Monsters:

This is obviously what makes a Wind deck unique, the monster selection. Although there aren't many good wind monsters, there are definitely some strong ones. I don't know why, but I just can't stay away from Lv monsters. Again I decided to use Armed Dragon but this time instead of using Masked Dragon to summon it, he is best summoned by using Flying Kamikari #1. See my last deck for a more in depth review of the usefulness of Armed Dragon with other high level monsters in the deck. Using this same method, you can summon the Ultimate Insect, so depending on what your opponent has on the field you will want to summon one of the two monsters when you draw Flying Kamikari #1. I decided to not use the Ultimate Insect lv 7 because with his effect active your Ultimate Insect lv 5 will be able to kill most anything often played. Yet another option for Flying Kamikari #1 is Harpy Lady #1, i think she is worthy of being in this Wind deck and two is not excessive. Slate Warrior is the Wind deck's beatstick, with 1900 attack points and a special effect to boot. Although you might not use the flip effect much, his other effect can be very useful when killed by Mobius/Jinzo (to suicide your second Slate Warrior into) or Cyber Dragon (Allowing even Harpy Lady to suicide). Magician of Faith is in to revive Spell cards while DD Warrior Lady for extra monster removal. Treeborn Frog helps to maintain field presence and is especially good as tribute fodder.

Spells:

Most Spell cards are pretty basic selections. I'll only bother to explain the non-obvious ones. Pot of Avarice is in to make the best use of Flying Kamikari #1. He can be the best card in the deck but only if you still have viable targets in your deck (and their higher lv forms), so Pot of Avarice replenishes your deck as well as your hand. Rising Air Current is in to pump some of the weaker Wind monsters, as well make the beatsticks able to stand up to almost anything in the current meta-game. Field Spells are pretty bad most of the time but since your opponent will most likely have no Wind monsters, this ones a safe bet. The only problems are it does give bad topdecks and that MST/Dust Tornado can be chained to kill Rising Air Current and an attacking monsters, so be careful when attacking. This deck manipulates the attack of monsters a lot using this card Harpy Lady 1 and Ultimate Insect so I guess you could say it fits that theme.

Traps:

Here is where i decided to experiment a bit. There are the basics in there; I put two Dust Tornados to make up for the lack of Breaker and Bottomless Trap Hole instead of Sakuretsu Armor to punish the use of Mobius. Earth Shaker is an experimental card that can be very useful. For those of you who don't know it is a CHAINABLE trap that lets you choose two Attributes and then have your opponent choose one of them. Then all monsters of that Attribute on the field are destroyed. How many other decks you facing will be using Wind monsters? Most likely none, so if your opponent has two monsters of different attribute one of them is dead. However that is only half the reason this card is good. Since it is chainable, you can use it in response to Mystical Space Typhoon, Dust Tornado, etc, this allows you to pick up a 2:1. Possibly (although highly unlikely) this could even become a 3:1 or better. However you can only use Earth Shaker when your opponent has two face up monsters of different Attributes, otherwise your opponent would just choose the one that would not kill his monsters, so this card is situational. I think this card is worth it though, as it can change the tide of the duel. It's also laughs (maniacally) at Scapegoat.

Cards that missed didnt make the list

Harpy Lady 2/3: Harpy Lady two is just not very good. Most monsters don't survive for that long anyway. Harpy Lady 3 is good but her ATK is just too low to be able to take out threats that the effect would help against most. Also i don't like the idea of her running into a face-down Don Zaloog. If you want to use her in a Harpy Lady deck, go for it but this is a Wind deck so don't.

Spiritual Wind Art- Miyabi: I suppose you could try it if you want. It can stop a monster for the rest of the duel most likely. I just dont like it personally. It gives a 1:2 unless its used in a chain, then its a 2:2. That’s like Earth Shaker except you spend an extra card. I guess side deck it and take out Earth Shaker if you face a deck with Wind Monsters =I

So that’s the deck! You can send any comments/suggestions to jjtduelist@aol.com. I have playtested this a little and it’s been effective but not enough to get a good idea of what isn’t working, so try it out for yourself!
