Magic: The Gathering featured in
Seattle EMP Museum art exhibit

Magic: The Gathering has been selected to be featured in a new fantasy exhibit debuting at Seattle’s EMP Museum this weekend. The Fantasy: Worlds of Myth and Magic exhibit will display several key pieces from Magic’s archive of incredible world-building imagery alongside artifacts from other pop-culture and fantasy phenomenons including Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Game of Thrones and more. The exhibit kicks off with an opening celebration tomorrow, Friday, April 26.

During the exhibit fans will get a first-hand look at some of Magic’s unique elements and rich illustrations, including original alpha and beta cards and key art from Magic’s top fantasy artists and designers. In addition, visitors who attend the opening night celebration on April 26th will have the opportunity to meet some of Magic R&D’s most creative minds, including Senior Designer Mark Rosewater and Senior Director of Magic R&D Aaron Forsythe.

About the EMP’s Fantasy: Worlds of Myth and Magic Exhibit:

Organized by EMP Museum, Fantasy: Worlds of Myth and Magic is the first exhibition of its kind to examine the proliferation of the fantasy genre in literature, film, television, and video games.  From classic folklore to epic tales of good and evil, the exhibition content spans more than four centuries and includes an authentic 16th century suit of armor, rare costumes from the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz, and original hand-edited manuscript pages from J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings.  Contemporary works are also featured with artifacts from Xena: Warrior Princess, Game of Thrones, and the Harry Potter series.
