Yuma, Proud Protector feels like a very interesting angle for a Commander card: a “lands matter” creature who wants to dump lands into the graveyard and is able to do so, reminding me a bit of The Gitrog Monster in different colors. Turning lands into card draw is a pretty interesting angle, and Yuma’s ability also pairs well with things like dredge and other direct-dump spells. There’s a pretty spectacular engine that you can make with a bit of support, with cards like Crucible of Worlds, and there’s a lot you can do with this. Unfortunately, the mana cost is high and the efficacy is maybe a bit on the slow side to shine in Legacy, but you can definitely turn a desert or two into an oasis.

Outlaws of Thunder Junction has some great characters, including some who wouldn’t have seemed out of place in a Saturday morning cartoon from the 1980s. This guy seems to have drawn on BraveStarr, which was before my time but has a big reputation in TV Land. On top of that, you get a pseudo-kindred effect for Deserts to add to the list, as well as a much more straightforward option to ramp out a 6/6. Note that Hour of Devastation brought Deserts with cycling, which help you with both sides of the plan. I think Yuma doesn’t read as very spectacular, but is solid enough to see play in casual formats.
