Tranorix's Tantalizingly Terrible Tips Three: Tangibly Trashy Top 10
August 12, 2005

Welcome to yet another edition of Tranorix’s Tantalizingly Terrible Tips.  Today I’m not looking at a poor tip; I’m looking at a top 10 list.  Let’s begin!

Hey Everybody! I'm [name removed] and this is my top 10 list of my favorite cards.

Okay, fair enough.  This is one of the more popular top 10 list topics; people simply list their favorites.  Nothing wrong…yet.

1: Breaker The Magical Warrior- 1900 ATK and a Mystical Space Typhoon effect. Whats not to like? He's my favorite card because he can destroy more than one spell or trap card per turn! It just depends on how many spell cards you want to use in a turn to give him that ability.

So Breaker is this person’s favorite card because he can destroy more than one Spell or Trap per turn.  Hmm…anyone else see a problem with that?  Exactly!  Breaker can’t destroy more than one Spell or Trap per turn, not unless you use something like Apprentice Magician or Pitch Black Power Stone.  The submitter of this tip is operating under the assumption that Breaker will receive a Spell Counter every time someone plays a Spell.  That, of course, is completely incorrect.

2: Blade Knight- This guy is awesome! To bad his effects can be used when you have one card in your hand or if he's the only monster on the field. But still he is a great light monster for those chaos cards!

Blade Knight’s ATK increasing effect also works if you have 0 cards in your hand.  A minor error, but one worth noting.  Mentioning why Blade Knight is a good monster for Chaos might be a nice thing to do as well.

3: The End of Anubis- Oh my gosh! This guy can stop people from summoning Chaos Emporer Dragon, and Black Luster Soldier. I'd say that's a big plus. Don't you think?

I personally don’t think that’s such a great advantage.  Why?  Because it DOESN’T stop the Chaos Monsters from being summoned!  If I had a dollar for every person who thought The End of Anubis stopped Chaos, I’d have…a couple of bucks.

4: Magic Cylinder- Can redirect a monsters attack back at the opponents life points. How come people don't use this card? The bad thing is, you can only stop one attack. But still, it helps!

Magic Cylinder doesn’t “redirect” attacks; it merely stops them altogether and inflicts damage – a small error but an important concept to understand.

5: Mirror Force- Not only can it stop an attack! It can destroy the rest of your opponents attacking monsters. I think its kind of obvious that everyone should have this card.

Mirror Force technically does not negate any attacks; it destroys all the monsters in ATK position, thereby significantly reducing the chance a monster will be able to continue attacking.  In fact, the only one that can is Total Defense Shogun, which Mirror Force is completely unable to stop.

6: Raigeki- Destroys your opponents monsters at NO cost. I absolutely love this card! Kill them and then attack the enemy!

Hence the ban.

7: Monster Reborn- Who doesn't like this card? Revive your best monster, then destroy your opponent slowly and painfully.

Konami doesn’t like this card.  Because it’s banned.

8: Harpie's Feather Duster- Basically a Raigeki version of Mystical Space Typhoon! Destroy those pesky spell and trap cards! This card is GREAT!

Or a Mystical Space Typhoon of Raigeki.  Cool, isn’t it?  Or did I just blow your mind?  Well, either way, it’s banned.

9: Yata-Garasu- O.K. I was kidding about Breaker being my favorite card, this little birdy is! Even though its low on attack points. It can lock up your opponent if you can keep it alive. I suggest getting rid of your opponents Torrential Tributes, Solemn Judgements and Horn of Heavens before use.

Right, because Horn of Heaven is in so many decks…and who plays more than one Torrential Tribute?  Oh, and, banned.

10: Change of Heart- Take your opponents monster and either use it against him or sacrifice it. Either way you can use it to inflict pain upon your opponent.

Keep using these banned cards and your opponent might start inflicting pain upon you.

These are my favorite cards!

So half of the cards are banned, and two of the other five choices were based on horrible misinterpretations card effects.

*Sigh*  If everyone would check the rulings before submitting lists or tips, there would be no need for this section.  Until next time, remember:
