Hello Pojo Fans,
Yubel – The Loving Defender Forever ends our look at Yubel this week and the first Fusion of Yubel but not the last.
Needing one or more Effect monsters to be used alongside Yubel immediately causes you to think Super Poly to wipe your opponent’s field of monsters and leave you with a new form of Yubel. 500LP damage per monster used for the Fusion Summon of Yubel TLD has potential to be a good bit of burn damage if done correctly. Inherits the cannot be destroyed by battle ability, but also has card effect protection against destruction, making them immune to spot destruction or board-wipe cards. Great protection for a monster that has 0/0 stats.
The one “once per turn” ability Yubel TLD carries is the inflicting damage to the opponent style effect Yubel tends to carry. It is only a once per turn because now, you can attack with this Yubel and not only do damage equal to their ATK, but also banish them afterwards. Yes, spot removal has come to Yubel, and when combined with Nightmare Pain you once again force your opponent to attack a Yubel with no good outcome. The once per turn had to be added for this reason. If you summoned this version of Yubel to the field with Nightmare Pain to a field of monsters on your opponent’s turn, your opponent would have to attack and, not only likely OTK themselves, but if they didn’t, lose each monster via banishing. Once per turn still works on the opponent’s turn, and while they can attack Yubel TLD and not receive damage after the first attack, they still cannot beat them with destruction effects or through battle.
Super Poly with a Yubel to make this monster is the play. There is no cost to keep Yubel TLD on the field, they have destruction protection, battle protection, and now are equipped with spot removal during either turn through battle AND you have Nightmare Pain to force an attack during the opponent’s turn. While there are plenty of effects that avoid destruction that can get rid of Yubel, the archetype needed (among other things) this kind of a monster in the form of new support and now they have it.

With Yubel using Super Polymerization in the anime and there being no sign of Super Fusion God any time soon, the Yubel theme had to get a Fusion of some sort, so now we have Yubel – The Loving Defender Forever.
Loving Defender is a Level 12 DARK Fiend with 0 ATK and DEF. The stats work with its effects, plus we keep DARK/Fiend. The Fusion Materials are any Yubel monster and any 1+ Effect Monster(s) on the field, basically screaming for you to use Super Polymerization to break the opponent’s board. Upon being Fusion Summoned, you can deal 500 damage to the opponent for each of this card’s Fusion Materials, which can get some decent damage in before you start attacking with the Yubels, but it is helpful if the opponent is summoning weak monsters. That’s the only HOPT on the card, since it can’t really apply to the rest of the effects. It cannot be destroyed by battle or card effects, also of course no battle damage for you from battles involving this card. I do like we added protection from card effects now. Finally, at the end of the Damage Step where this battled an opponent’s monster, you can deal damage equal to that monster’s ATK and then banish it. Classic Yubel stuff, but I do like how we added some removal to this as well. Loving Defender is overall a great Fusion for this theme to summon off of Super Polymerization, or Eternal Favorite of course. This level of board breaking with a card the opponent can’t respond to like Super Polymerization is fairly powerful, and does make Yubel a rogue contender along with the rest of the support. I can’t wait for Infernal Grave Squirmer, Nightmare Throne, and Phantom of Yubel to really push the Deck further.

Yubela appears in its strongest form yet as Yubel – The Loving Defender Forever (henceforth referred to as “Fusion Yubel”, not to be confused with an upcoming new monster we won’t get for a while), a level 10 DARK Fiend Fusion monster. Fusion Yubel requires any Yubel monster and any number of Effect monsters, making it a no-brainer choice for Super Polymerization in Yubel decks. Making it is a simple matter with Eternal Favorite; in fact, it’ll be your main disruption in pure builds until we get Yubel’s new Fusion monster. Unsurprisingly, to match the damage reflecting playstyle, Fusion Yubel has 0 for both stats, which means a lot of (phantom) pain.
Upon being Fusion Summoned, Yubel’s first effect triggers, a hard once per turn effect to burn your opponent for 500 damage for each Fusion material you used. It’s not a huge amount, but it is a nice bonus to help OTK; ideally you’d mostly use your opponent’s monsters, but burning for 1000 at minimum isn’t so bad. Granted, with Nightmare Pain, attacking Geistgrinder Golem three times will confirm the OTK against 8000 Life Points anyway. Fusion Yubel shares the trademark effects of the rest of the Yubel family, albeit with significant upgrades; in addition to being invincible by battle (preventing battle damage in the process), it’s immune to destruction by card effects as well, which is nice protection in the current format and it protects Fusion Yubel from being destroyed by your own Terror Incarnate. Fusion Yubel also shares the trademark Yubel damage reflection when battling any time, but instead of destroying like Ultimate Nightmare, Fusion Yubel banishes instead, which can overcome towers-lite monsters like Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon and Borrelend Dragon. Fusion Yubel’s only sore spot is that it doesn’t really disrupt on its own after being summoned, but being a target for Eternal Fusion and Super Polymerization more than makes up for it. Overall, an extremely solid boss monster for Yubel that furthers their wincon, and Yubel will only get better once we get the deck’s newest Fusion monster.
+Essentially a walking Super Polymerization as a disruption through Eternal Favorite
+Better and easier to summon than Ultimate Nightmare
-Weak to negation, notably Infinite Impermanence
-Has no true disruption outside of Eternal Favorite

Art: 4.25/5 Yubel’s face is a bit derp here but I love the idea of an intermediate form between Yubel and Ultimate Nightmare (that isn’t Terror Incarnate)
