Dark Paladin
Monday

Well, it's a short week, just Monday to Wednesday this week, and we won't be with you next Monday, because the Big Giant Head (3rd Rock From the Sun reference!) (aka Pojosama) will be on vacation for a while.

Anyway, we again open Monday with a Fan Request, this time, Mysterious Guard, a card from a little set called Legacy of Darkness. Mysterious Guard is a Spellcaster of the Earth attribute, who is Level 3 with 800 attack and 1200 defense. Not the best of stats, but you probably won't attack with this guy anyway.

When Flipped, Mysterious Guard can return one monster on the Field to the owner's Deck, yours or your opponent's. After all, sometimes, you might actually want to return something to your own Deck to reuse it's effect, right?

Furthermore, if you control another face-up Warrior type monster, you can return a second monster on the Field back to it's owners' Deck.
So, this card could potentially be a +2 in terms of advantage for you.

Ideally, you would return a tribute monster or something to really set your opponent back. However, if you return a Monarch or something, what's to stop your opponent from reusing that effect next turn. If it's your own, though, you could reuse your own effect. Not a bad piece of tech.

Ratings:

Traditional: 2/5 It is Earth, but you're more likely to have a Warrior on the Field here.

Advanced: 3/5 Tech, and not all that bad, honestly.

Art: 4/5 Sort of a Warrior version of Skilled Dark Magician.
General Zorpa Mysterious Guard

There isn't anything so mysterious about today's fan pick, Mysterious Guard. It is a little flip effect monster that spins a monster to the deck when it is flipped, and if you have a warrior on the field it returns another monster to the owner's hand. Not bad, but Raiza and wind blast are better. People are very win-game oriented right now, and setting monsters just isn't all that it's cracked up to be in this format. Apprentice Magician and Gravekeeper's Spy in addition to Spirit Reaper and Marshmalon and Sangan are the only monsters that I see set. This guy can get very disruptive if he wants to , but the game is too fast paced for most flip monsters to be playable.

Traditional-1.5/5
Advanced-2/5
