1500
Him: 8000 > 8200 > 9200 > 9400 > 10800 > 11400 > 8200
Record 1-2
Round 3: Me vs. Chaos/Monarch Deck
Don’t remember too much about this duel except that I made a lot of stupid mistakes which caused me to lose both rounds. I also remember seeing his BLS more times than I would like to.
Loss 0-1
Me: 8000 > 2550 > 0
Him: 8000 > 6000 > 4500 > 4400 > 3400
Loss 0-2
Me: 8000 > 6300 > 5300 > 4300 > 2700 > 1700 > 1700 > 600 > 0
Him: 8000 > 6300 > 4900
Record 1-4
Round 4: Me vs. Machine Deck
Ok, on to round 4. This round I played against a machine deck, this guy I think was one of the best duelists in this tourney and he beat me down pretty bad, and pretty quick I think our entire match lasted about 7 minutes. All I remember is cannon soldiers, fusilier dragons and limiter removals, ouch.
Loss 0-1
Me: 8000 >6500 > 5800 > 5100 > 0
Him: 8000 > 6500 > 5000
Loss: 0-2
Me: 8000 > 0
Him: 8000 > 6800
Record 1-6
Well that is the end of my 2nd tourney, time to go back to the garage and tweak my deck for next week. On a more positive note I managed to score a Fusilier Dragon which will come in handy. Thanks to Keith Seay, Aidan Vella, and RBBARRIX.
