Howdy, my name is Kyle and today was one of my better weeks in Yu-Gi-Oh. This, of course, is my first report so here goes =].
Well I used to play back at the very start but after 2 years I lost interest. Just recently (2 months ago maybe?) I restarted from scratch with an Exodia deck that my friend had lent me. Didn’t fair too well in tournaments with it but I didn’t do too badly. I then switched over to a mainly Spellcaster Deck with my main card being Dark Magician of Chaos. Basically he won all my games for me which didn’t surprise me much. With that deck I didn’t rank any higher than 4th so I felt it was time for a change (especially after losing to what I considered a newb of the game in Top Eight). Anywho, I finally revamped my deck into what it is now and it turned out great in my opinion.

First Round:
Me (0-0) vs. Matt Cameron (0-0)
Well this guy is basically the best there is currently at the store. He’s won more tournaments than anyone since the Yu-Gi-Oh Tournaments started a few years back. First game Was fairly close, I got him down to about 3000 Life Points but he pulled out the win. Second game I Side Decked 10 Cards but it hurt me in the end because he killed me 5th turn with Jinzo and Black Luster Soldier.
Second Round:
Me (0-1) vs. Daniel (0-1)
Faired a lot better this round. First game I got both of my Chaos Sorcerers out and basically destroyed everything that came in sight. Second game wasn’t much different, except for the fact that I had two Marauding Captains out at once with assistance from Exiled Force. Basically I Summoned Exiled Force via my Captain’s effect and tributed him for the kill. Next turn I drew Warrior Returning Alive and brought back Exiled Force, summoning him with my second Marauding Captain. I used Exiled Force two more times thanks to Call of the Haunted and Monster Reborn.
Third Round:
Me (1-1) vs. Eric (1-1)
This was a very close duel, but I won the first match thanks to Imperial Order. He kept drawing Spell Cards which were basically useless for him. I paid until I was down to about 2000 Life Points but I only stopped because I knew I was going to win on that particular turn. Second game he crushed me with his Sasuki Samurai #4. Third game was close as well but I pulled out the victory thanks to Marauding Captain yet again. The two of them beat him down until he was dead =].
Fourth (and Final) Round:
Me (2-1) vs. Derek (2-1)
This match was to decide who made Top 4, me or him. He was running a Earth/Pump Up deck which surprised me greatly. First game I won though by beating him down with Jinzo. Second game I got too cocky and didn’t carefully plan my moves. He got five monsters on the field and basically CRUSHED me, I barely put up a defence. Third and final duel was even closer. For awhile I had my Captains out so he couldn’t really attack me. He then pulled out Dark Hole and started beating me down. Near the end of the duel I had one monster on (Spirit Reaper) and he has three (all level 4 monsters). I had no cards in hand so I Top-Decked a Jinzo and played it. I killed the weakest monster on his field and it ended up killing him.
Top Four:
Me (3-1) vs. Billy (4-0)
This surprising went rather well for me. I didn’t expect to man handle him as much as I did but I pulled out a 2-straight win. He was playing a Blue-Eyes deck that seemed to be crushing his opponents left and right. Both games I won with Jinzo.
Finals:
Me. (4-1) vs. Matt Cameron (4-1)
One of the best duels I’ve had in the longest time, let’s put it that way. First game was close, we were both down to 500 when I pulled out a Raigeki and played my Cyber Jar Face-Up. Luckily he had nothing to stop its attack so I won Game One. Second game went strictly in his favour. He got me into a Yata-lock 4th turn so I conceded that game. Game Three was close at the start then I pulled a crazy move. We were both at 7000 and I had played a Cyber Jar last turn. He placed a monster face-down so I drew and immediately flipped Cyber Jar. I got one monster on and so did he. With the Cyber Jar I got a Graceful Charity and Pot of Greed. I used the PoG than the GC and after discarding I had 10 cards in my hand. I Snatch Steal’d his one monster (Breaker the Magical Warrior(1600)) then Summoned a Chaos Sorcerer(2300), Marauding Captain(1200) and Spirit Reaper(300) via MC’s effect. The monster I got with Cyber Jar was Mirage Dragon(1600). This all totalled up to exactly 7000 damage so I attacked and won. Even the judge was surprised at this move.
So I won the tournament and won free entry into tomorrows tourny and $11.
Pros:
-> I won my first tournament since coming back
-> My deck worked nicely (except for first round)
-> I beat Matt ^_^
Cons:
-> NONE!!
Well this was my report. I’ll write more in the future and hopefully I’ll be winning more tournaments!
