Dark Paladin's Yu-Gi-Oh! Dimension
Constructing the Blue Eyes Deck
04.24.07

Hello again to Pojo and Yugioh fans one and all! I recently did an article giving you a partial spoiler for the Force of Breaker booster due out in a few months, and there were a couple of cards of particular interest in the set.

Specifically, a couple of cards that said something along the line of "This card cannot be Special Summoned except by removing..."

Now where have we heard something like that before? Ah yes, I believe they were known as Chaos Emperor Dragon--Envoy of the End and Black Luster Soldier--Envoy of the Beginning. I also believe both are on the Banned List.

So, what I'm going to do here is determine if a card that states "This card cannot be Special Summoned except by removing..." is as good as either of their Envoy cousins...or any good at all.

FOTB-JP021 Demon God Enrise Super Rare

Light-Angel

Level 8

2400-1500

This card cannot be Normal Summoned. This card cannot be Special Summoned except by removing 3 LIGHT Angel-Type monsters and 1 DARK Demon-Type monster from your Graveyard from the game. You can remove a face-up monster on the field from play. If the effect is activated, this card cannot attack during this turn. This effect cam only be activated once per turn.

This could be a more balanced version of Black Luster Soldier. 2400 attack is on par with anything played (Jinzo, Monarchs, Sacred Phoenix) and is easier to deal with than 3000. This monster is a Fairy instead of a Warrior, and can't attack if it removes something from play.

It doesn't have the attack twice effect, and it needs four monsters to be removed instead of two. Also, it requires specific types, instead of a Light and a Dark. Here, you must remove three Fairies and one Fiend. (Still Light and Dark however.)

FOTB-JP022 Demon God Nohrerath Super Rare Dark-Demon 2400 atk 1500 def Level 8

This card cannot be Normal Summoned. This card cannot be Special Summoned except by removing 3 DARK Demon-Type monsters and 1 LIGHT Angel-Type monster from your Graveyard from the game. By paying 1000 Lifepoints send all cards in both players hands and on the field to the Graveyard, afterwards draw 1 card.

Next, we have the answer to Enrise, as BLS is the answer to CED. Both are evenly matched at 2400 attack, as BLS and CED are at 3000. Now, with CED you pay 1000 Lifepoints to destroy everything AND inflict damage for each card destroyed x300.

Here, you pay 1000 Lifepoints to destroy everything but don't get any burn effect. However, you get to Draw 1 card afterward. In this case, the removed monsters must be three Fiends and one Fairy type.

This monster vs. Demise King of Armageddon? Demise is still a Ritual who requires a bigger cost--2000 Lifepoints instead of 1000. Demise also only nukes the field, not your hands, and doesn't give you the advantage of drawing a card afterward.

I still believe people will play Demise...I don't think Fairies and Fiends are supposed to have some sort of hybrid...you never know, it could work. These monsters are powerful, but I think the summoning cost may deter people from playing them.

Well, that does it for today, and I hope you enjoyed it! Please, as always, feel free to e-mail me with anything @ tsearcy@lssu.edu

You stay classy, Planet Earth :)

~Dark Paladin~
