Dark Paladin

Chaos King Archfiend has some sick art, and is a Level 7 Synchro Monster, who is Sychro Summoned with one Fiend-type Tuner, and one or more non-Tuner monsters.  This is a Dark monster with 2600 attack and 2600 defense.

For one, I really like he has 2600 attack and defense.  Lots of people say defense numbers don't matter, but they most certainly do.  As for what he does, when he attacked, you can switch the attack and defense of all face-up monsters your opponent controls, until the end of the Battle Phase.

See where defense comes into play, at least here?  Plenty of monsters have low defense behind a high attack, or vice versa, which makes them that much easier to be destroyed via this cards effect.  I think he could be useful, but he's not very popular.

Chaos King Archfiend ...

This guy is pretty ok. And being a level 7 Synchro monster actually saves him. There aren't a whole lot of worthwhile Level 7's that fit into most decks, and CKA may be the strongest to date, in terms of actual ATK. 2600 for both ATK and DEF. His only limitation is that he needs to be constructed with a Fiend type tuner. Had he been Level 8, there are just too many other good ones to make space for in a limited 15 card extra deck, to justify trying to throw CKA into the mix.

Level 7 aside, CKA has a pretty cool effect in that he's got a built in "Shield & Sword" effect (remember that card?) When he attacks, he can switch the ATK & DEF of all face-up monsters your opponent controls for the battle phase. 2600 is bigger than a majority of Monster's ATK, and anything with a larger ATK than 2600 for CKA to try an kill, usually won't have as big a  DEF, so it can plow through a lot. Not only that, but it can make your opponent's other monsters more vulnerable to your weaker monster's attack.

There isn't a WHOLE lot to say about this card, really. U know what it does and pretty much how to use it. It'll take proper timing to get him right, and only if u can't build a level 8 synchro, and blowing up the field with Black Rose isnt an option.

Chaos King Archfiend is another piece of the Archfiend clan, I guess: it’s a Level 7 Dark/Fiend/Synchro/Effect monster.  Level 7 isn’t a bad place to be: it’s basically the least crowded of the “easy to hit” Levels, but the Extra Deck is still a pretty crowded place.  Dark is of course a wonderfully supported Attribute and Fiends have some nifty tricks but they aren’t heavily played.  Likewise being an Archfiend is a nice bonus… if the card ends up being worth using.

Chaos King Archfiend has a 2600 ATK and DEF.  These are just a hair low (ignoring the standards set by cards I feel are overpowered, like Goyo Guardian) for a Level 7 Synchro Monster (as opposed to a Ritual or Fusion), but at least it can still run over Stardust Dragon and most single Tribute monsters.  The DEF won’t come in handy often, but it’s nice to have when you face position changing cards.

Where the card fails to make an impact is the effect.  When this card attacks, you can switch the ATK and DEF of your opponent’s face-up monsters.  It’s a potentially devastating effect, but most of the time it’ll just make one or two monsters easier to run over in battle and Chaos King Archfiend is of course exposed to danger by having to attack in order to activate the effect.  The effect also only lasts until the end of the turn, so you have to make use of it right away or it’s not going to help.

In the end it isn’t a bad card, just not a good card and so it scores almost average but is easily crowded out.

Chaos King Archfiend

When you read this card for the first time, you probably didn't believe it was so good. Then you went back and read it again and realized it needed a Fiend Tuner. Unfortunately, you then realized this might as well be Fabled-only, because the only reliable Fiend Tuner, Stygian Security, would require 6 non-tuner levels. Oh well.

Of course, this would be an excellent card for Fabled decks, which will be coming here soon. The deck lolspams the field with monsters over and over again to build up Synchros like this.

2.5/5
Art: Very simplistic and low-budget.
Fun Fact: The 3DS is better than you.
Tomorrow: Cookies + cows = This.
